Revelation 16:11

Revelation 16:11

11 And [kai] blasphemed [blasphemeo] the God [theos] of heaven [ouranos] because of [ek] their [autos] pains [ponos] and [kai] [ek] their [autos] sores, [helkos] and [kai] repented [metanoeo] not [ou] of [ek] their [autos] deeds. [ergon] KJV-Interlinear

11 and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores; and they did not repent of their deeds. NASB

The word for pains, ‘ponos,’ refers to toil as in daily work to provide ones daily sustenance, starving, poor, beggar, to beg, to live in anguish, pain.

And here we have the best description of how life is going to be for those who reject Jesus Christ during those latter years and months and weeks in the Tribulation.

In the previous verse we were told that they gnawed their tongues.  An expression for extreme mental anguish due to extreme physical anguish and discomfort.  And now putting these two verses together, we can see that daily life is beyond miserable.

From the onset of the Tribulation, which would have been six or seven years prior to this, life will have been getting worse by the year.  With the failed anti-christ policies, economies, currencies, employment, industry and so forth will have been getting worse and worse with each succeeding month and year.

As inflation took away buying power, as government eliminated business and industry, as famine resulted from failed policies leading to failed production, as crime and violence grows out of control, then life in the first part of the Tribulation would have been bad already.

Remember that in the first half of the Tribulation, one-fourth of the worlds population will die.  Something that should gain the attention of everyone.  But evil and corruption will continue grow to even greater heights.

Scapegoats will be sought out, and Christians and Jews will be blamed.  Atrocities will grow in their intensity.

And as they approach the intense judgments from God in the latter half of the Tribulation, due to the intense growth of evil, we can see just how life really is.

People are unemployed, starving, begging, covered with sores, living in darkness and hovels, scraping about for what little sustenance they can find, just to survive.

This alone should tell a normal person that life is not good, that what they have from the anti-christ is not working, that they need to change in order to find something better.

But, despite their dire circumstances, people do not repent, do not turn to God, do not believe in Christ (by thinking six little words – such an easy way out of their predicament).  And as a result their hate and anger grows more and more against God, who did not bring any of their bad circumstances upon them.  They did that themselves.

Pharaoh was not this stubborn.

Prior to the Rapture, life would have been just about as it is today in our current time. But in just a few short years subsequent to the Rapture, life will fall to extreme lows.

And yet even today, people will run about in their daily lives, in total disregard to God, Christ and doctrine.  People are oblivious to the greater things in life, looking only to the immediate future, and ignoring their eternal destiny.  And as such, throwing away wealth and riches beyond their imagination.

Revelation 16:10

10 And [kai] the fifth [pemptos] angel [aggelos] poured out [ekcheo] his [autos] vial [phiale] upon [epi] the seat [thronos] of the beast; [therion] and [kai] his [autos] kingdom [basileia] was [ginomai] full of darkness; [skotoo] and [kai] they gnawed [massaomai] their [autos] tongues [glossa] for [ek] pain, [ponos] KJV-Interlinear

10 And the fifth angel poured out his bowl upon the throne of the beast; and his kingdom became darkened; and they gnawed their tongues because of pain, NASB

This is the fifth of the seven plagues.  From the painful sores, the destroyed oceans, removal of all fresh water, and intense heart, then life one would think, would be more than beyond miserable, but an unrepentant world will still refuse to turn to God.

And now the lights are turned out on the entire world.

The world is the kingdom of Satan.  The anti-christ is now the ruler of that world.  Although he will come to power by the overthrow of ten countries which is presumed to be European based, the anti-christ will have effective control or influence over the entire world.

Joel, Zephaniah, and Jesus, all three, spoke of this time, when the sun, moon, and stars would cease to shine and darkness would cover the world, Joel 2:2; 3:14-15, Zeph 1:15, Mark 13:24, Isa 13:10; 24:23; Luke 21:25; Acts 2:20.

With the sunshine lost, the moons light stopped, the light of the stars no longer seen, then the entire world has an excellent example of just how weak and helpless and impotent the anti-christ really is.  Powerless in life, and powerless in the world, the anti-christ who is the hero of an unrepentant world, now has his kingdom sitting in total darkness.

