Revelation 18:7

7 "To the degree that she glorified herself and lived sensuously, to the same degree give her torment and mourning; for she says in her heart, 'I sit as a queen and I am not a widow, and will never see mourning.' NASB
Heaven is infinitely higher than earth, and yet the sins of evil have piled up to as high as heaven. Therefore, the punishment of evil, shall be likewise infinite. The punishment matches the crime.
Three things are herein charged.
Pride in glorifying ones self.
Self-gratification through sensuous living.
And third, evil is guilty of self-sufficiency in over estimating its power and ability to provide, ‘I sit as a queen…not a widow… never mourning.’ This implies total control over ones destiny.
God does not give away His glory to evil, Isa 42:8. God hates the pride of arrogance, Prov. 6:16-17; James 4:6. Those who indulge themselves in worldly things are dead even while they live, 1 Tim 5:6.
These are the same boasts of the ancient Babylon, Isa 47:7,8; cf. Ezek 27:3; 28:2; Zeph 2:15.
Not only do these principles apply to Satan and his policies of evil, but they apply to each person who pursues them. Obtaining a double loss for any perceived gain, ends up in total destitution and worse.
Anyone who pursues the things of this world, at the expense of their spiritual life, will end up with nothing.
The world is the cosmos stage for Satan’s magnificent plans. But his plans are not so magnificent as they have but one guarantee and that is total ruin and loss for those who pursue them.
Any gain you may obtain from the world, from your pursuits of passion, whatever your passions are, are temporary at their very best. One day your life will come to its assigned end and then you will see, far too late, just how much you have lost.
Since eternity is a very long time, it would probably be wise to pursue the wisdoms of God, rather than the enticements of the sin nature, because the spiritual life determines your position in blessing forever, whereas the sin nature guarantees you failure.
When judgment comes, then the very boasts of accomplishment will cease, Isa. 47:9.
