Psalms 7:7

Copyright Ó 2011 J. Neely
Psalms 7:7

7 So shall the congregation [`edah] of the people [laom] compass thee about: [cabab] for their sakes therefore return [shuwb] thou on high. [marowm] KJV-Interlinear

7 And let the assembly of the peoples encompass Thee; And over them return Thou on high. NASB

So shall, indicates a result.  This is not in reference to any specific group of people, but includes all people who look to God for their lives, for their future, for their salvation and beyond.

‘Edah,’ refers to a great congregation or assembly.  And as a result of Gods application of justice against evil in the preservation of righteousness and truth, then a great assembly of people will encircle Him at some later date when human history is completed.

Gods application of justice is for their specific benefit, for the benefit of people (for their sakes) who believe in Christ and accept and claim His promises of eternal life and eternal happiness in heaven with Him.

To return, means to ascend, to reclaim something that has been taken wrongfully.

Satan took that which did not belong to him.  He took the world, he took mans future, he took mans destiny, and led humanity astray.

Therefore, God set into motion a plan that would restore all of those wrongs and correct and restrain and eliminate them permanently.  Giving man back that which was originally his, given to him in the Garden and taken away in that same place.

And now reviewing the first few verses in this chapter.  Evil claims to have been wronged, but in fact it is evil which causes wrong.  Evil deserves punishment, obliteration, for bringing its evil ways intentionally on innocent people.

God is not the author of evil, but the judge against it.  And throughout history, Satan and all of his evil patterns have been the chief persecutors of that which is good.

And in the end, at the end of human history, then all those who have looked to God through his promises and justice will exceed in numbers so vast, and remain alive for one reason only, and that is because God maintains His justice, never compromising, never bending, never giving in to evil.

God will complete His plan, and ascend to the highest of honorable positions, and we as believers will be the direct beneficiary of that effort.
