Psalm 27:2

2 When the wicked [ra`a`], even mine enemies [tsar] and my foes ['oyeb], came [qarab] upon me to eat up ['akal] my flesh [basar], they stumbled [kashal] and fell [naphal]. KJV-Interlinear

2 When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell. NASB

Throughout his life, David faced all sorts of enemies.

During his younger years, when he was a shepherd and was attending the flocks for his parents, all sorts of dangers existed from the presence of wild animals that would, from time to time, try to take one of the animals in the flock.

During his years when Saul was King, Saul became his adversary, and so David was faced with dangers because of Sauls jealousy towards him.

When David became king, then he faced many battles with foreign enemies as well as domestic enemies, even enemies from within his own family. And even within the functions of government, having political enemies is something that always exists.

Life provides two environments in which you live your life. The first environment is the temporal environment wherein we all live within the structure of this world. The second environment is the spiritual environment, within which only believers in fellowship, live.

When you live only within the temporal world, two sets of rules apply. The first set deals with the jungle rules, where there are arbitrary standards that govern life, and sooner or later everyone loses. The second set of rules includes the laws of divine establishment, that God has provided in order to offset and stabilize the otherwise unstable jungle rules.

In the jungle, you survive if you are bigger or tougher or smarter or quicker. But no matter how big or tough or smart or quick you are, everyone grows old, and with age, all of those characteristics fade away. Therefore, sooner or later you lose.

With the laws of divine establishment, there is restraint placed against the laws of the jungle. And that is the only thing that prevents man from destroying himself, and allows man’s existence to continue in history.

In the spiritual realm, there are additional rules that exist to guide and protect and direct one’s life.

God has a plan for your life. And when God’s plan is operational, which simply means that you are functioning within your spiritual life as you should, then there are additional protections, a wall fire as it were, that are there to protect your life.

This is the Devils world. And within this world there are all kinds of enemies who are out to get you, to malign you, to get even with you, to gossip against you, to defeat you, to do whatever they can in order to get what they want by preventing you from getting what you want or need.

Your enemies can be military enemies, or terrorist or criminal type enemies, or political enemies, including petty politics within the workplace, or social enemies including family enemies.

Your enemies can come from all walks of life, most of whom you probably will never know about.

If you live your life only within the temporal structure of this world, then you have no protection except for whatever worldly resources you have around you.  And those resources, insurance, work, youth, health, etc., always fade away.

If you live your life within the spiritual structure of God’s design, the you have unseen protections that work in your behalf, most of which you will never know about.

God has a plan for your life. When, by your choice, you function within God’s plan, then that plan cannot be derailed, cannot be stopped, and cannot be prevented from advancing to its designed completion.
