3 For [gar] this [touto] is good [kalos] and [kai] acceptable [apodektos] in the sight [enopion] of God [theos] our [hemon] Saviour; [soter] KJV-Interlinear

3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, NASB

And why should you pray for the unbelievers and jerks of the world? Because it is the morally right thing to do.

The word for good, ‘kalos,’ means that which is intrinsically right. Intrinsic means fundamental and possessed value which never diminishes or fades. Intrinsic is a characteristic that belongs to something and can never be taken away.

Gold, for example, has always had value throughout history and will always have value. There will never be a time when Gold is without value, never be a time when gold will not be desired. Gold has intrinsic value.

And this requirement of God, to pray for others, especially unbelievers, especially for those in leadership roles, is a mandatory prayer requirement. For, praying for enlightenment, when accomplished, results in only good things for everyone.

Our earnest desire should be that all people will be saved, Rom. 9:3, 10:1.

We do not know who will believe in Christ, as many are called, but few will believe, Matt. 22:14. However, the world is entitled to know the name of Christ and who and what He is, John 17:21, 23, and the world should know, that without their savior, they will surely die, eternally separated from God, Eze. 33:11.

Prayer for others helps to train you in unselfishness. Prayer for others helps train you in avoiding elite or exclusivity attitudes. Prayer for others should help train you in humility and understanding the destiny repercussions that face others in the world. Prayer for others should help instill within you an empathy for the circumstances of others.

Prayer for others should help you get your eyes off of self, and opened up to the realities of life, and to the fact that it is Gods grace that controls your life as well as others, not you.

Prayer for others should help you establish your correct priorities in life, namely doctrine, and not your personal entertainment or whims.

Prayer for others should help you realize what is important and relevant in life, and what is not important. Namely the possible eternal destruction of others, verses your personal desires of the moment.
