Psalm 9:18

Psalm 9:18

18 For the needy ['ebyown] shall not alway [netsach] be forgotten: [shakach] the expectation [tiqvah] of the poor [`aniy] [`anav] shall not perish ['abad] for ever. [`ad] KJV-Interlinear

18 For the needy will not always be forgotten, Nor the hope of the afflicted perish forever. NASB

God does not forget those who are under affliction. God does not forget the believers who are positive toward His word.

God judges and sets things straight from time to time in history. We have seen in Judges that Joshua and the Israelites utterly destroyed the peoples in the land. Men, women, children, animals, everything was killed or burned to destroy the stench of evil that was running rampant in the land.

Throughout history man has demonstrated an unwillingness to take this course of action to protect human life, so God superimposes His will on history and takes out judgment through various means to protect us from ourselves.

Sometimes it is through war. Sometimes through disease, or earthquakes. Whatever the tool used, it is used efficiently by God to do that which mankind sometimes sees but does nothing about. Usually politics and public opinion rules leaders rather than truth and justice.

These evil types are sent back to where they came from, evil. Those who suffer from the tyranny of the wicked are saved and promoted eventually in Gods grace and in Gods good time.

The needy and the poor, is a reference to those who are deprived from that which they are in need of.

Everyone is in need of a spiritual life.  Most unfortunately, reject Gods mandated spiritual life, or they define their own version of a spiritual life.

There are however, many who pursue the spiritual life that God has ordained and it is of those who this verse refers.  Whether rich or poor is irrelevant.  All who pursue God, Christ, doctrine and things better for them due to Gods promises, then have an eternal promise, and an eternal destiny that will never fade or diminish.

Gods promises are certain.  And regardless of what things are going on in this world, be they earthquakes or tsunami's, high gas prices or high food prices, unemployment or social difficulties in ones life, Gods promises will always be there, Gods plan for humanity and for your specific life, will march forward, and there will be nothing to stop them.

The world is often referred to as the cosmos, or Satan’s domain.  All who reject Christ and doctrine, subscribe to evil by default, but the great equalizer in life is death, which brings all of mans plans to a screeching halt.

Just remember that the sum total of your life does not begin and end in this world, but goes on forever in the next life.  Therefore, prepare yourself for the next and much longer life, for it is there that all of Gods promises will become a reality.

Those who reject Christ lose their eternal life.  Those believers who reject doctrine and their spiritual growth, lose eternal reward.  Only those who wake up and see the value of doctrine and Gods promises in their destiny, and thus pursue their spiritual life to maturity, will reap great rewards which will equate to beyond the infinite, which is beyond ones imagination.
