Isaiah 14:14

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Isaiah 14:14ues

14 I will ascend [`alah] above the heights [bamah] of the clouds [`ab]; I will be like [damah] the most High ['elyown]. KJV-Interlinear

14 'I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.'  NASB

The word for clouds, ‘ab,’ refers to an envelope, a darkness, a density, a clay denseness. And here, Lucifer is referring to the sum total of creation, which is the universe, which is outside of, and not a part of heaven.

Therefore, Lucifer’s desire and lust is to rise above and beyond and outside of the created universe, and reside in and control and rule, heaven.

The phrase, most high, is a reference to God the Father. Which again is an open rejection of the second person of the Trinity, who we know as Jesus Christ, and Lucifer’s attempt to thwart Christ’s inheritance, and thus superimpose Lucifer’s will over God’s will.

Lucifer was the brightest and best of all the angels. He was the smartest and most talented and most able of all of the angelic realm. And as such, you would think he would be able to connect the dots and see the futility of his own plans.

And given the phenomenal timeframe of many thousands of years, you would think Lucifer, who is now known as Satan or the devil, would have figured it all out, that his efforts were never going to succeed.

And yet the power of arrogance, supported by stubbornness, as a result of the lack of truth, will sustain and perpetuate a false view for a very long time.

Satan’s false views have been around for thousands and thousands of years, and he still won’t let them go despite failure after failure in his own efforts.

People here on earth only live for a few decades, so it should be easy to understand how people can hold on to or cling to their false ideas throughout their lives, when people are not as smart as Satan, and Satan has held onto his false ideas for a much longer time.

It isn’t that people are incapable of changing, because everyone has volition, and everyone has the opportunity of seeing the error of their ways and changing. But without truth in your soul, then it is extremely difficult to overcome the power of arrogance which is bolstered by stubbornness.

On your own, no person can rise above and defeat arrogance, unless they have the tools with which to fight it.

And there is only one tool that has a greater power than arrogance or any other power in this world, and that tool is Bible doctrine, which is the written word of God, which is the documentation of Christ, which when learned and understood and assimilated into your soul, becomes the tool of enlightenment and discernment and understanding, and your only way out of the chains of this world.

Isaiah 14:13

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Isaiah 14:13ues

13 For thou hast said ['amar] in thine heart [lebab], I will ascend [`alah] into heaven [shamayim], I will exalt [ruwm] my throne [kicce'] above [ma`al] the stars [kowkab] of God ['el]: I will sit [yashab] also upon the mount [har] of the congregation [mow`ed], in the sides [yarekah] of the north [tsaphown]: KJV-Interlinear

13 "But you said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, And I will sit on the mount of assembly In the recesses of the north.  NASB

We saw in yesterday’s study that the name, Lucifer, meant bright or brightness, or morning or day star. And, that greatness or brightness fell from grace.

And here is why. Arrogance.

In his heart, which now identifies a thinking person, there was arrogance. And the arrogance was a lust to ascend into heaven, which means to overthrow the throne of God, and assume God’s title and dominion over the stars and the universe and all of the living creatures that lived there.

All of this occurred at some point in eternity past, prior to the history of man, prior to our prehistoric history.

The phrase, sides of the North, refers to a part, a quarter, a flank by direction.

This phrase also occurs in Psalm 48:2, as a reference to a position on mount Zion, the dwelling place of God and ruler over Jerusalem, the city of peace. That peace, describes the sum total of Gods essence and his dominion and power and authority over all that is.

In Ezekiel 43:1-4, we know that when the temple is built, the main entrance is on the East side. God’s glory faces that entrance. Therefore God is looking West while facing the main entrance of the temple.

The Lord, Jesus Christ, will sit at the right hand of God, and when looking West the right hand is to the north.

Way back before the fall of Lucifer, by this we can know that the second person of the Trinity, Jesus Christ, was portrayed as the heir over all that is. And he would sit at the right hand of the Father.

Lucifer therefore, desired to have that position of power and authority for himself, and that resulted in his arrogance and in his rebellion against God, as well as his rejection of Jesus Christ.

The stars, not only refers to all of the universe, but also refers to earthly kings, or in this case since humanity had not yet been created, to all of the angelic leaders in their various ranks and positions of authority.

The mount of the congregation, is the place and dwelling and position of the throne of God the Father, in his place of authority and rule, as he faces all of creation.

Lucifer wanted it all, and thus his fall from grace in eternity past which led to a trial and some sort of offering of repentance, which two thirds of the Angel population accepted, but Lucifer and the remaining one third of the Angel population, rejected.  Thus their condemnation and conviction and sentencing to the Lake of Fire, which is an eternal separation from God.

This led to Lucifer’s name change, from brightness or star, to that of Satan or devil, which means slanderer or accuser, both of which become descriptive terms of Lucifer’s persistent challenge of, and rejection of, God, throughout history.

Satan did way back then, the same exact thing that people do today. They try to take things that they lust for, rejecting all manner of truth. They try to control things over which they have no control, such as their very existence, or their daily lives, or even their destinies.  They reject truth and therefore they reject God.

Satan knew the plan of God, way back before there was man, and he rejected it.

Today people know the plan of God, and yet they openly reject it, and pursue that which they cannot have and never will have. And, this applies not only to unbelievers who openly present or reject Christ, but also it applies to to believers who, for whatever reason, are simply not interested in learning the word of God as they are intended to learn it.