Sores are still open and painful, the stench of the oceans still fills the air, the stench of the dead still fills the air, although most probably people are not able to smell their own stench, there is no water with which to drink or wash, and burns and heat still making life miserable.  And now people have to live and function in total darkness.

This surely would cause a reasonable people to come to their senses and repent and turn to God.  But they do not.

This is the last of the warning plagues.  This is the last mention of people refusing to repent.
The final call to repent has now been completed.  And now the world demonstrates and confirms by its own collective decisions, that all who remain in an unrepentant mood, will remain there, and they will remain in denial toward God, by means of their own choice.

Just as Pharaoh had ten chances to change, and finally did so (temporarily), so too the population of the Tribulation world will have their chances to repent, but they will not.

Their collective decision to reject Christ, will lead to two more judgments, of which will be the last and final battle with everyone fighting everyone, doing all of the fighting and killing of each other at their own hands.  Only Christ will be able to end it all at the Second Advent.

Psalms 6:4

Psalms 6:4

4 Return, [shuwb] O LORD, [Yahovah] deliver [chalats] my soul: [nephesh] oh save [yasha`] me for thy mercies [checed]' sake. KJV-Interlinear

4 Return, O Lord, rescue my soul; Save me because of Thy lovingkindness. NASB

This is the devils world. Troubles and problems galore, exist only because of that fact.  Were it not for the devil and his anti-God policies and attitude, there would be no troubles or problems whatsoever.

Furthermore, were it not for the foundational pattern of evil, which originated from Satan, there would be no sin, no death, no unfairness, nothing negative in life.

But, Satan brought sin through deceit, into the human realm, and man kept that pattern, adopting it and even enhancing it through mans own attitude and negative volition toward truth.

In all things evil, there is no part of God.  Therefore, when trouble strikes in our lives, it has the feel, or the sensation that God has left us (of course He has not), but that is the emotional feeling that eventually surrounds each one of us as the pressures of life flow over us.

Therefore David calls for Gods return.  This is an appeal for relief from the troubles that we are experiencing.

God is always there, but when we face difficulties, it feels as though He is not.  The first thing we want is for the troubles to go away, and a call is made to God, to return (as it were) and remove or relieve us from those problems.

God in ones life means happiness and prosperity, health and well being.  Difficulties in ones life is a picture of God not being in ones life, and therefore a need for Him.  This is symbolic certainly, and an example in life which we can learn from, in order to see how the world operates without God, and how life is when God is active and present within our life.

Looking around, you can see numerous examples of life in examples of prosperity, and in examples of corruption, and everything in between, of course.

And looking around, you have many illustrations in life that should teach you that the more desirable things in life come out of good and out of prosperity and so forth.  And, the less desirable things in life come out of the negatives of life (drugs, crime, poverty, etc).

No one wants to be poor, and yet many are poor.  Everyone wants to be wealthy, and yet few are wealthy.

But that is how the world operates.  And even though we have very little control over the world around us, we do have some semblance of control in our spiritual life and the next life beyond, because we can decide to pursue our spiritual life, or not.

To pursue the spiritual life is to pursue the good things.  To ignore the spiritual life, is to pursue the bad things.

To pursue the spiritual life is bringing God into your life.  To ignore the spiritual life, is to push God out of your life.  The repercussions are, or should be, obvious.

Therefore, return, O God, for the good things are more desirable for the very basis, the very foundation of my life.

And this is done by God, because of His mercies (grace in action).  The world has no grace, no mercy, no concern whatsoever for you.  You just need to decide which path in life, is best, and then pursue it.  God of course is the better path.

Psalms 6:3

Copyright Ó 2010 J. Neely

Psalms 6:3

3 My soul [nephesh] is also sore [ma`od] vexed: [bahal] but thou, O LORD, [Yahovah] how long? KJV-Interlinear

3 And my soul is greatly dismayed; But Thou, O Lord —  how long? NASB

The word for soul, refers to the fundamental life source that each one of us possesses.  It refers to the core life of a breathing creature and is applied to both body and mind as one, all inclusive unit.

