Psalm 27:9

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Psalm 27:9

9 Hide [cathar] not thy face [paniym] far from me; put [natah] not thy servant [`ebed] away [natah] in anger ['aph]: thou hast been my help [`ezrah]; leave [natash] me not, neither forsake [`azab] me, O God ['elohiym] of my salvation [yesha`]. KJV-Interlinear

9 Do not hide Thy face from me, Do not turn Thy servant away in anger; Thou hast been my help; Do not abandon me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation!  NASB

Your best friend, your best person to know, your very best connection in all of life, is God.

God is truth.  God is life.  God is the sovereign force and power and authority in all of existence.

It is God that controls history. It is God that places people into history and removes them based on His perfect foreknowledge of all future events.  It is God that holds this universe and all of existence together.  Without God nothing would exist.  Without God, you would not have any kind of destiny, and certainly you would not even exist.

Without God in your life, you face phenomenal loss and perhaps worse.

Never believe in Christ and you face the eternal Lake of Fire.  Believe in Christ, but remain indifferent toward your spiritual obligations and role in life, and you face loss of eternal reward, not to mention losing the opportunity to glorify Christ by means of your life in this life.

By being indifferent, by being apathetic, by believing that you know it all and do not need to follow Gods counsel, do not need to abide by Gods rules, believe that you can establish your own rules for life, rejecting the role that God placed you in, in life, then your failure and loss of Gods attention is certain.

The one person in all of existence, that you need the most, is God.

The one person that most people disregard in life, is God.  But ignoring Gods expectations of you for life is the very biggest mistake that anyone can make, especially when you may not see your error until it is too late, when you have been removed from this life, and then cannot do it over.

Pursue your spiritual life, as God expects, in accordance with Gods design, fulfill the obligations toward self and others as God has designed, and the distance and separation suggested by this verse will not occur and you will have the bestest best friend in heaven, ever.

God invented and created this universe in all of its vast and minute detail. He should be the one that guides your life.

Galatians 4:24

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Galatians 4:24

24 Which things [hostis] are [esti] an allegory [allegoreo]: for [gar] these [houtos] are [eisi] the two [duo] covenants [diatheke]; the one [mia] [men] from [apo] the mount [oros] Sinai [Sina], which gendereth [gennao] to [eis] bondage [douleia], which [hostis] is [esti] Agar [Hagar].  KJV-Interlinear

24 This is allegorically speaking: for these women are two covenants, one proceeding from Mount Sinai bearing children who are to be slaves; she is Hagar  NASB

And now Paul makes it clear that he is using these people, as symbols for his teaching example.

An allegory is a parable, symbolism, a metaphor, a representation wherein he is using real people and their circumstances, to explain a principle of doctrine.

That principle being the difference between works or human works, and spiritual works.  The former being the design of people doing their own thing, making their own plans, and the latter being divine design wherein God does all of the work, and advances life in accordance with His divine plan.

And so Hagar, represents the Law or Mt. Sinai, because the Law came to Moses while on the mountain.

Hagar was a slave.  The Law describes and explains the slavery of man to his own works, or put in another way, the works of man which put and keep man in slavery.

The Law which Moses wrote, documents and defines perfection.  This is something that man cannot accomplish.  Man cannot live a perfect life.  If he could, then he would in fact be a god himself.  And of course we know that none of us are gods, or even little gods, even though there are those who might believe that of themselves.

And so, Hagar was born a slave, lived her life as a slave, and had a child representing Abrahams production, as a slave, and were then thrown out while remaining slaves.  Slavery, and its activities and its life and its production all remain slaves.

A slave cannot free himself unless he pays a hefty price, and the price for sin is far beyond mans means.

Even if a slave runs away or is sent away, he remains a slave, never being recognized by anyone as anything other than slave.

When you live in slavery, you have no hope from yourself or from the world.  The world does not care, and Satan runs this world and gladly sacrifices any and all in order to promote his, Satan’s, agenda, not yours.

And since man cannot live a perfect life, and even more than that, cannot pay the price for sin, which means to suffer the divine penalty and judgment for sin and then defeat death.  All of which is infinitely beyond mans resources.

God promised Abraham, a son, but his promise was one based on the principle of truth.  Isaac was son from the legitimate marriage, but Christ was the son of the promise, both synchronized  through the natural line of Christ and with all integrity intact.

Hagar was not a wife, but a mistress, and therefore her child was illegitimate and not of the line of promise.  Hagar was not Gods plan, but Abrahams panic plan.  Abraham tried to invent his own way which is human works with total disregard for Gods plan.

And in this principle we should see that anything that you do, that is apart from Gods design, is wrong, and more than wrong, it is evil.

Peter did not want Jesus to die, but that would be Satan’s plan, thus derailing Gods salvation plan for man.  Peter proposed an emotional and evil plan in opposition to Gods plan.

