Psalm 17:6

Copyright Ó 2012 J. Neely
Psalm 17:6

6 I have called [qara'] upon thee, for thou wilt hear [`anah] me, O God: ['el] incline [natah] thine ear ['ozen] unto me, and hear [shama`] my speech. ['imrah] KJV-Interlinear

6 I have called upon Thee, for Thou wilt answer me, O God; Incline Thine ear to me, hear my speech.  NASB

Based upon the criteria set forth in the previous verses, God will hear your prayers.

Ignore those requirements for the spiritual life and your prayers will not be acknowledged.

Will hear, means the certainty of Gods hearing and acknowledgement of your prayers.  God hears all prayers that are presented in accordance with His rules for prayer.

Incline the ear, means you have Gods undivided attention. He will not ignore you.  He will not disregard you.  He will not turn His back on you.  God will not play games with you.

But remember that your prayers must be in compliance with His plan and design, not yours.

Gods plan has a lot of criteria which includes your learning, your testing, your obedience to His will, and so forth.

You must learn doctrine.  You must live your life in fellowship.  You must study and grow up and apply His instruction to your daily life.  And remember, just because you have believed in Christ, and just because you may have done a little or even a lot of studying, that does not exempt you from the trials and tests of this life.

So, testing is an important part of your spiritual life, and in some cases your testing could possibly push you to the very edge of your faith.  Some folks who lack faith fall apart with virtually little pressure in life, while others can take the pressures to the extreme and still be looking to God for their relief in faith.

That is one of the many reasons why we have so many stories in the Old Testament to help you learn the principles of Gods faithfulness.  Daniel, Moses, Elijah, Joseph, and many, many more folks from history, went through extremely trying tests, even to the edge of their own death.

If you have big troubles in your life, chances are that there have been others who have had greater troubles than you.  Others who have looked to God and failed and others who have looked to God and have passed.

God is not a genie.  His primary objective for you is not to be a drive through prayer answering service, but to drive you through life in preparation for the greatest phase of your life, which is spiritual maturity acquired through testing and beyond.

This is among the many things that you need to put into perspective when you pray.  If you are still alive, then there is a reason.  And God does not do anything arbitrarily.

So, defer to His wisdom and learn from your day to day experiences and studies, even to the point of asking yourself why this or that is occurring, and then search for the answer from Gods point of view, not yours.

God has a plan for human history.  God has a plan for each dispensation.  God has a plan for each individual and society on the whole.  His plan is driving toward an objective, which is to get you to maturity, and to get history to its completion, and then beyond.