Sorely vexed, indicates a level of phenomenal stress that goes beyond the emotions, but indicates stresses that penetrate to the very core of ones existence.  Both body and mind are under pressure, to the extent that it is impossible to describe the depth of the pressure on ones self, such is the great degree of the pressure on and in ones life.

And then David, asks the question that everyone who has ever lived, has probably asked at some time in their life.  A plea to God in a broken sentence, as thought starting the plea, ‘But You, O Lord…’

And such is the greatness of the pressure, that words don’t seem to be adequate, or the proper words just don’t seem to come into ones mind.  And finally David, simply drops off the thought with, ‘How long?’

How long will this pressure continue? How long will this pain continue?  How long will this suffering continue?  How long will my situation continue?

Whatever your situation in life, there will come a time when things will seem like they will never get better.  Your agony, your anxiety, your despair, your trouble, your pressure, your heartache, your helplessness, your whatever your problem or situation is, will seem like it is insurmountable, or perhaps never ending, or without a solution.

You may even complain, or begin to doubt, or begin to give up.

But the mere fact that you turn to God, whether in pleading for help, or even in complaint, frustration, or anger, you are at least on the right track.

Life can be difficult more often than not.  And for most folks the pressures can become seemingly insurmountable at times.

For one person the threshold may be less than for another person, but the degree of pressure that you can tolerate is irrelevant.  God will push you and push you in testing and trials (sometimes you bring the problems onto yourself), until you reach your limit, and then the real test begins.

Will you turn to God, or will you turn away and run from life, or blame others?

Will you examine your own life and try to figure out, objectively, if you need to make changes in yourself?

Will you give up, or will you persevere, knowing that God has your best interests in mind, that somehow, something will come together to bring relief into your life?

Will you recognize that this is the devils world, and that all things bad, are due to the policies of evil that he represents, and not due to God?

Will you recognize that it is God who cares more about you, than even you do about yourself?

Will you continue with your daily studies, even though they seem to be going nowhere, and/or your prayers not being heard?

Revelation 16:9

Copyright Ó 2010 J. Neely

Revelation 16:9

9 And [kai] men [anthropos] were scorched [kaumatizo] with great [megas] heat, [kauma] and [kai] blasphemed [blasphemeo] the name [onoma] of God, [theos] which [ho] hath [echo] power [exousia] over [epi] these [tautais] plagues: [plege] and [kai] they repented [metanoeo] not [ou] to give [didomi] him [autos] glory. [doxa] KJV-Interlinear

9 And men were scorched with fierce heat; and they blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues; and they did not repent, so as to give Him glory. NASB

Through all four plagues, humanity will have ample opportunity to repent, to turn away from evil and to believe in Christ.  Instead, they adopt the cursing of the anti-christ, who is merely doing the bidding of Satan.

But not only will people curse God, they will curse God, with enthusiasm.  All the while they will be suffering more and more.

By this time in the Tribulation, well over half of the worlds population will have died.  The worlds economic system will have already collapsed.  Inflation, famine, starvation, and oppression will be out of control.  The worlds infrastructure of power, roads, communications and so forth will be non-functional or marginal at best.  The aftermath of storms and natural disasters will have rendered huge populations as homeless and worse.  The oceans are dead.  The air will smell of the stench of death and pollution that no one is able to clean up.  No one will be able to find even a single drop of fresh water.

And yet, the stubbornness of evil will reject the one and only person who can fix it all.  Not only will people reject Christ, but they will curse Him, as though it is all His fault, when in fact all problems are the product of evil which they have embraced, and of which has brought the world to its knees.

In less than seven years a once flourishing world, regardless of its problems then, will have collapsed into a dismal morass of disasters and death, with a human population that is flirting with its own extinction.

The plagues are not of natural origin, but of supernatural origin.  They come from God Himself, and from no other source.

In life, in your life, nothing happens by accident. You were born, you will live your life, and then you will die.

Then what?

