Psalm 31:4
4 Pull me out [yatsa'] of the net [resheth] that [zuw] they have laid
privily [taman] for me: for thou art my
strength [ma`owz]. KJV-Interlinear
4 Thou
wilt pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me; For Thou art
my strength. NASB
The net refers to the many
snares and traps of the world, that are laid out in order to entrap you and
lead you away from truth and Gods plan for your life. Most people are trapped by means of their own
unresponsiveness to what God expects. Perhaps
this applies to you. God mandates that
you study daily, that you confess regularly, that you live within the spiritual
environment that He has designed. Most
do not even make an effort to do that.
They, is an ambiguous
term that refers to all that is in opposition to God. It could refer to people, to politics, to
social standards, to religious beliefs, to philosophies, to beliefs in general,
to temptations or enticements, or to things or attitudes.
The word for privily, ‘taman,’
means covering, hidden, secretly. The
traps and nets of the world are laid privately, secretly, deceitfully, camouflaged,
under concealment. And therefore they are
presented as reasonable or natural, but have hidden agendas, which is to entrap
and to destroy your life and you.
But there is a defense
against these traps of the world, and that defense is bible doctrine.
Strength, ‘maowz,’ refers
to a fortified place, a defense, a rock, a stronghold.
God does not reach down
out of heaven and grab you by the collar.
He does not transport you into a fort constructed of stone and
steel. But He does provide the one and
only source of true strength, which is bible doctrine. But you have to learn it in order to possess
it, and, make it serve you.
