girded me with gladness; NASB
Your mental health is
dependent entirely on the content of your soul.
And, there are two sources of content that affect your soul. The first source is the world, both academic
and experiential, and the second is spiritual.
The world or temporal
content, enters directly into your soul forming your thoughts and memories and
knowledge and such.
The second, or spiritual
content, enters into your soul by means of the Holy Spirit, but only when you
are in fellowship, and is filtered through your human spirit, and when believed
or accepted, is entered into your soul to form the building material for the
spiritual structure within your soul that gives you discernment, insight, a
lens through which you can see the truth of life clearly, and becomes the
foundation for the spiritual fortress, temple, mansion structure within your
soul. Review the soul charts for each of
the believer in and out of fellowship, as well as the unbeliever, from the charts
menu in the online charts library on the bible study.
This lays the groundwork
for your spiritual production and the buildup of your spiritual muscle, namely
faith.
With world only content, your
life is dependent on world views. And since
the world lacks a spiritual view, then all world views are skewed and distorted
and incomplete, subject to interpretational errors. Your life becomes a roller coaster subject to
the circumstances of life. If things are
good, then you are up. If things are
bad, then you are down. And so goes your
emotional instabilities of life.
Spiritual content
provides a stabilizing force within your soul, a cleansing mechanism with which
you can discern the truth from the false.
Spiritual content gives you growth, real growth, orientation, real
orientation to life and everything around you.
Therefore, when the
circumstances of life bring mourning or grief or bereavement or anxieties or
pressures of any kind into your life, then doctrine in your soul stabilizes
them and brings you a relaxed mental attitude, a contentment, and poise, from
which you can endure the bad of the world and still focus on and enjoy the good
and the glad of the spiritual side of life.
After all, the world is temporary,
and the spiritual is permanent and eternal.
With doctrine, the
mourning and grieving of life can be turned into happiness and comfort. The sackcloth or state of misery and sorrow
can be turned into contentment and understanding.
But, you have to learn
doctrine in order to know it, and you have to know doctrine in order to utilize
it in your daily life.