You have this life to prepare for the next life, eternity.  And for those who do not take this life and Gods plan for them, seriously, then eternity is going to be a very disappointing time (forever) for them.

God is all knowing and fair. God discloses to every person, the truth and the facts of life and what lay ahead.  Great happiness and completeness awaits those who listen and learn.  Great disappointment, and perhaps far worse, await those who are indifferent or try to invent their own ideas of the present and the hereafter.  No religion, no philosophy, no cult, no belief system can or will tell you what to expect, for they are products lies.  And lies can never reveal truth.

Thanksgiving - 2010

Thanksgiving 2010

Thanksgiving Proclamation – George Washington

“Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me to "recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"

Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand, at the city of New York, the 3d day of October, A.D. 1789. “

Thanksgiving Proclamation – Abraham Lincoln

“The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God.

In the midst of a civil war of unequaled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict; while that theatre has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union. Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defence, have not arrested the plough, the shuttle or the ship; the axe has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore.

Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege and the battle-field; and the country, rejoicing in the consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom. No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People.

I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.

And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union.

In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the United States to be affixed.

Done at the City of Washington, this Third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the Unites States the Eighty-eighth.

By the President: Abraham Lincoln”

In more recent times, the official proclamations of thanksgiving have been less humble and more keen on the management of man in his own affairs.  The credits due to the Almighty have faded from the minds and thoughts of leadership and those who are led.

However, regardless of mans plans and views of himself, the divine plan of God rolls right along toward it inevitable conclusion in blessing for those who recognize and accept His divine wisdom, and the ultimate defeat of arrogance, sin, death and evil, for all of eternity.

From my family and extended family, foster children and more, I wish you and yours the very best in this Thanksgiving season and the holidays to come.

For of Him and to Him and through Him, before time, now and forevermore, to whom be glory and majesty and power, even Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen (believe it).

Revelation 16:8

Copyright Ó 2010 J. Neely

Revelation 16:8

8 And [kai] the fourth [tetartos] angel [aggelos] poured out [ekcheo] his [autos] vial [phiale] upon [epi] the sun; [helios] and [kai] power was given [didomi] unto him [autos] to scorch [kaumatizo] men [anthropos] with [en] fire. [pur] KJV-Interlinear

8 And the fourth angel poured out his bowl upon the sun; and it was given to it to scorch men with fire. NASB

Evil sees nothing wrong with its pattern of life.  Despite the fact that evil causes harm to everyone, even ending up in atrocities of the most horrible kind.  And yet evil never sees itself as being in the wrong.  Only that it presumes that it has the right to do whatever, whenever, to whomever, seeing no wrong in that.

Evil always has an excuse for its behavior, but never seems to apply its own principles to itself, only to others.

And thus the previous two verses, wrong is wrong, and the worst kind of wrong is a wrong that never recognizes its misconduct, never accepts its responsibilities, never holds itself accountable.

In all of human history, people have had the opportunity to believe in the savior, and pursue a better life through truth. In all of human history, all that has been necessary to be saved is for each person to believe in Christ or the savior, in accordance with the terminology of the Son of God in any given historical setting.

To believe using just a handful of words such as, ‘Father, I believe in Jesus Christ,’ produces no hardship on anyone, and is the easiest thing, or thought, that anyone could possibly have.  And yet evil rejects this idea with extreme stubbornness.  Evil prefers the lies of the world, lies that have no substance whatsoever in fact, but only in the imagination.

And so we come to the last generation of human history, when all who are going to be born, are born (pre-Millennium), when all who are going to believe in Christ, are going to believe in Christ, and all that remain are the hardest core of Christ haters, that have ever lived in history.

And so the judgments come, one right after another, with no change in attitude, with no recognition that whatever strikes, cannot be stopped, prevented or even mitigated.  And yet people who will be living in that last portion of the Tribulation, will reject Christ, and reject Christ, and hate even more, with unimaginable stubbornness.  They will remain stubborn beyond the absurd.

