Psalm 33:1
1 Rejoice [ranan] in the LORD [Yahovah], O ye righteous [tsaddiyq]:
for praise [tahillah] is comely [na'veh] for the upright [yashar]. KJV-Interlinear
1 Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the
upright. ESV
The natural sequence
within the spiritual life, after one has been saved, studied, learned, understood,
and has been the recipient of blessings from God, is to be thankful, and in so
doing then praise the Lord for all that He has done for each one of us
personally and for everyone overall in creation.
The righteous, ‘tsadiyq,’
refers to one who has been justified and vindicated by God, one who is just in
conduct and character, one who is lawful with respect to Gods principles and
doctrines. In other words, the righteous
is the sum total of the person who has advanced in their spiritual life to
maturity and has therefore complied with Gods process for conduct and growth
within the spiritual life.
Though many people praise
God or go through the motions and words indicating praise for God, the only legitimate
praise comes from the source of doctrine in the soul, which brings an
understanding of life of blessings and of the source.
It is not wrong for
anyone to praise or be thankful, but only the one who has actually been through
the pressure cooker of life, who has learned and come to an in depth
understanding of life from all aspects, can have a real and genuine appreciation
of God and all that He has done.
A child can give thanks
to a parent for gifts, but until the child grows up, he cannot really
understand the obligations and responsibilities and functions of what it is to
be a parent. Often times a child has to
live through many of those same circumstances of life before they can really understand.
And so too, in the
spiritual life, only the person who has advanced deep into their spiritual
life, has the frame of reference for life and is able to advance to a higher
level of appreciation.,
