Isaiah 25:12

Copyright Ó 2015 J. Neely
Isaiah 25:12

12 And the fortress [mibtsar] of the high fort [misgab] of thy walls [chowmah] shall he bring down [shachach], lay low [shaphel], and bring [naga`] to the ground ['erets], even to the dust [`aphar].   KJV-Interlinear

12 And the high fortifications of his walls he will bring down, lay low, and cast to the ground, to the dust.   ESV

And so Isaiah completes this chapter with the final statement that all of the mighty things of this world, all of the mighty thins of humanity, will be destroyed as though they never existed.

The mighty fort with high walls, is symbolic of all that man looks to, for his security, for the justification of his opinions or beliefs or philosophies.

Whether military power, or financial power or political power, or technology, or medical advancements, or in whatever it is that humanity places its trust, all things, will prove to be impotent and will fall without so much as a little struggle.

To bring to the ground is destruction, but to be lowered to the level of the dust, is total and unrecognizable obliteration.

The dust cannot be distinguished from other dust, and dust eventually blows away in the wind, never to be found again.

Just as over the course of history, kingdoms rise and fall, and yet no one learns from their errors.

So too, the lives of most people continue from year to year, from decade to decade, and no one learns the error of their ways, and therefore, in the Tribulation, when the final seven years of humanity is on the brink of annihilation, people will still not see the error of their ways.

That is how strong indifference and arrogance is, and how much influence that these attributes have over the mind and thoughts of humanity.

And so, Isaiah, continues one chapter after another, painting the picture of continued disinterest and continued indifference and continued arrogance, and continued disregard for Gods Word, even in the face of overwhelming disasters and even the disintegration of the human race, as people still do not see the light, so to speak.

Even today, that is the case.

There is so much opportunity for people to learn truth and to grow up in their spiritual lives, and yet they do not.  And they do not learn because they prefer their own opinions to those of God.

To learn a subject, any subject, you have to be taught, you have to study, you have to experience life, all three of these things, in order to learn.  And unfortunately far too many people skip the first two things and rely only on their experiences.  And that is why they fail.  Because experience without truth, becomes very subjective and that gives only a false sense of knowledge, and false knowledge at that.

And so, life will continue to spiral until God brings history to its inevitable change, and end.

The only question for you or anyone is, will you be a part of your own spiritual success, or will you be an active participant in the disintegration of humanity?

Isaiah 25:11

Copyright Ó 2015 J. Neely
Isaiah 25:11

11 And he shall spread forth [paras] his hands [yad] in the midst [qereb] of them, as he that swimmeth [sachah] spreadeth forth [paras] his hands to swim [sachah]: and he shall bring down [shaphel] their pride [ga`avah] together with the spoils ['orobah] of their hands [yad].   KJV-Interlinear

11 And he will spread out his hands in the midst of it as a swimmer spreads his hands out to swim, but the LORD will lay low his pompous pride together with the skill of his hands.   ESV.

A swimmer, extends his hands, spreads them out, in order to clear away everything in his way so he can advance and continue on his way with his purpose.

And so, it is God, or specifically Jesus Christ, who proceeds with the final judgment of the world.  He removed the water or symbolically, anything and everything, that is in His way or that is placed in His way, so as to complete His purpose of judgment.

And just as water poses no obstacle or barrier for a swimmer, so too, nothing in this world poses an obstacle of prevention, so as to deter or undermine Christ’s resolve.

Anything and anyone who rejects Christ and/or Bible doctrine, is rejecting truth.  Any rejection of truth by default means that you accept lies as your substitute truth, and that is a function of arrogance.  To presume that your beliefs are better than truth.

The world operates on lies, and therefore presumes that anything in the world is fair game and open to them for their possession.

And that is a false presumption.

God created all things for His family, not for His enemies.  The new universe will be the ultimate testimony of that purpose. Only heirs or family members will inherit the new universe and eternal life.

And by means of His own hands, God will lay low, destroy and take back, all that those who have rejected Him, have taken for their own.

And all that was taken by those who have no right to anything, will be lost by them, forever.

It is a sad thing to not know what or why you were placed in this world.

It is a sad thing to not know your purpose in this world.

