Chains, ‘natiyphah,’
means sweet balls, to drop or fall, drops, or to distil, as in the removal of
juice dropping from plants. This is an
expression for describing something that resembles drops when referring to
accessories or ornaments such as jewelry, pearls, precious stones and such.
These things hang from
the body as ear rings would hang from the ear, or ornaments that would hang
from a necklace which is around the neck.
The hanging portions are generally down around the shoulder or chest
area, and thus the beauty of the ornaments are used to direct the eye to the
body which is directly beneath the ornament.
And that is the objective
of this accessory, as well as all of these accessories that we have been
studying, which is to bring attention to ones self in a seductive and lustful
manner.
The wearer wishes to draw
attention to themselves in approbation, and the viewer wishes to glare or stare
at the wearer while looking at the jewelry, but lusting for what is beneath. Everyone in effect uses this pattern as a
decent way of displaying and watching.
The outward display veils the inner sin.
Bracelets, ‘sherah,’
refer to bracelets for the hands and wrists.
These types of bracelets usually have dangling items such as bells, that
tinkle and twinkle, also in an effort to draw attention.
Mufflers, ‘ra alah,’
means to tremble or to shake. This
applies to an ornament such as a veil, that is placed on the head, but hangs
loose on the back or shoulders and thus flows or presents a flowing or
trembling motion due to the motion of a walk or from wind, or from some form of
movement.
All of these things speak
of self-centeredness, the desire to bring attention to ones outward appearance,
for the purpose of approbation and the sin of self-importance. These entice others into sins of lust or
envy, or even hate or resentment in some cases.
Now, remember that
jewelry items per se are not bad things.
Only the intent and use can be put to evil purposes. The jewelry is not evil, but the person using
it for arrogant or self-centered purposes, is the evil party.
