Psalm 27:10
10 When my father ['ab] and my mother ['em] forsake [`azab] me, then the LORD [Yahovah]
will take me up ['acaph]. KJV-Interlinear
10 For
my father and my mother have forsaken me, But the Lord will take me up. NASB
Probably one of the strongest
bonds that can exist between two people, is that bond between a mother and her
child. And if there is a second strongest bond, then one would think it is
between a dad and his family.
If the child has anyone
in the world to look to, it certainly should be his parents.
But we all know that
there are many instances in life where those bonds break down, for whatever
reason, and children are left without any support, or to their own devices.
And what David is saying
in this psalm, is that, given the strongest bonds that can possibly exist in
this world, there is nothing in this world that can be relied on as permanent,
and even the strongest relationships can and do fail.
But there is one bond,
one relationship, that will never fail no matter what the circumstances, no
matter what the situation, no matter what the handicaps, no matter what the
attitude might be for the believer in this life. And that unbreakable bond is
between God and believer.
From the moment you
believe in Christ, from that moment on you are saved, you are born again, you
are entered into the family of God, just like any child is born into its family.
In this world you can lose your family or you may not even know who your family
is, but in the spiritual realm you can never lose your family or your
relationship with God.
Your relationship, as a
believer in Christ, is unbreakable. God will not break it, and try as you may,
you cannot break it, no matter what.
One of the fundamental
foundations of Christianity, is eternal security. Once you have been born, you
cannot unborn yourself. Once you have been born again, you cannot unborn
yourself. Once you have believed in Christ, you cannot unbelief that belief as
though it had never happened, because once something has happened it can’t be
reversed. It is recorded in time and history and cannot be erased.
Relationships in this
world can come and go. Some can survive the difficult times, while many
relationships crumble with relative ease.
And while you may feel
sad, or sorry, or embarrassed, or just plain angry because a relationship that
you felt should have been there and was not, you need to realize that anything
and everything in this world will be temporary at best. And, there is nothing
in this world that you can depend on for the long haul.
There is only one safe
and secure and reliable and dependable source, and that is God. To look
anywhere else, to the exclusion of God, will only set you up for disappointment
and heartache.
Gods love for you will
never break and will never go away, and will never diminish.
All the more reason for
you to enhance and enrich your relationship with God, by pursuing your
spiritual life.