If you were born alive, and exist in this world, then God has a purpose for you.  And know this, He intended for you to fulfill your purpose because no one else can do what He intends for you to do.  Regardless of your circumstances, there is a reason for them.  And you will discover that reason, if and only when you take up your pursuit of spiritual growth, through your daily Bible study.

Without that study, you will likely live in the fog of life and never know the purpose that God intended for you.
And again, regardless of your circumstances, God put you there in order to glorify Him, not you.  For it is He who carries you through any and all situations to demonstrate to the world, that He can carry anyone through anything, anywhere, anytime, and there is nothing that the world can do to prevent it.

Only you can prevent your purpose through the arrogant of indifference or pretense or rejection of truth.  And then, that arrogance will be eventually be squashed and removed, and you may eventually realize your tremendous mistake, but probably too late. That is if you are rigid and refuse to learn.

Isaiah 25:10

Copyright Ó 2015 J. Neely
Isaiah 25:10

10 For in this mountain [har] shall the hand [yad] of the LORD [Y@hovah] rest [nuwach], and Moab [Mow'ab] shall be trodden down [duwsh] under him, even as straw [mathben] is trodden down [duwsh] for the dunghill [b@mow] [madmenah] [mayim].   KJV-Interlinear

10 For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain, and Moab shall be trampled down in his place, as straw is trampled down in a dunghill.   ESV

A pile of manure is the final existence of the enemies of God as stated here.

The hand of God often times symbolizes the protection, defense and actions of God.

And the mountain is of course a reference to Zion, which is the dwelling place of God.  God is truth therefore, the dwelling of God is truth, and is portrayed in the content of the scriptures.  And if a person learns truth, then they by default, reside with God within His dwelling, namely doctrine resident in the soul.

Moab is a general reference to the enemies of God, referring to all enemies.

They will be trodden down or trampled, as is the barn yard debris of straw and hay and manure, which is eventually hauled off to the fields or pushed off to the side and burned as waste.

We have many colorful phrases for this type of pile, which I will leave to your own imagination.  Noting that often times colorful phrases are quite proper and certainly Biblical.

And that is the place where the enemies of God will be left.

And, not only will they be destroyed, they will be destroyed in their place, which means that no matter where they are in the world, they will fall right there in their destruction.

They will not have to go to Jerusalem to be destroyed, Christ will destroy them right in their own homes, in their own cities, in their own nations, in their own land.

Gods reach is not limited, and Gods judgment will be thorough and complete.

Isaiah 25:9

Copyright Ó 2015 J. Neely
Isaiah 25:9

9 And it shall be said ['amar] in that day [yowm], Lo, this is our God ['elohiym]; we have waited [qavah] for him, and he will save [yasha`] us: this is the LORD [Y@hovah]; we have waited [qavah] for him, we will be glad [giyl] and rejoice [samach] in his salvation [y@shuw`ah].KJV-Interlinear

9 It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”   ESV

In that day, refers to a specific day, notably in the end times at the Second Advent, but it also refers to any notable day wherein a person recognizes this truth within the scope of their own life.

Jesus Christ is God.  He was born into this world as a man, creating the one and only unique person in all of existence.

When an individual recognizes the benefits and blessings of salvation and believes in Christ then this sentiment becomes a part of their feelings in discovering Christ.

When an individual recognizes Bible doctrine and learns doctrine and recognizes the value and blessings that are incorporated in growing up spiritually, then this sentiment becomes a part of their feelings in discovering Bible doctrine, which is also Christ as the written word.

When an individual one day actually experiences the resurrection, then this sentiment becomes a part of their feelings in discovering the meaning and purpose of their life, which is courtesy of Jesus Christ.

But in the final days of history and those believers who have been patiently waiting through the most horrible times in all of human history, and when Christ actually returns for all to witness, then this sentiment will become an overwhelming part of their recognition of the phenomenal realities of life and the ultimate truth and reality of Christ and all of Gods promises.

In that time the emotional response will be overwhelming.  The lifting of the burdens and terrors of life will be relieving.

The huge removal of the heavy weights of life will be beyond words of expression.

