Psalm 10:8

Copyright Ó 2011 J. Neely
Psalm 10:8

8 He sitteth [yashab] in the lurking places [ma'arab] of the villages: [chatser] in the secret places [mictar] doth he murder [harag] the innocent: [naqiy] his eyes [`ayin] are privily set [tsaphan] against the poor. [chelaka']KJV-Interlinear

8 He sits in the lurking places of the villages; In the hiding places he kills the innocent; His eyes stealthily watch for the unfortunate. NASB

The wicked hides himself as he sees fit. Thinking that his hiding place is his place of security.

The hiding place of the wicked is within the lies of the world in which he believes himself safe.

The villages, is a term representative of a collection of tents or buildings where honorable people, city folk or even country folk, if you will, live in the safe activities of their daily life.  Their lives are open and visible to all.

Truth provides a safe haven, a living environment, a village in which people may live and thrive and prosper as they choose.

The wicked lurks in the shadows of lies, hoping for an opportunity wherein they may come in and take that which does not belong to them.

Murder means the taking of another life, but it also means the permanent removal of something that belongs to someone else.  The innocent is not so much a person who is perfect, but refers to the victim of the wicked.

The wicked hides in the shadows of lies, they seek to take from others, something that does not belong to them.  They try to murder in effect, their victims, by taking their things, their life, their property, their privacy (as in gossip).

The senses are our gateway to and from the soul.  We see with our eyes, but for the wicked, that sight feeds their greed.  They look for opportunity, and watch in secret, making their intention hidden.  They are deceitful in their intentions, and lurk in the shadows of observation.

Their victims are the poor, the wretched, the defenseless, those who are open to the trickery of his ways, and at risk because of the ways of the world.  This is the devils world.  Anyone who pursues truth is outnumbered in the world, and therefore defenseless, as seen through the eyes of the wicked.

But the wicked pursues everyone, even other wicked. There is no honor among thieves. All are subject to theft and murder.

God is the only owner of creation.  His intended gifts are meant for His family only.  Gods family consists of believers only.  And the only members who are the most honorable of recipients are mature believers.

Unbelievers are not of Gods family and are therefore wicked.  Defiant believers, are disobedient members of Gods family, and are therefore numbered among the wicked as imitators of unbelievers.  And together with unbelievers, all wicked seek to take that which does not belong to them.

All wicked peoples lurk in the shadows of the false, watch with deceit, and murder and steal through depriving the God given rights of others.
