Isaiah
25:3
3 Therefore shall the strong [`az] people [`am] glorify [kabad] thee, the city [qiryah] of
the terrible [`ariyts] nations [gowy] shall fear [yare'] thee. KJV-Interlinear
3 Therefore strong peoples will glorify you;
cities of ruthless nations will fear you. ESV
More often than not,
people do not pay attention to God or Christ or the Bible. Even among those who follow different
religions, they live their life with their religion intertwined in one way or
another, but they are not fanatically inclined to follow their religion to the letter. It is more for public show, or convenience, than
anything.
Then there comes a
time when reality steps into the life of the person and God demonstrates the fallacy
of their pattern of life. That living a
life without truth, is living a lie, and being oblivious to truth, will end up
getting you into trouble. That eventual
trouble will be a real eye opener.
Unfortunately the
word for glorify here refers to only recognition of something or someone
greater than they are.
And fear, refers
to dread.
When people live
in a fog with respect to reality, then when reality strikes, they are shocked
or put into shock.
This does not mean
they will change their ways or change their life or their beliefs. It only means that they will suddenly be
afraid of something that is more powerful and dreadful for the time being. Most every unbeliever will look at disaster
or hard times and expect that they will pass, just as the weather passes or as
the seasons pass.
But in the final
end of ones life, or in this case at the end of history, things will not simply
pass by and resume as they were. At the
end of ones life, the end is final with no do-overs, with no continuations.
And at the end of
history, the recognition of God and His awesome power will be universal and
worldwide and final.