Isaiah 25:8

Copyright Ó 2015 J. Neely
Isaiah 25:8

8 He will swallow up [bala`] death [maveth] in victory [netsach]; and the Lord ['Adonay] GOD [Y@hovih] will wipe away [machah] tears [dim`ah] from off all faces [paniym]; and the rebuke [cherpah] of his people [`am] shall he take away [cuwr] from off all the earth ['erets]: for the LORD [Y@hovah] hath spoken [dabar] it.   KJV-Interlinear

8 He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken.   ESV

Back in verse six, the Lord is the, He, mentioned here, who is going to accomplish all of these things.

Death is swallowed up, destroyed, expunged, removed permanently.

Victory is the final end, permanent, eternal.  There will be no further failures, no further loss, no further disappointments.

The tears of death, of sorrow, of grieving, of pain, will be no more.

The rebuke of all Christians, of all peoples that belong to God, will be no more.  The ultimate vindication, will be accomplished.  All opposition, especially that initiated by Satan and perpetuated by negative humanity, will cease.

The Lord spoke the words, wrote the words, and therefore it is accomplished.

The Bible is alive and powerful.  Far too many people do not make the connection to this reality, nor do they grasp the power nor the opportunity that it offers.  And as such, they miss the boat and the huge opportunity to have the greatest life possible, because they simply do not commit themselves to a daily instruction of Bible doctrine.

And yet, the greatest possible life and destiny, that you or anyone can have, and actually possess for your very own possession, is available by merely committing yourself to a daily study.

God is the ultimate authority, the ultimate sovereign, the ultimate power.  If you ever wanted to have your very own genie and thus have everything that you want, then Bible doctrine, learned and in the soul, is as close as you can come, and the only means, to that dream.

Life in eternity is beyond imagination.  To possess that, is something that represents phenomenal value.  But of course you have to recognize that principle first, and then learn how to accomplish it.

Isaiah 25:7

Copyright Ó 2015 J. Neely
Isaiah 25:7

7 And he will destroy [bala`] in this mountain [har] the face [paniym] of the covering [lowt] cast over [luwt] all people [`am], and the vail [maccekah] that is spread [nacak] over all nations [gowy].   KJV-Interlinear

7 And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations.   ESV

God is going to destroy something.  But what?  What does the face mean?  What does the covering mean?  What does the veil mean?

And more important, what does the mountain mean?

Beginning with the mountain. This is Mt. Zion, also known as the dwelling place of God.  God is truth and therefore the mountain represents the vastness of truth, which is summarized for us in the Bible, which we call Bible doctrine.

Doctrine is something that we are obligated to learn, in order to grow up in our spiritual life.

The covering and veil, are items of clothing that are typically used to cover up ones shame, disgust, sins, and so forth.

And so by doctrine, which in this case is a specific reference to the work of Christ on the Cross, that veil or covering is totally removed, destroyed.  Christ paid the price for sin, which hid us from the face of God, from a relationship with God, and now being removed, we have free access to God through Christ.

Christ removed the covering of sin by means of His work on the cross.  We remove the covering or veil of sin in our life through confession, which restores us back into fellowship, after we commit sins and lose our fellowship.

This confession process of course only applies to believers, and to the function of their spiritual life.

Spiritual growth through learning Bible doctrine replaces the content of our soul with truth, which further removes the covering of disgrace, through the completion process of advancement to spiritual maturity.

The ultimate removal, will come at the resurrection when we receive incorruptible resurrection bodies.

Isaiah 25:6

Copyright Ó 2015 J. Neely
Isaiah 25:6

6 And in this mountain [har] shall the LORD [Y@hovah] of hosts [tsaba'] make [`asah] unto all people [`am] a feast [mishteh] of fat things [shemen], a feast [mishteh] of wines on the lees [shemer], of fat things [shemen] full of marrow [machah], of wines on the lees [shemer] well refined [zaqaq].   KJV-Interlinear

6 On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.  ESV

And as for those who are obedient to God, which means obedience in accordance with Gods standards, not in accordance with mans standards, for most people do their own thing and not Gods will.  But anyway, for those who abide by Gods will, then there is blessing beyond imagination.

And here the best of the best is described.

A feast is a banquet.  Everything is cooked, baked, prepared to perfection.  You do not have to do any of the preparation, nor any of the cleanup afterward.  Blessings come from God already ready.  And they come in great abundance.  There are no shortages.

As for the wines, the word for lees, refers to the best of the best.  Lees well refined, is a reference to the finest of aged wines.