People do not want to study to demonstrate their spiritual growth, but want to do things in their own way, in their own time.  Most folks just want to quote scripture and impress others.  Most folks have no spiritual discipline because they choose to ignore Gods mandates to confess in order to live in fellowship, refuse to study under instruction because they already know it all and/or do not believe they need to be taught anything.

Or, they are authorities in their own eyes, and study is somehow beneath them.  Or, they define their own methods of study as being sufficient  Or, they prefer gimmicks that are exciting or convenient, or simply easy because they don’t have to commit to some study obligation as required by God.

Then again there are those who simply do not care for any of this bible stuff.  There are just too many other things to deal with in life and reading a book or listening to some preacher repeat the same things over and over again, things that they have already heard, is not one of them.

And so they miss the whole point of the spiritual life, and as Hagar lived, so too they live, but without knowing it.

The secret to spiritual growth is not in the individual words in the Bible, for anyone can read the bible and go nowhere.  Satan knows the bible better than anyone and he has no spiritual life.

The secret, is in the obedience to Gods mandates for functioning in the spiritual life, by means of faith.  Which means, belief in Christ to get saved, and then following salvation, to confess ones sins, to study daily, and to use doctrinal principles in your daily life, and then God takes over and constructs a spiritual fortress within your soul.  All of which is unseen, unfelt, undetectable, but accomplished miraculously by God within you.  And eventually you begin to see and understand and orient to life as life unfolds all around you.

All the while everyone else around you, believes that you are a fool, when in fact they are the fools for chasing slavery.

Galatians 4:23

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Galatians 4:23

23 But [alla] he [men] who was of [ek] the bondwoman [paidiske] was born [gennao] after [kata] the flesh [sarx]; but [de] he of [ek] the freewoman [eleutheros] was by [dia] promise [epaggelia].  KJV-Interlinear

23 But the son by the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and the son by the free woman through the promise. NASB

The phrase, bondwoman born according to the flesh, is a part of Paul’s symbolism tying together slavery, coming from the term bondwoman, and worldly, coming from the term flesh.

And the phrase, freewoman by promise, is being used symbolically to tie together freedom, coming from the word freewoman, and promise, referring to Gods will.

Your status in life has nothing to do whatsoever with your success or failure in life.

You can be wealthy beyond imagination, but that does not make you successful.

You can be dirt poor and unemployed, but that does not make you failure.

The world ties success or failure, to things, or to status, or to achievement, or the lack of these things. But such is not the case.

If you are a person who is extremely smart, and extremely wealthy, and extremely talented, and extremely accomplished in life, and you live your whole life with the best of the best all around you, and then you die without having believed in Christ. Your destiny is the Lake of Fire, which is the worst possible outcome anyone can have from their life.

So from your birth to your death, which may be sixty or eighty or hundred years of age, or more, or less, then that lifespan is but a pinprick on a galaxy, when compared to all of eternity. This makes you the quintessence of failure.

If you are a person who is extremely poor, who has no talent, no ability, no achievements or status in life. You are typically referred to as scum and worthless by the world. But if you had the sense to believe in Christ, and you had the desire to listen and learn Bible doctrine whenever you could, even while standing in a soup line, and thus possessed some semblance of spiritual growth for your life. Then you will be going to heaven, and standing before the Lord and receiving mind-boggling reward because of your spiritual life, and thus have blessings beyond imagination for all of eternity. This makes you the quintessence of success.

Things or abilities or status in life have nothing whatsoever to do with whether you will be successful or a failure in life.

The existence of your spiritual life, or lack of it, determines the ultimate outcome of your life.

Paul is giving an example comparing slavery because of a relationship with the world, to freedom because a relationship with God.

Abraham had two sons. His first two sons, which are being used in this example.

The first son, was born as a result of Abraham’s attempt to define and determine his own life. And in this effort, we call human works.

God had made him a promise that he would have a son. But no son came along, and so Abraham decided on his own, to have a son, but not with his wife who seemed incapable of childbirth, but with a slave woman who could easily get pregnant and have children.

But God’s promise was made based on truth and what is right, and that means a proper son, born of a legitimate wife, in the normal course of a marriage and life.

The whole principle of this particular verse teaches that when you stubbornly pursue your own life in accordance with your own plans, in total disregard to God’s plan, then you are chasing down the wrong path, and the inevitable result will be failure. You cannot chase life for the sake of life and expect to gain anything for the long, very long term.

God has a plan for your life. And more often than not you’re going to face many difficulties, even difficulties that will seem insurmountable. And you will be tempted to plot and plan your own way out. Those plots and plans will arise because of your absence from a daily Bible study. Therefore, any and all plots and plans that you might have, when they arise apart from doctrine, are false.

