3 But [de] the Lord [kurios] is [esti] faithful, [pistos] who [hos] shall stablish [sterizo] you, [humas] and [kai] keep [phulasso] you from [apo] evil. [poneros] KJV-Interlinear

3 But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. NASB

In this world you will find many who will mock God and Christianity, even though they do not know the first things about how this world operates.

No one can predict, accurately, the weather for a week or month, but they mock the afterlife.
No one can say for sure what the world economy will do this coming year, but they will mock God.
No one can define why they will not live forever in this world, but they will mock doctrine.
No one has all of the answers to all of the questions, but they will mock everything of truth.
No one has all of the answers and yet they will attempt to prevent others from having access to truth.

And yet despite mans ignorance, obstinacy, indifference, ridicule, hate, and so forth, God is faithful.

Faithfulness means trustworthy, true. God is veracity and immutable. He will never deceive. He will never change away from truth. In God there is no lie, no grey areas, no uncertainty.

Jesus Christ is the living person, of the written word. Through doctrine, you receive Christ, the written word, into your soul, and therefore you bring truth and His faithfulness into your life.

There is nowhere else in life that you can find faithfulness of any kind. The world, people, even your own self, are incapable of developing faithfulness from within yourself. That is a divine attribute that comes only from God.

To ‘stablish’ means to strengthen and protect, to turn resolutely in a certain and definite direction, to confirm.

To ‘keep you,’ means to preserve, to isolate, to set apart, to guard.

In God you steer a true course to a certain and definite destination, unlike the mockers of the world who are caught up in an indefinite and random course that will never arrive anywhere, but drift into obscurity.

God (doctrine in the soul), isolates you from the deterioration of corruption, guards you from the influences of evil, protects you from the wicked agenda of wicked people who only want to prevent you from learning truth, and want to turn you to their own worthless and directionless world.

Evil, ‘poneros,’ means hurtful or influence. Unlike other derivatives of the word which refer to the character of evil, or the degeneracy of evil, then this word refers to the protection that doctrine in the soul provides the believer, from the culpability or influences that evil represents.

Like the air that you breathe, so too evil, in its many, many forms, saturates the world.

Were it not for the restraining work of Bible doctrine, your life would deteriorate rapidly into the same putridness that results in any fresh uncooked meat that is left out on the table.

And yet those of the world will mock, sneer, laugh at truth, and try to bring hardship and suffering into your life, when they themselves are clueless about life.
