Revelation 19:5
5 And [kai] a voice [phone] came [exerchomai] out of [ek] the throne, [thronos] saying, [lego] Praise [aineo] our [hemon] God, [theos] all ye [pas] his [autos] servants, [doulos] and [kai] ye that fear [phobeo] him, [autos] both [kai] small [mikros] and [kai] great. [megas] KJV-Interlinear
5 And a voice came from the throne, saying, "Give praise to our God, all you His bond-servants, you who fear Him, the small and the great." NASB
The four beasts were introduced back in chapter four, and were said to be under, around that through the throne.
They were identified as the ultimate source of living essence.
From the throne comes a voice, not identified, but in retrospect may very well be that of the source of life. The Lord is not identified here but is identified in every case in which He speaks. Angels are identified when they speak, even the elders are identified. But this voice is not identified except as to its source, which is the throne.
The throne of God is the ultimate seat of power in all of creation and Heaven. And when the throne speaks, then the voice is coming from the ultimate center or origin of life and truth. God is life and truth.
Jesus Christ is God and therefore the ultimate sovereign.
The voice calls for all bond-servants, all who fear God, and all who are great and small, to worship our God.
Bond-servants, is a term that typically refers to Christians, Rev. 19:2; 1:1; 2:20; 7:3; 11:18; 15:3; 22:3,6; Luke 2:29; Acts 4:29; 16:17; Rom 1:1; Gal 1:10; Phil 1:1; Col 1:7; 4:7; 2 Tim 2:24; Titus 1:1; James 1:1; 2 Peter 1:1; Jude 1.
Those who fear God typically refers to all Old Testament believers, Deut 6:13; 8:6; 10:12,20; 13:4; Josh 24:14; 1 Sam 12:14,24; 2 Kings 7:3-9; Ps 22:23,25; 25:14; 33:18; 34:7,9; 85:9; 103:11,13,17; Luke 1:50.
And the phrase, all great and small, is a catch all to make sure that it is clear that this verse is referring to everyone (including angels and even animals), and leaving no one out of this command, but with emphasis on all who are redeemed.
All of creation is commanded to praise God. From the source of life to all of life, from the source of creation to all of creation, and no one and nothing is excluded, throughout all of the universe and Heaven.
For when you consider all that God has done for creation and life, and right down to the very essence of you as a life entity imputed into a pile of dust, and carried through life by means of Gods grace (not of your own effort), then God is deserving and worthy of praise, and thanks, even beyond what we are capable of expressing.
