1 Timothy

Paul wrote both 1 Timothy and 2 Timothy in the late 50’s or early 60’s A.D. Both letters are addressed to Timothy, a younger man who Paul met when he visited Derbe and Lystra, Acts. 16:1
Tiumothy’s mother was Eunice. His grandmother was Lois and his father was a greek, 2 Tim. 1:3, 3:15.
Timothy was well trained in the scriptures, due to the extensive faith followed by his family.
Paul had met Timothy for the first time in the early 50’s A.D., however, Timothy was already a Christian by that time. Timothy’s conversion to Christianity is not covered as to the how or when of his faith in Christ.
During the next ten years or so, Timothy became a member as one of Pauls traveling companions, and he traveled with him extensively throughout the region.
After these dates mentioned mostly in these two letters and in Acts, very little is known about Timothy. Tradition (not documented) states that Timothy became a leader in the Church at Ephesus, and died many years later and was buried in Ephesus.
The subject of the first letter to Timothy is, ‘maintaining.’