If you pursue Bible doctrine, with a genuine desire to learn and grow in your spiritual life, then God will present to you, or you will figure out on your own, the correct plots and plans that you need to pursue in order to overcome any and all difficulties in life, which includes simply living with them if necessary.

Pursue the world only, and anything you have or don’t have, or think you have, or think you don’t have, is failure.

Pursue Bible doctrine from instruction while in fellowship, on a daily basis without exception, and you will grow up in your spiritual life. And the results of your life may not be measured in terms of wealth or success in this world, but when you get to heaven you will have tens of trillions of trillions of years to celebrate real success.

Isaiah 14:24

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Isaiah 14:24ues

24 The LORD [Yahovah] of hosts [tsaba'] hath sworn [shaba], saying ['amar], Surely as I have thought [damah], so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed [ya`ats], so shall it stand [quwm]: KJV-Interlinear

24 The Lord of hosts has sworn saying, "Surely, just as I have intended so it has happened, and just as I have planned so it will stand, NASB

This is an emphatic statement of certainty.

The phrase, I have thought, means the design and intent that God has foreseen in eternity past. And therefore, just as God has foreseen, then so it shall be.

And as God has purposed, refers to his divine decision and determination based on all of the facts of history.

And finally, the phrase, so shall it stand, simply means that nothing in history will change this outcome.

And that is our lesson from this verse.

These verses were written by Isaiah over 2800 years ago. Anyone and everyone who has ever lived and has been able to read or hear or learn, has had ample opportunity to know this text, and this prophecy.

The Bible discloses innumerable details of future events. People from generation to generation throughout history have been familiar with these prophecies, or have had opportunity to become familiarized with these prophecies.

But even the knowledge and even the understanding of the way things are going to be, is insufficient for anyone to change the ultimate outcome.

Satan for example, knows all of these prophecies in detail. He knows the certainty of Gods promise of his own demise, and yet Satan disregards all, believing that he is going to be able to overcome these prophecies and defeat God.

People throughout history, have opportunity to read and study the Bible and know their obligations and responsibilities, and understand the rules and mechanics for spiritual growth, and of the function of the spiritual life. And yet knowing, is insufficient to get them to make the right choices and pursue life as God intends for people to pursue life.

When people lack Bible doctrine in their soul, which simply means they have not taken the time to study or be taught doctrine on a regular basis day after day during their lives, then they lack truth, and they lack discernment, and they lack orientation to all of the many facets of life, which includes all of history that has gone before, as well as lacking understanding of contemporary events and where it is all heading.

Somehow, naïve people believe they can change history and either postpone or prevent the ultimate outcome of human destruction and the end of the world. And as noble a purpose that this might be, it disregards the fundamental sin nature of people, and the ultimate results of people rejecting truth, by their own choice.

Of the many trends that the Bible has used to describe our current dispensation, which we call the church age, many are notable and obvious, such as the rise in earthquake numbers, the rise in world population, the rise in science and knowledge, and such things.

But the one prediction made by both Paul and Jesus, described as the ‘great apostasy,’ will not be so easily identified, simply because the very nature of apostasy, which is indifference toward truth due to a fixated fascination of other beliefs, will blind everyone from seeing the error of their ways and therefore this prediction.

And that is the last great and final characteristic of our dispensation, which will exist prior to and during the time of the rapture. The rapture is the termination event of our dispensation. Then the seven year tribulation will take center stage.

With the restraint of sin removed, the worst evil of every possible kind will reveal itself, and occur during the tribulation. And not because God causes it, because he does not. But because people of their own free will will choose against truth, against learning doctrine under instruction, against confession in order to keep themselves in fellowship with God, against spiritual growth as God intends for everyone, and instead they will pursue evil because they choose to pursue evil.  They will refuse to disregard Gods defined responsibilities and roles for them in life.

And so these events of the tribulation and the very end of the tribulation, at the second advent, will occur with certainty.

No amount of sincerity, no amount of good intentions, no amount of believing that they can be changed, will ever change the ultimate outcome of human history.

And so God through Isaiah, clearly states here, that these events have been foreseen, that these events are by mans free choice, and therefore these events will occur. And as a result of man’s evil, God will bring it all to an end.

The same principle applies to your individual personal life. Continue pretending that you know what you’re doing, refuse to engage in a daily study of the word of God, and that means daily study, remain indifferent and apathetic toward Gods mandates in preference for the convenience of your own beliefs, and you will suffer the same outcome, perhaps not as dramatic or intense as in the tribulation, but nonetheless a failure for yourself in life.

The Bible is not a children’s book, nor a book that collects dust on the shelf, but it is the manual for the completed and fulfilled life of the individual. All you have to do is figure that out.

