Isaiah 14:13ues

13 For thou hast said ['amar] in thine heart [lebab], I will ascend [`alah] into heaven [shamayim], I will exalt [ruwm] my throne [kicce'] above [ma`al] the stars [kowkab] of God ['el]: I will sit [yashab] also upon the mount [har] of the congregation [mow`ed], in the sides [yarekah] of the north [tsaphown]: KJV-Interlinear

13 "But you said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, And I will sit on the mount of assembly In the recesses of the north.  NASB

We saw in yesterday’s study that the name, Lucifer, meant bright or brightness, or morning or day star. And, that greatness or brightness fell from grace.

And here is why. Arrogance.

In his heart, which now identifies a thinking person, there was arrogance. And the arrogance was a lust to ascend into heaven, which means to overthrow the throne of God, and assume God’s title and dominion over the stars and the universe and all of the living creatures that lived there.

All of this occurred at some point in eternity past, prior to the history of man, prior to our prehistoric history.

The phrase, sides of the North, refers to a part, a quarter, a flank by direction.

This phrase also occurs in Psalm 48:2, as a reference to a position on mount Zion, the dwelling place of God and ruler over Jerusalem, the city of peace. That peace, describes the sum total of Gods essence and his dominion and power and authority over all that is.

In Ezekiel 43:1-4, we know that when the temple is built, the main entrance is on the East side. God’s glory faces that entrance. Therefore God is looking West while facing the main entrance of the temple.

The Lord, Jesus Christ, will sit at the right hand of God, and when looking West the right hand is to the north.

Way back before the fall of Lucifer, by this we can know that the second person of the Trinity, Jesus Christ, was portrayed as the heir over all that is. And he would sit at the right hand of the Father.

Lucifer therefore, desired to have that position of power and authority for himself, and that resulted in his arrogance and in his rebellion against God, as well as his rejection of Jesus Christ.

The stars, not only refers to all of the universe, but also refers to earthly kings, or in this case since humanity had not yet been created, to all of the angelic leaders in their various ranks and positions of authority.

The mount of the congregation, is the place and dwelling and position of the throne of God the Father, in his place of authority and rule, as he faces all of creation.

Lucifer wanted it all, and thus his fall from grace in eternity past which led to a trial and some sort of offering of repentance, which two thirds of the Angel population accepted, but Lucifer and the remaining one third of the Angel population, rejected.  Thus their condemnation and conviction and sentencing to the Lake of Fire, which is an eternal separation from God.

This led to Lucifer’s name change, from brightness or star, to that of Satan or devil, which means slanderer or accuser, both of which become descriptive terms of Lucifer’s persistent challenge of, and rejection of, God, throughout history.

Satan did way back then, the same exact thing that people do today. They try to take things that they lust for, rejecting all manner of truth. They try to control things over which they have no control, such as their very existence, or their daily lives, or even their destinies.  They reject truth and therefore they reject God.

Satan knew the plan of God, way back before there was man, and he rejected it.

Today people know the plan of God, and yet they openly reject it, and pursue that which they cannot have and never will have. And, this applies not only to unbelievers who openly present or reject Christ, but also it applies to to believers who, for whatever reason, are simply not interested in learning the word of God as they are intended to learn it.

The written word, is the same as the living person of Christ. Therefore, no matter how overtly pious a person tries to be or pretends to be, when they reject their daily study of Bible doctrine, then there is an underlying arrogance of their assumption that they don’t need to learn Gods word, and therefore that is a rejection of Christ.

For unbelievers, the price of rejection is the eternal Lake of Fire.

For believers, the price of rejection is a dysfunctional spiritual life, lack of spiritual growth, failure in ones spiritual life, and loss of one’s eternal reward.
