3 But know [yada`] that the LORD [Yahovah] hath set apart [palah] him that is godly [chaciyd] for himself: the LORD [Yahovah] will hear [shama`] when I call [qara'] unto him. KJV-Interlinear

3 But know that the Lord has set apart the godly man for Himself; The Lord hears when I call to Him. NASB

Know, ‘yada,’ means to know with certainty. This does not mean to know, maybe, or we hope to know, or we wish, or perhaps. This means certainty. There is no guessing, no luck, no chance or randomness, but with a guarantee, this knowledge is certain.

The Lord, refers to the personal name of God, who is the second person of the Trinity, namely Jesus Christ.

The Lord has set apart, ‘palah,’ to separate permanently, to distinguish as different, to sever for the purpose of making wonderful or marvelous. We have been separated out of this world, cut out of the world, made different from all that are in the world, through our faith in Christ, and through doctrine that we have learned and therefore, making a spiritual life in us, verses those who do not possess salvation and/or a spiritual life.

The godly, ‘chaciyd,’ means properly, of a kind or pattern, good, holy. The godly is the person who possess the attributes and characteristics within their soul, that God places in their soul, by means of the functioning spiritual life.

The spiritual life begins when the person believes in Christ. Being born again, means that you have a new birth into the spiritual realm that unbelievers do not have. That is the first separation.

The spiritual life develops with growth as you learn doctrine through a daily study, such as you are doing right now. Spiritual growth develops and builds within your soul, the norms and standards of the spiritual life. It constructs a temple, a fortress, a mansion within your soul.

The structure consists of a framework of doctrine, and is finished with the production of your spiritual life, when you function day to day within the fellowship sphere, utilizing Bible doctrine in your daily life. In other words, by applying Gods principles and mandates to your life, and living by them, then you produce spiritual good, or production, known as gold, silver, and precious stones or the finish work of your spiritual life.

The godly is he who study’s and learns and lives in fellowship and daily application of doctrine to ones life. The spiritually mature person.

And God separates for Himself, not for the world, but for Himself, the spiritually mature person. That is the individual who is separated apart, distinguished from, made different according to the pattern of the spiritual life. It is the spiritually mature believer who is heard, and answered when prayer is offered to God.

Spiritual maturity is defined by God (not you), accomplished by God (not you), the product of God (not you), and is a gift from God to you, which you can never earn nor deserve, transforming your life into a completed and marvelous life beyond imagination for now, and into all of eternity.
