Revelation 21:23

23 And [kai] the city [polis] had [echo] no [ou] need [chreia] of the sun, [helios] neither [oude] of the moon, [selene] to [hina] shine [phaino] in [en] it: [autos] for [gar] the glory [doxa] of God [theos] did lighten [photizo] it, [autos] and [kai] the Lamb [arnion] is the light [luchnos] thereof. [autos] KJV-Interlinear

23 And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine upon it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb. NASB

Just one century ago, people would have been impressed to overwhelmed with the things that we now take for granted. With the movie imaging and special effects we have today, it is no wonder that folks, especially the younger generation, are probably becoming desensitized to the many things of the imagination of yesteryear.

After all, any more, if it can be imagined, it can be reproduced on the silver screen. In the movies, we can transport ourselves to different galaxies, deal with the monsters of the deep, go back or forward in time, and we can do battle with kings or devils of every type.

For most folks, these things are entertainment, but for some they must be really true. Of what interest could the Bible possibly be, when discovery of the technological fountain of youth is just days, or months, or certainly within a few years, away, as most people probably see it?

Today we have countries flexing their military muscle in the shadows, liberals can’t decide what side they are on when faced with a world crisis or party infidelity, and ultra conservatives just don’t want anything to change.

But it is not we (man) who provide the stability, it is Gods principles and mandates that impose a strong influence on the world, which serve as the stabilizing force, preventing the outer fringes from sucking the middle right out of the world.

These words of the Bible are given to impress certainly. Who can imagine a universe with no suns or moons. They not only provide direct or reflected light, but they influence gravity and the seasons, which drive the planets. Some might even suggest that they are the source of all life. After all, what can survive without the light or heat of the sun?

But then, does life come from the sun? Evolution depends on the existence of a sun and its light and heat. Or is there another source?

When this universe comes to an end, when Christ destroys it all, then the sun and the moon, the planets and all of the stars, everything in fact, except believers and elect angels, will be destroyed as though they never existed.

They will be obliterated into non-existence.

Then a new universe will be created. It will not be anything like the one we are use to now. Today we have the rotation of the earth and thus we have day and night.

In the future, however, the day will never end. No nighttime will exist, no sleep time.

The light of Christ will illuminate not only the city, but also the entire universe.

19 ‘No longer will you have the sun for light by day, Nor for brightness will the moon give you light; But you will have the LORD for an everlasting light, And your God for your glory.
20 ‘Your sun will set no more, Neither will your moon wane; For you will have the LORD for an everlasting light, And the days of your mourning will be finished. NASB

The world will try with all of its might, to distract you from your spiritual life. It will try to make you into something that you are not, or were never intended to become. Intended by God, that is. Don’t be transformed into a meaningless shape of the world’s choosing, but be transformed into what God wishes for you.

The world will always move from one crisis to the next. Responsible people will tend to those crises in due course. Whether those problems are world leaders gone mad, dealings with new diseases, or just your difficulties with monthly bills or people in general, all the solutions in our dispensation will come from God, to those who have spiritual growth.

As for those folks who are lacking in their spiritual life, then the jungle laws are as good as it will ever get in this life. And that is never good for anyone.

Do not succumb to the world news. Do not get discouraged by the events of your life. And most important, do not get distracted away from your spiritual growth.

Mans future is not hidden inside Sci-Fi movies, or political, religious, or any other philosophical platform.

Our future has been revealed for many, many centuries. All we can do is advance in our spiritual lives, and fulfill the responsibilities that God expects of us, during our lives.

One day, even though we can neither earn nor deserve the things that God has prepared for us, we will become the recipients of phenomenal blessings that far exceed even our imaginations.

20 Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think , according to the power that works within us,
21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. NASB