The whole point here is that the quality is far beyond anything that is available in this world, by this world.

Gods kitchen is of the highest quality.  Gods blessings are gifts and they are the best of the best and better than the best.

So, in all of these prophecies which we have been studying in Isaiah, there is an obvious difference between pursuing the world and pursuing Gods will.

The world is corruption and destruction and worse.

Gods way is blessing and more blessing and even more than that forever.

How could anyone not choose God?  How could anyone ignore their daily study?

Isaiah 25:5

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Isaiah 25:5

5 Thou shalt bring down [kana`] the noise [sha'own] of strangers [zuwr], as the heat [choreb] in a dry place [tsiyown]; even the heat [choreb] with the shadow [tsel] of a cloud [`ab]: the branch [zamiyr] of the terrible ones [`ariyts] shall be brought low [`anah].   KJV-Interlinear

5 like heat in a dry place. You subdue the noise of the foreigners; as heat by the shade of a cloud, so the song of the ruthless is put down.   ESV

Understanding the purpose of Gods judgment and the arrogance of wicked people, puts this verse in order.

While the wicked are constantly making noise regarding their presumed power, bragging, boasting, screaming, yelling as though they need to make everyone aware of their presence and superiority, celebrating their presumed victory over all others.

And then there is God.

So we have two symbolisms, one of heat, or the heat of the sun, and the shade of a cloud.

As for the heat, the wickedness of man is as the heat of violence in the dealings of wickedness against the righteous.  The wicked taking that which does not belong to them, keeping out or preventing the righteous from having that which is rightfully theirs.

Then there is the heat of the sun which descends down upon an otherwise worthless and empty field, and burning it up with little or no resistance.

And so God applies the heat of a greater violence against the worthless and impotent power of the wicked and consumes them as though they were never there.

The cloud drifts over a heated or burning area and provides relief in its shade, for the overhead burning heat of the sun. The rain descends down and cools the heat and relieves the pressure.

And thus the song or the boastings of the wicked are silenced into nothing.  Their false victory fades as they no longer exist.

The righteous receive relief and victory by doing virtually nothing.

Isaiah 25:4

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Isaiah 25:4

4 For thou hast been a strength [ma`owz] to the poor [dal], a strength [ma`owz] to the needy ['ebyown] in his distress [tsar], a refuge [machaceh] from the storm [zerem], a shadow [tsel] from the heat [choreb], when the blast [ruwach] of the terrible ones [`ariyts] is as a storm [zerem] against the wall [qiyr].  KJV-Interlinear

4 For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat; for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall,     ESV

While the nations of the world should be the strength and safety and liberty and freedom for their respective citizens, they are in reality, no more than a burden and threat to one and all.  Leaders lust for power and authority and wealth while citizens lust for the free ride for which someone else needs to pay.

And thus we have the storm, ‘zerem,’ which is the tempest, flood, fury, of life.  And not only a storm, but one against the wall, meaning that you have nowhere to go to escape its power and destruction.  We call this being trapped between the rock and a hard place.  You have no options and no way out.  You are totally at the mercy of the storm, if it chooses to show any mercy, that is.  And the world is not a merciful place.

But Christianity, has a God, who is Jesus Christ, who is not only merciful, but a shelter where there is no shelter, and a strength where there is no strength, and relief where there is no relief.

Leaving your life at the mercy of the world is leaving your life to certain doom.

And when there is a way out of that doom, then not pursuing that way, is the epitome of foolishness.

That way is of course, faith in Christ, for salvation, in case you have not yet believed in Him.  And, once you have believed, then advancing in your spiritual life as God expects you to advance, by way of pursuing a daily Bible study.  It just does not get any simpler.

And yet people fail to see the simplicity, and that is why they fail.  And worse, they do not see their failure until it is too late.

Isaiah 25:3

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Isaiah 25:3

3 Therefore shall the strong [`az] people [`am] glorify [kabad] thee, the city [qiryah] of the terrible [`ariyts] nations [gowy] shall fear [yare'] thee.  KJV-Interlinear

3 Therefore strong peoples will glorify you; cities of ruthless nations will fear you.   ESV

More often than not, people do not pay attention to God or Christ or the Bible.  Even among those who follow different religions, they live their life with their religion intertwined in one way or another, but they are not fanatically inclined to follow their religion to the letter.  It is more for public show, or convenience, than anything.

