Psalm 19:11

Psalm 19:11

11 Moreover by them is thy servant [`ebed] warned: [zahar] and in keeping [shamar] of them there is great [rab] reward. [`eqeb] KJV-Interlinear

11 Moreover, by them Thy servant is warned; In keeping them there is great reward. NASB

By them, them being the content of the scriptures, the mandates, and principles, and process of the spiritual life and so forth, then by them you are warned.

Warned, ‘zahar,’ means enlightened, admonished, cautioned, to glean, to teach or to be taught, warned, placed on notice.

Keeping, ‘shamar,’ means to place a wall or hedge around, to guard, to protect, to attend to, to take heed, to be circumspect, to regard, to mark, to save, to keep or retain closely.

Great, ‘rab,’ abundant, exceeding, abound, increase, long as in length of time or great duration, multiply.

Therefore, the truths that you are taught, that are contained in the scriptures, regardless of whether you pay attention or not, serve as a warning to you.  And that warning is several-fold, however the ultimate warning and notice given to you and to every human being who has or will ever live, is that there is a phenomenal reward attached to the keeping of Gods will during your life in this world.

And if you have been following along in this study for any length of time then you know what Gods will is.  And that is simply that you grow up in your spiritual life and become complete in the design that God has intended for you.

You accomplish this by first being saved, obviously, then second by maintaining your life in fellowship with God by means of confession.  And that means confession on a regular basis.  Then third, by means of learning Gods will by learning Bible doctrine on a daily basis, through instruction.

And by this you are made aware of the phenomenal destiny that is a potential for you, along with your responsibilities and obligations as a believer in Christ.

And then you begin to apply what you know or have learned to your day to day life, and that application becomes the source of your spiritual production, which in turn becomes the finish work and muscle for your spiritual life.

Bible doctrine is the fundamental foundation and building material for the framework of your spiritual life.

Your production is the finishing work of that construction project.

This all in turn builds up your spiritual confidence, spiritual muscle, spiritual poise, and so forth and qualifies you for that ‘great’ reward for all of eternity.

So, doctrine is your beginning and your end, and is in fact the entirety of your spiritual existence which is your existence.

Even though you read the words, David did this, Adam did that, Mary and the baby and so forth, all of that serves as a form of focus for you as you spend your time in fellowship.  God does all of the work for correcting your thinking and building your discernment for life.

Anyone can read the words, but only those who comply with Gods mandates for how to read and learn and apply, will benefit spiritually from them.

The biggest barrier you have is in the recognition of that warning and reward, and making it real to yourself.

This, unfortunately, most folks give only lip service to, and never make it a part of their real life. The world around them and the priorities and beliefs that they arrange in their minds generally come first, with doctrine and Gods will and mandates, etc. getting placed on the sidelines of their life.

No one ever goes to their grave without knowing these things, and again, unfortunately, after one enters their grave, it is too late to change.

Many years ago a checklist was assembled for the spiritual life within a study, and that checklist was placed in the online Library under ‘Special Studies,’ with the study named Checklist.  You might want to revisit that study from time to time just to see where you stand.
