Revelation 5:10

10 And [kai] hast made [poieo] us [hemas] unto our [hemon] God [theos] kings [basileus] and [kai] priests: [hiereus] and [kai] we shall reign [basileuo] on [epi] the earth. [ge] KJV-Interlinear

10 "And Thou hast made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth." NASB

The twenty-four elders are the ones singing the song. They are referring to themselves as a group and all that are similar to them, namely the kingdom of believers from our Church Age.

In Rev. 20:6, we are described as the ones from the first resurrection. Now Jesus Christ was the first resurrection, but He was a single individual, and He is described as the first, of the first fruits. So, even though our resurrection will be second, at the Rapture, we are still a part of the first ‘fruits’ group, as we are the kingdom of kings and priests, designated in the scriptures.

We are said here, to be a kingdom of kings and priests. Kings rule and priests have the privilege of direct interaction with God.

The rapture will occur prior to the Second Advent and the onset of the Millennium or the Kingdom of God on Earth as it is called.

The second resurrection, the resurrection following ours, will occur at the end of the Tribulation, where the Old Testament believers including the Tribulation believers who had died, will be resurrected.

The next and last resurrection, will occur at the end of the millennium when history finally comes to a completion, and everyone else is resurrected.

So the order of resurrections is:
First – Christ.
Second - Royal Family or Church Age believers (also counted as the first fruits of the first resurrection; the first group of humanity to be resurrected in mass.
Third - Old Testament and martyred tribulation believers (tribulation believer who remain alive at the end of the Tribulation will continue to live into the Millennium.
Fourth - And finally the Millennial believers.

And so, when the Tribulation is completed, and the Millennium begins, then we, Church Age believers, will reign with Christ on earth.

This will have a double impact. First, the world will be populated with billions of resurrected believers, in their resurrection bodies, not subject to the second death, not subject to sin and so forth. This will provide for plentiful and true views regarding life and so forth. In contrast, during our current history, there are billions of people who have lies as their philosophy and truth is severely lacking in this world. Anyway, trouble and conflict and adversarial situations will be virtually lacking, if they exist at all, in the world.

And second, we will reign in ruling capacities throughout the world and society. Whereas now days, we have far too many people in ruling capacities that are not even closely qualified, nor wise enough to rule.

This alone, will make the Millennium a far better environment for people to be born into and to grow up, as there will be a huge population explosion of people who have not yet been resurrected, but will have bodies of flesh and corruptible (as we are now), and they will need and have the best possible guidance that will ever be available in all of human history.

And jumping ahead just a bit, even this perfect environment will not prove to be mans best result for sin and death. As, much of humanity, near the end of the Millennium, will reject Christ as savior, and will even reject doctrine as their path to maturity, even though there will be overwhelming proof in Christ’s presence and our presence, as to the better way of life in faith and doctrine.

So, as you can make a note of it, people even in the face of overwhelming evidence, will still reject truth. It certainly is much easier even today to reject truth.

But that contrast is not in the relative populations of the ages who reject truth, but in the last population who will reject it, when one would think that it would be virtually impossible to reject truth, verses people throughout history who have a severe lack of proof, but accept truth, Christ, doctrine, and so forth, based solely on faith.

And so, again, we will one day serve in a capacity in this world, from a position of thorough preparation and intellect, far in excess of those who rule in our present day. And the world will prosper with unbelievable prosperity, that has never ever been experienced in history, prior to the Millennium.

We cannot earn this privilege. We cannot deserve it. We were born of dust, and our life came from God who created us out of nothing.

From nothing to royalty, is indeed a tremendous blessing and privilege. And it becomes available to every person who advances to spiritual maturity, by means of their daily study. Not by means of physical birth, luck, who you know, or some other worldly means, but by grace from God.
