Psalm 18:24
24 Therefore hath the LORD [Yahovah] recompensed [shuwb] me
according to my righteousness, [tsedeq]
according to the cleanness [bor] of my hands [yad] in his eyesight. [`ayin]KJV-Interlinear
24
Therefore the Lord has recompensed me according to my righteousness, According
to the cleanness of my hands in His eyes. NASB
Recompensed, ‘shuwb,’
means to turn back, away, fetch home, recover, refresh, render, compensate.
God restores us, and
rewards us, and blesses us, and interacts with us, based on our spiritual life,
not on our carnal earthly life.
You can perform all of
the good deeds in the world, have the most sincere intentions in the world, and
it will mean nothing if your spiritual life is dysfunctional or non-existent.
But here your spiritual
life is defined by God, based on His standards, not on your standards.
Your righteousness is
really Gods righteousness which is in you, and that righteousness is evaluated
in accordance with the cleanness of your hands.
So what does that mean?
Cleanliness is that which
is done or performed or accomplished apart from the sin nature.
Anything that is done by
the sin nature is not cleanliness, but is filth.
Anything that is done or
performed or accomplished from within the spiritual realm is done so in cleanliness,
or within a realm or environment of cleanliness.
The spiritual life is the
absence of sin. The spiritual life is
what the bible defines as being in fellowship and is accomplished by means of
confession of ones sins to God the Father.
As a believer in Christ
you are still subject to sin since you still have a physical body that contains
the sin nature. However, God allows you
to place yourself in a position of sinless perfection by simply acknowledging
your sins to Him. That recognition is
your confession of your sins, which is in turn your compliance with His
mandates for recognizing the work of Christ in the payment of sin on the Cross.
You are still a sinful
creature, but this perfection is positional, not literal, and is a means for
you to live or attempt to live, a life of sinlessness. By monitoring your sins,
combined with a daily study and learning and growing up, you will tend to be
more and more in fellowship and less and less out of fellowship.
Righteousness is that
which sets the standards of morality or perfection, or virtue or decency. However, it is Gods righteousness that is
absolute perfection, not yours.
Therefore you must be in fellowship in order to obtain His standards of
which give credit to Christ, and not to yourself.
Cleanliness of ones
hands, is a reference to the things that you do on a daily basis. Whether it is sleeping or working or studying
or praying or eating or taking a shower or doing whatever, these things are
things that you do day in and day out.
However for them to be classified as clean, they must be done while you
are in fellowship.
Therefore, you monitor
your own life, not someone else's. You
monitor your life moment by moment and day by day as a soldier stands watch at
his station, looking out for the enemy.
You are looking out for sin in your life.
Sooner or later you are
going to sin, and when that happens, then you confess it, or as soon as you
remember to confess it, then you do. The
more time you spend out of fellowship, the more time you lose in your spiritual
life. The more time you spend in fellowship,
the more time you have with God and Gods blessing, the more time you have for
spiritual production, which leads to greater and greater spiritual benefits.
As you study and grow up
in our spiritual life, then the quality of your spiritual production
increases. A spiritually mature person
produces more and better quality, than an immature person.
Therefore, your life is
evaluated by God, based on your righteousness, which means God evaluates your
spiritual production, which is anything and everything that you think or do
while in fellowship.
The better spiritual foundation
or better spiritual structure that you have within you, due to your spiritual growth,
allows you better production. A factory
in top condition with all of the resources available to it, produces more and
better than a factory that is in a state of disrepair and lacks resources.
