Job 34:24-27

24 He shall break in pieces [ra`a`] mighty men [kabbiyr] without number [cheqer], and set [`amad] others ['acher] in their stead.
25 Therefore he knoweth [nakar] their works [ma`bad], and he overturneth [haphak] them in the night [layil], so that they are destroyed [daka'].
26 He striketh [caphaq] them as [tachath] wicked men [rasha`] in the open [maqowm] sight [ra'ah] of others;
27 Because they turned back [cuwr] from him ['achar], and would not consider [sakal] any of his ways [derek]: KJV-Interlinear

24 'He breaks in pieces mighty men without inquiry, And sets others in their place. 25 'Therefore He knows their works, And He overthrows them in the night, And they are crushed. 26 'He strikes them like the wicked In a public place, 27 Because they turned aside from following Him, And had no regard for any of His ways; NASB

God is omnipotent. He created the universe in all of its detail, out of nothing, in an instant of time. God is sovereign. He rules the universe by the power of His will. God is omniscient. There isn't anything which God does not know. He knows the knowable, as well as the unknowable. He knows the real and the possible.

God created all life and placed everyone who has ever lived, into this world.

What could man have that God does not have, or that God would want, or that God might be impressed with?

All of mans talents, abilities, possessions and so forth, came from God in the first place. Nothing that man has can save him, or be used to negotiate his way out of Gods sovereign will.

So the mighty (in their own eyes), and the wealthy, and the talented, and everyone who has or ever will live, is subject to Gods judgment.

God can come down on anyone at any time and rain down His judgment in an instant. And, there is nothing that anyone can do about it.

God breaks into pieces, or thoroughly destroys, His target, and God can place someone else in their place. Everyone is expendable. There is no one of whom this world cannot do without. Don't think too highly of yourself. Don't think that you cannot be replaced.

Whether you are a husband or wife, world leader or just a nice person, God can replace you in an instant.

But why would this happen?

Most likely it is because you have rejected God, His Word, His mandates, your spiritual life which He has provided for you, or you have been indifferent, or you believe that your way is Gods way, when it isn't.

'Turned aside,' comes in many forms. Most folks believe that all they have to do is say the right words, be seen in the right places, attend church … occasionally, just live right and be sincere. And, they couldn't be the bigger fool if they tried.

The world is 70% non-Christian. Even here in the USA, Christianity has slipped from 95% to under 80%. And even if most of those folks are in fact Christian, their attitude has slipped, and the same result of Gods judgment applies. One of the political candidates recently commented of their devotion to prayer to Jesus every night.

You should know by now that no prayer is legitimately offered to Jesus or anyone other than the Father. We pray to the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, but not to Jesus Christ. 'Our Father, who art in heaven …, in Christs name, amen.'

When potential leaders are spiritually deficient, even lacking knowledge in the most fundamental Christian concepts, and when their followers are frothing all over them, then you can be sure that the spiritual stability of the nation is lacking.

Gods judgment does not apply to unbelievers only. History should have taught us all that. Recall the devastation of the world wars, the depression, any massive storm, diseases and so forth. These impact many folks around the world, and right here at home. No one is exempt.

There is a storm brewing from which we cannot escape. It is called daily life. But we can foresee the storm and prepare ourselves and protect ourselves from its brutal force. That preparation and protection comes from our daily study of the Bible.

There is nothing you can do to alter life or the course of history. That lays in Gods hands alone. But you can know the dangers and even the danger signs, and hunker down in doctrine and ride it all out.

You might get banged around a bit, but remember that this life is not your objective. The next life is where you will spend the lions share of your existence and it is far better to be prepared for that life, while at the same time enjoying Gods protection during this one, through your spiritual growth.

Better to prepare for the storm, prior to the storm. It is much more difficult to prepare for the storm, during the storm.