Isaiah 14:23

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Isaiah 14:23ues

23 I will also make [suwm] it a possession [mowrash] for the bittern [qippowd], and pools ['agam] of water [mayim]: and I will sweep [tuw'] it with the besom [mat'ate'] of destruction [shamad], saith [na'um] the LORD [Yahovah] of hosts [tsaba'].  KJV-Interlinear

23 "I will also make it a possession for the hedgehog, and swamps of water, and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction," declares the Lord of hosts.  NASB

It, is a word that refers to Babylon. Babylon is a term that symbolizes the embodiment of Satan and evil.

The word bittern, refers to rodents, or wild life that lives in or near swamps or marshes. This can include anything from porcupines or hedgehogs, to long legged marsh birds.

The word besom, refers to a broad and wide broom, that sweeps everything in its path, completely away.

Isaiah continues the Lord’s description of the complete and total destruction and annihilation, in terms that render everything after the destruction, as uninhabitable.

And this completes with certainly, the total removal of Satan and his policies and his influence, with no residue whatsoever, from planet earth, from all of creation, and certainly from the human realm.

When Christ begins his millennial reign here on earth, it will begin without any contamination from philosophy or religion, or influence that was originated by Satan either directly or indirectly, and had been carried on throughout history up until this time of his removal.

Isaiah 14:22

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Isaiah 14:22ues

22 For I will rise up [quwm] against them, saith [na'um] the LORD [Yahovah] of hosts [tsaba'], and cut off [karath] from Babylon [Babel] the name [shem], and remnant [sha'ar], and son [niyn], and nephew [neked], saith [na'um] the LORD [Yahovah].  KJV-Interlinear

22 "And I will rise up against them," declares the Lord of hosts, "and will cut off from Babylon name and survivors, offspring and posterity," declares the Lord.  NASB

The end of Satan is described.

Satan is a king want-to-be. His arrogance drove himself and everyone, out of a perfect universe into one that has suffered the influence of his evil for a very long time.

Evil is his policy, and wickedness is the production of that policy. Anyone and everyone who rejects God, or is indifferent toward God, or is apathetic toward God, or simply doesn’t care about God, automatically subscribs to Satan’s policy of evil.

There are only two philosophies with which you can guide your life. The first is truth, which comes from God, and the second is evil, which comes from Satan. Evil is anything and everything that rejects truth, compromises truth, finds excuses to set aside truth, or any and all attempts to define one’s own standards for truth in place of truth.

Satan is the ruler of this world. In his mind he is a king and royalty, and surrounded by his faithful followers.

Most people probably do not think of themselves as Satan followers, but unfortunately any and all who reject God’s way of doing things, or presume they can define their own way through life, are by default followers of Satan, simply because they do not comply with Gods mandates.

As we studied in the previous verse, the children of Satan, are his firstborn sons. These are not literal sons, or people, but evil is his son, his pride and joy, which he wants to see perpetuated throughout history.

In the royal line, there is the king and queen at the top of course, and next to them would be their brothers and sisters, as far as line of succession is concerned, and beneath all of that would be children, nieces and nephews.

All of these are references to heirs or mechanisms for perpetuating the royal line, or the royal decrees.

Babylon, as we have already seen, is the symbolism for Satan, his empire, his plan, his policies, and everything he has and does to execute his own plan, in opposition of God.

But at the end of history, God is going to change all that, and put it all to an end.

He is going to cut off Babylon, which is the concept of Satan’s Empire. He is going to cut off the name, referring to the firstborn pride and joy, which is evil. He is going to cut off the remnant, which refers to evil programs and policies that are in place on planet earth up to the time of Satan’s demise. And God is going to cut off all future possibilities, referred to here as the son and the nephew.

This will all occur at the second advent. Evil will be cut off. Evil in every form, including various concepts of government such as socialism or communism and so forth, including every form of religion such as Buddhism, or Hinduism, or Islam, including every form of philosophy such as evolution and so forth.

Every aspect of evil, everything that Satan has had his hand in, one way or another, whether religions, or philosophies, or forms of government, or social norms and standards, everything that attacks God and truth, and the divine establishment principles, all of these will come to an abrupt end.

Christ will rule for the next 1000 years. Satan’s influence will not exist at all. So, man during those next 1000 years will have only truth to guide him, or his own imagination as far as what he will or will not believe.

This will demonstrate that even with Satan out of the picture, man will still reject Christ, and even when Christ is physically here and present and ruling the planet. Even when the environment will be phenomenally perfect, and prosperity will be universal, and all of the old burdens of life simply will not exist. Even the plant life and animal life will be more than pleasant.

But even though the millennium will be a picture of perfection, by the end of the millennium, there will be a huge population will have refused to believe in Christ as their Savior. And when Satan is released from prison at the end of the millennium, that large negative population will rally to Satan, for one final battle and judgment.