Then there comes a time when reality steps into the life of the person and God demonstrates the fallacy of their pattern of life.  That living a life without truth, is living a lie, and being oblivious to truth, will end up getting you into trouble.  That eventual trouble will be a real eye opener.

Unfortunately the word for glorify here refers to only recognition of something or someone greater than they are.

And fear, refers to dread.

When people live in a fog with respect to reality, then when reality strikes, they are shocked or put into shock.

This does not mean they will change their ways or change their life or their beliefs.  It only means that they will suddenly be afraid of something that is more powerful and dreadful for the time being.  Most every unbeliever will look at disaster or hard times and expect that they will pass, just as the weather passes or as the seasons pass.

But in the final end of ones life, or in this case at the end of history, things will not simply pass by and resume as they were.  At the end of ones life, the end is final with no do-overs, with no continuations.

And at the end of history, the recognition of God and His awesome power will be universal and worldwide and final.

Isaiah 25:2

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Isaiah 25:2

2 For thou hast made [suwm] of a city [`iyr] an heap [gal]; of a defenced [batsar] city [qiryah] a ruin [mappalah]: a palace ['armown] of strangers [zuwr] to be no city [`iyr]; it shall never [`owlam] be built [banah].   KJV-Interlinear

2 For you have made the city a heap, the fortified city a ruin; the foreigners’ palace is a city no more; it will never be rebuilt.    ESV

The destruction of human tyranny clears the way for the glorification of God and the vindication of truth over the lies and false opinions and corruptions of evil.

A city, is a generic term not referring to any single city but to all cities.

They are the pride of human construction, symbols of human ingenuity and wealth and culture, the palaces of strangers or foreigners, or those set apart from God, and yet their destiny is destruction.

The end result is that they will all be destroyed in a very short time, and then they will never rise again.

What will remain is God and truth and Gods plan, for all who have looked to God, in obedience to His principles and mandates and plan, resulting in the completion of themselves as people, and in the fulfilment of their lives if they pursue Gods plan for themselves, as God has always intended.

To pursue your own agenda, is to pursue a dead end.

To ignore Gods mandates, is to ignore truth and life's opportunities.

To remain neither hot nor cold, but somewhere in the middle, is to be wrapped up in ones own delusion of self-advancement, resulting in neither coming or going anywhere in life.

The one and only way to succeed in life is to end your own direction, and knuckle down to a daily study and be taught and learn and advance as God intends.

Isaiah 25:1

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Isaiah 25:1

1 O LORD [Yahovah], thou art my God ['elohiym]; I will exalt [ruwm] thee, I will praise [yadah] thy name [shem]; for thou hast done [`asah] wonderful [pele'] things; thy counsels [`etsah] of old [rachowq] are faithfulness ['emuwnah] and truth ['omen].   KJV-Interlinear

1 O LORD, you are my God; I  will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure.   ESV

Even though humanity has and will make his own destiny into a heap of dismal and destructive ends, it is Gods plan, that was made long, long ago, that has never changed and that has sought the very best for humanity.

Gods plan is for the entire world, for the entire human race.

God desires that all should be saved and that all should advance to their fullest spiritual capacity.

But it is man, or each individual that prevents these desires from becoming a reality.

Many refuse to believe in Christ.

Many refuse to engage in a daily study, in order to learn, in order to grow up, in order to advance in their spiritual life and existence.

These failures cannot be ascribed to God, when man refuses.

Gods plan was established in eternity past.  And even though the world will come to a very dramatic and horrible end, it is still Gods plan that is both personal and vast to care for the needs of the individual as well as the design for the entire human race through all generations.

God created a perfect universe, designed for habitation.  Satan ruined it.

God created a perfect Garden, designed for mans wonderful life.  Man ruined it.

Name one thing that Satan has done that is beneficial for all.

Name one thing that man had done for all.

Sin has destroyed and sin will always destroy.

Arrogance prevents advancement and completion of oneself. And yet it is each person, never God, who hinders Gods plan for themselves.

To praise God, to worship God, to exalt God, requires a dedication to ones daily study as God mandates and expects.  To do otherwise, is disobedience to God as well as a huge disregard for His plan, and a huge adherence for ones own designs in life.