So, now if you have even wondered what global warming might be like, well here it is.  The sunburns will be excruciating.  Even in the shade, they will be excruciating.  The planet will heat up like never before, and the heat will be the worst heat wave in all of human history.

But the reason will not be carbon footprint stuff, it will be Gods judgment, issued at His command, and not originating over time from the life patterns of society.

In history, the idea that the earth was round and not flat, the idea that the earth was a part of a solar system and not the center of the universe, the idea that the printing press will cause the masses to know too much, the idea that the steam engine, the electric light, the automobile, the airplane, the atom bomb, nuclear power, the Mayan calendar, etc., etc., etc., all of these things and more, that they might cause the universe to implode and the end of everything, have all proven to be absurd. And yet people still come up with more and more ideas that are just as ludicrous.

Even among Christians there are weird ideas that they believe will cause the world to come to an end, or something like that.  And the ideas come always from people who do not study truth.  They let their imaginations do their thinking, not doctrine.  And so their conclusions develop into abnormal thinking.

When abnormal thinking consumes society, then it takes abnormal circumstances to get peoples thinking straight.  And so the judgments that occur in history, serve as useful corrections to help keep society from destroying itself.

But one day, at the end of the Tribulation, these corrections will never work for that purpose.  People will remain defiant to the very end of their lives.  And that is exactly where God is going to take them.

Revelation 16:7

Copyright Ó 2010 J. Neely

Revelation 16:7

7 And [kai] I heard [akouo] another [allos] out of [ek] the altar [thusiasterion] say, [lego] Even so, [nai] Lord [kurios] God [theos] Almighty, [pantokrator] true [alethinos] and [kai] righteous [dikaios] are thy [sou] judgments. [krisis] KJV-Interlinear

7 And I heard the altar saying, "Yes, O Lord God, the Almighty, true and righteous are Thy judgments." NASB

One quick follow up from yesterday’s study.  The last phrase in the verse says, ‘they are worthy.’

This is a phrase referring to the unrighteous, meaning that they ‘deserve’ the punishment they receive.  There is nothing unfair about their punishment.  They fully qualify and deserve to be punished because of their violations against truth, against God, against doctrine, and certainly against people and animals and life, etc.

And in response to the angels which recited the words of the previous verse, a voice comes out of the alter.  This is the alter of sacrifice, referring to the work of Christ on the Cross.

Every sin committed by humanity, was set upon Christ and He received the punishment for all sins of every human being in all of history.  All sin, whether it be one or many, is sufficient of total destruction and permanent separation from God.

No person can take that punishment and survive.  Therefore, if any of us were to have any chance at life, then someone else must take it, someone who is capable of taking that punishment, and surviving, and more than that, defeating death permanently.  And that someone else has to be someone who is equal with God, namely Jesus Christ, who is God.

Because he took the sins of man, and paid for them in full, then anyone who rejects His work, in effect rejects His gift of salvation.  They reject His work of justice.  And anyone who rejects Christ and pursues sin anyway, deserves punishment in a similar fashion.

Sin is deserving of punishment.  All sin is something that is against life, truth, and the rights that everyone shares.  All sin seeks to take, or remove that which belongs to someone else, whether property or reputation, privacy or opportunity.  And anyone seeking to take something that does not belong to them, or seeks to prevent someone else from having that which belongs to them, deserves to be punished for their infraction.

In many cases the punishment meets the crime and generally is small in nature, but all sin leads to worse sin.  And sin compounded upon sin, means that a greater punishment is required in order to meet the demands of justice.

Throughout history, God has given man, truth, time and opportunity to have a full and complete and worthy life.  All through history most have rejected these things.

With each succeeding generation, humanity has rejected truth.  And when history reaches its final generation, God closes the door of opportunity and lets the hammer of justice fall.

The angel testifies as to the crimes of evil and their deserving punishment.  The voice from the alter referring to the work of Christ on the Cross, reinforces the fairness of justice in this matter.

No one can claim unfair.  No one can claim they did not know.  No one has any excuse.

With their eyes wide open, evil has rejected truth and pursued wickedness, and therefore the consequences of that evil means punishment sufficient to bring it to an end.
