Psalm 33:7

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Psalm 33:7

7 He gathereth [kanac] the waters [mayim] of the sea [yam] together as an heap [ned]: he layeth up [nathan] the depth [tahowm] in storehouses ['owtsar].  KJV-Interlinear

7 He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap;  he puts the deeps in storehouses.   ESV

Not only did God design and create all that exists by the command of His word, but he continually manages creation.  Jesus Christ controls history.

The word for gathers, ‘kanac,’ means gathering or to continually gather on a repetitive course of action.

The seas and especially the troubled seas, are often used in scripture as symbolisms for mans rebellious ways and attempts to control his own history.

And yet the seas, when they storm, always fall back into the confined areas assigned to them.  God assigned the seas to their respective boundaries, and God keeps them there despite their rebellious nature.

The depths in storehouses, refers to the vast reservoir of ocean waters that are stored up in the depths of the seas.

But the word for storehouses, ‘owtsar,’ also refers to treasure, or armory, or storehouse.  And God does not just have a vast amount of water stored on planet earth in the depths of the oceans, He has vast treasures, resources, supplies, raw material stored throughout the planet, placed in strategically located places.

A storehouse is a place that when something is needed or required, then one goes to the storehouse and gets what they need from there.  And so God not only controls history, He manages history, revealing resources and such in the time and place of His choosing.

In the prior verse, God commands. In this verse God manages.

There is nothing that escapes His attention, nothing that was left out or overlooked in His divine design.

God provided for plenty of food sources, plenty of seeds, plenty of fish, plenty of natural resources, plenty of plant life, plenty of bird life and animal life and air and water and on and on.  He likewise provides people in history, born into history at the proper time, in order to perpetuate mans discovery and innovation and such, so that humanity will survive and continue in history.

Often times man remains in one place and gets himself into trouble.  God provided for frontiers to where man can go to escape trouble, to discover new things, to promote their own identity.

The tower of babel was disrupted with multiple languages forcing man to move away to the four corners of the world.  Frontiers were made available so that man could escape abuse and seek out their own freedom.  The new world was discovered at the correct time in history.  People were born into history in order to discover and innovate and invent innumerable things.

The vastness of Gods resources and the power of His foresight and ability to manage, are virtually infinite and error free.

Man has proven over and over again in history, that he cannot manage himself very well.  Were we left to our own devices, then human life would have disappeared long ago.

And yet God has brought into history probably well over a trillion people since Adam, and the resources of this planet are still vast.  And even as humanity looks at dwindling resources with negative remarks, God still has a plan.
\
When Christ returns at the Second Advent, He will begin a thousand year reign, the likes of which history has never seen.  Populations will explode, life spans will be extended well into the hundreds of years, families will be huge and our current population of over seven billion will be but a drop in the ocean if compared to the populations of the Millennium.

And the resources will still be vast and humanity will lack for nothing in a perfect environment world.

The only resource that humanity is really running out of, is knowledge of Bible doctrine, because as a general rule, people do not want to learn it.  And not learning doctrine puts you into a trap of your own making.

Psalm 33:6

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Psalm 33:6

6 By the word [dabar] of the LORD [Yahovah] were the heavens [shamayim] made [`asah]; and all the host [tsaba'] of them by the breath [ruwach] of his mouth [peh].  KJV-Interlinear

6 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.  ESV

In this single verse, all of the philosophies or beliefs of randomness or accident, or evolutionary changes and such, are labeled a lie.  And God uses only two words to accomplish this.  The first is ‘dabar,’ and the second is ‘asah.’

The first word, ‘dabar,’ refers to the spoken word, an utterance, a statement, a verbal sound.  In other words, God spoke.  This is not a speech of lengthy sentences or paragraphs, but a single word or command.  We are not told what that specific word is, but merely that God spoke.

It is not important what the word was, because probably all of the nonsense out there would try to use it and become fools speaking Gods word, as though they somehow possessed His ability.

Anyway, the second word is ‘asah,’ which means to create in accordance with a pattern.

But before we get to the pattern, we need to review the other words for creation, so that we can understand this one.

They are ‘bara,’ ‘asah,’ ‘yatsar,’ ‘banah,’ and finally ‘atsab.’

The first word, ‘bara,’ means to create something out of nothing.  It does not mean to form out of tiny little things, making them into bigger things. It means simply that when there is nothing, and then something comes into existence, then it came into existence, where nothing existed prior.  So, nothing and then something.  This is used in Genesis when God created, ‘bara,’ the heavens and the earth.  So out of nothing, the entire universe came into existence.  The current universe is the one and only universe that has ever existed.  This universe did not come out of the residue of a former universe.  It did not come out of an explosion, for an explosion indicates some existence prior to, or the ingredients of, the explosion.  And it is impossible for nothingness, to explode.  Nothingness can’t do anything because it is, nothing.

The second word, ‘asah,’ refers to a pattern or design.  Again used in Genesis, as well as in our current verse, both angels and man and life and all of creation were formed in accordance with a design.  God had a plan.  He did not shoot from the hip and wait to see what would come of it all, He had a design, and that design existed before the universe, before anything, came into existence.  Actually the plan or design, existed before everything existed.  God is organized and extremely detailed and very efficient and thorough.  Our soul was created in accordance with the pattern of God Himself, in His own image, which does not refer to deity, but to the intellect and emotion and mental abilities and ability to understand and decide and so forth.  We are not animals ruled by instincts, but intelligent beings ruled by our thoughts.

The third word is, ‘yatsar,’ which means to form something out of something, like a pot made out of clay.  And Adam, or his physical body, was formed out of the dust.  That is our biological component.  Human biological life is perpetuated by means of the biological function of the male and female interaction.  I presume that I do not have to explain that.

Note that the soul is not biological and was not formed out of dust, but in accordance with the image of God.  Likewise, human life is not created or formed out of dust, but formed instantly, ‘bara,’ out of nothing.

The fourth word, ‘banah,’ means to build, to construct, to sculpt, and again out of something.  Eve was constructed out of Adam’s rib.  I guess that is why we have the saying, women are built.  This is humor, of course, but really it does fit the concept.  The very nature of the components, the rib, remain the same.  The rib is biological and remains biological, whereas the dust, a non-living thing in Adam’s case, was actually transformed into life and something very different from its former essence.

The fifth word, 'atsab,' typically used in conjunction with the second word, 'asah,' and is used to make it very clear that mans origin was from God, and from no other source or mechanism.  Man is not a product of random chance or evolution, but came from Gods very careful and painstaking care of invention and design.  The word 'atsab' means to fabricate, to carve, to use great care, to take great pains, while fashioning or assembling a thing.  And God did this with respect to His plan and thus with every aspect in the implementation of that plan.

So, back to our verse.

God spoke a single word and all of creation, in its proper order, instantaneously came into existence, in accordance with a plan, a design that existed prior to the creation.

God spoke and the angels came into existence.
God spoke and the universe came into existence.
God spoke, or speaks a word and mans human life, comes into existence.  God spoke and your human life, the real you, were created instantly.  And all of creation, even you, came about because God planned a meticulous plan and brought it all into reality.  And in each case, including you, where you did not exist before, instantly came into existence.

Speaking a single word is not a process, but a command.

Romans 1:26

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Romans 1:26

26 For [dia] this [touto] cause God [theos] gave [paradidomi] them [autos] up [paradidomi] unto [eis] vile [atimia] affections [pathos]: for [gar] even [te] their [autos] women [thelus] did change [metallasso] the natural [phusikos] use [chresis] into [eis] that which is against [para] nature [phusis]:  KJV-Interlinear

26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;  ESV

I know that some are having difficulty in believing that God does turn away, but that disbelief or resistance to believe something is just what we have been studying here.  And in this verse, God does give them up.  Why?

For the reasons that we have been studying in these last several verses.

God provided us with the written scriptures so that we can learn truth and orient correctly to life. But arrogance in people turns into resistance toward the scriptures and in so doing they have only one place to go, which are the lies of the world.

From the very simple things, like not believing something that is written in the Bible, to the more grotesque things of life, like pursuing unnatural lifestyles or patterns of life, everything begins with resistance toward the written word. And when you resist the word, and refuse to learn, then you have nowhere to go but down in life.

And for this cause, which is exactly how this verse opens up, God gives you up, which simply means that he turns away from you, and lets you go your way.

Rejection of Bible doctrine, may seem like a simple thing, but that repeated pattern of life, throughout ones life, can and will turn you into a despicable person.

The example given here, is of women actively engaged in unnatural sexual relationships. But this is only an example. Almost everything that people do when they are outside of the will of God, becomes in a sense, unnatural.

And, sooner or later, the unnatural becomes acceptable behavior.

Whether the bad behavior is in regard to prostitution, or homosexuality, or other social activities that are generally frowned upon, these things are just as bad as criminal behavior, or prejudicial behavior, or any deceitful behavior, or even the simple behavior of refusing to listen to truth.

The whole point of this verse, is that when you refuse to engage in a daily study, meaning that you are not learning the way you are supposed to be learning, then you have only one path to follow, which is the wrong path for life.

And when you continue down the wrong path of life, you surround yourself with all of the dysfunctions of life, which eventually will see your losing all contact with God and truth and reality.

This is a very dangerous thing for the individual.

We all know that unbelievers will go to the Lake of fire, because they have rejected Christ. God does not want them to go to the Lake of fire, but he allows them, because that is their choice.

But these verses are directed toward believers in Christ, not unbelievers, and what believers in Christ risk losing, are their spiritual livelihood and resources and growth, and all of the benefits of the spiritual life. And that too is running a huge risk, because all of the spiritual benefits of the spiritual life extend into eternity, and far beyond this life. And losing something that is infinite is a huge loss.

Romans 1:25

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Romans 1:25

25 Who [hostis] changed [metallasso] the truth [aletheia] of God [theos] into [en] a lie [pseudos], and [kai] worshipped [sebazomai] and [kai] served [latreuo] the creature [ktisis] more than [para] the Creator [ktizo], who [hos] is [esti] blessed [eulogetos] for [eis] ever [aion]. Amen [amen].  KJV-Interlinear

25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.  ESV

Without a daily Bible study, you have no idea as to whether God has given you up, or whether He is still there for you.  For God does turn His back on those who do not comply with His mandates.  And assuming that He is there, when He is not, is a huge mistake.  This was explained in the last verse.

With a daily study, you can know with certainty that He is there for you.

But why does God turn His back on people?

Because they have turned the truth in to a lie, and worship the things of the world rather than the things of the spirit.

So, what does that mean, exactly?

Well, there are only two opinions in existence, Gods word and everything else.

Gods word is truth and everything that falls in line with truth, is truth also.

But when you are out of fellowship, then all of your thinking is a lie.

Certainly lies are lies, but then truth taken out of context, compromised, mixed in with lies, and so forth, becomes the lie too.

Lies convince you that whatever it is that you do, you are doing good, or that it is ok, or so long as no one is getting hurt, or so long as you don’t get caught, then it is ok.

Lies distort decisions, conclusions, reason, logic, and make all manner of philosophies into perfectly normal beliefs.  Lies accept the false, as noble.  Lies make sincerity or good intentions as acceptable practices.  Lies make defining your own spirituality into a good and acceptable thing.

But too, lies push people to the absurd, like worshipping rocks or the moon, or their work or other secular things, placing them ahead of God and Christ and doctrine.

The spiritual life is a narrow path.  It is life in fellowship, by means of doctrine, through Christ.

Everything else is a false path and from it you cannot see or benefit from the spiritual side.

God is always close by, but when you continually pursue life the wrong way, then He will sooner or later simply let you go your own way and leave you to yourself.  This He does because it is you walking away from Him, not Him walking away from you.

He waves goodbye, but you never even see Him waving as you continue on your way into the false.  And probably thinking all the way, that you are doing His will.

How do you know that you are not in Gods will?
You do not participate in a daily study.
You do not confess on a regular basis in order to be in fellowship.
You do not ponder or think about the daily study material or information that you have learned (probably because you have not learned anything).
You do not apply doctrine to your daily life, because, again, you haven’t learned it.
You do not comply with the many mandates concerning your spiritual responsibility, accountability, obligation.
Your spiritual resolve is not genuine or consistent, but more superficial if anything.

And these are just to name the very basic things that you do not do.  Trying to substitute other things or activities because they make you feel better, are further proof that you are out of Gods will and at great risk of being left to your own devices.

And if or when this happens to you, then the fault is all yours.