The written word, is the same as the living person of Christ. Therefore, no matter how overtly pious a person tries to be or pretends to be, when they reject their daily study of Bible doctrine, then there is an underlying arrogance of their assumption that they don’t need to learn Gods word, and therefore that is a rejection of Christ.

For unbelievers, the price of rejection is the eternal Lake of Fire.

For believers, the price of rejection is a dysfunctional spiritual life, lack of spiritual growth, failure in ones spiritual life, and loss of one’s eternal reward.

Psalm 27:2

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Psalm 27:2

2 When the wicked [ra`a`], even mine enemies [tsar] and my foes ['oyeb], came [qarab] upon me to eat up ['akal] my flesh [basar], they stumbled [kashal] and fell [naphal]. KJV-Interlinear

2 When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell. NASB

Throughout his life, David faced all sorts of enemies.

During his younger years, when he was a shepherd and was attending the flocks for his parents, all sorts of dangers existed from the presence of wild animals that would, from time to time, try to take one of the animals in the flock.

During his years when Saul was King, Saul became his adversary, and so David was faced with dangers because of Sauls jealousy towards him.

When David became king, then he faced many battles with foreign enemies as well as domestic enemies, even enemies from within his own family. And even within the functions of government, having political enemies is something that always exists.

Life provides two environments in which you live your life. The first environment is the temporal environment wherein we all live within the structure of this world. The second environment is the spiritual environment, within which only believers in fellowship, live.

When you live only within the temporal world, two sets of rules apply. The first set deals with the jungle rules, where there are arbitrary standards that govern life, and sooner or later everyone loses. The second set of rules includes the laws of divine establishment, that God has provided in order to offset and stabilize the otherwise unstable jungle rules.

In the jungle, you survive if you are bigger or tougher or smarter or quicker. But no matter how big or tough or smart or quick you are, everyone grows old, and with age, all of those characteristics fade away. Therefore, sooner or later you lose.

With the laws of divine establishment, there is restraint placed against the laws of the jungle. And that is the only thing that prevents man from destroying himself, and allows man’s existence to continue in history.

In the spiritual realm, there are additional rules that exist to guide and protect and direct one’s life.

God has a plan for your life. And when God’s plan is operational, which simply means that you are functioning within your spiritual life as you should, then there are additional protections, a wall fire as it were, that are there to protect your life.

This is the Devils world. And within this world there are all kinds of enemies who are out to get you, to malign you, to get even with you, to gossip against you, to defeat you, to do whatever they can in order to get what they want by preventing you from getting what you want or need.

Your enemies can be military enemies, or terrorist or criminal type enemies, or political enemies, including petty politics within the workplace, or social enemies including family enemies.

Your enemies can come from all walks of life, most of whom you probably will never know about.

If you live your life only within the temporal structure of this world, then you have no protection except for whatever worldly resources you have around you.  And those resources, insurance, work, youth, health, etc., always fade away.

If you live your life within the spiritual structure of God’s design, the you have unseen protections that work in your behalf, most of which you will never know about.

God has a plan for your life. When, by your choice, you function within God’s plan, then that plan cannot be derailed, cannot be stopped, and cannot be prevented from advancing to its designed completion.

Psalm 27:1

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Psalm 27:1

1 A Psalm of David [David].
The LORD [Yahovah] is my light ['owr] and my salvation [yesha`]; whom shall I fear [yare']? the LORD [Yahovah] is the strength [ma`owz] of my life [chay]; of whom shall I be afraid [pachad]? KJV-Interlinear

1 A Psalm of David.
The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?  NASB

The word for light means illumination, bright, clear, happiness, son, morning as in a new beginning.

The word for salvation means liberty, deliverance, prosperity, safety.

The word for strength means fortified place, a defense, force, fort, rock, strong.

The Lord is the personal name reference of God, who is the second person of the Trinity possessing the title, son of God, who is the promised Savior and Messiah, who would come into the world as a man, and did, and is Jesus Christ.

The Lord refers to the deity and character and nature of God, as well as the body of truth for which he stands, which is the written word by which we are able to come to know God, and through which we are able to learn and grow and mature and achieve a completion of our own very essence.

Thus David, when looking to God, is looking at the whole package and not just some unidentified or unseen being.

Our connection and link and access to God is through his written word. And the only way we can obtain that access is by learning the content of what the Bible teaches. Our spiritual life begins with salvation, because we have heard the gospel and the promise of God that we will be saved when we believe in Christ.

But that is only the beginning of the spiritual life. Being saved is a start into a new life, an eternal life.

The illumination and freedom and fortification of one’s life comes by means of growth in the spiritual life.

Without God and Christ and doctrine, then all you have is the world. The world does not provide resources for illumination or the clear understanding of all of the aspects of life around us. The world does not provide for a destiny or a faith or the mental muscle that provides the foundation for courage and confidence.

The Lord is more than just the name of a person. The Lord represents the whole realm of the spiritual environment in which you should be living your life. People can call out the name ‘Oh Jesus’ over and over again and get absolutely nowhere in life. When what they need to be doing is learning ‘Jesus’ in the written form, which is Bible doctrine, so they can advance in their spiritual life, and become something beyond their wildest dreams.

Galatians 4:16

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Galatians 4:16

16 Am I [ginomai] therefore [hoste] become [ginomai] your [humon] enemy [echthros], because I tell [aletheuo] you [humin] the truth [aletheuo]?  KJV-Interlinear

16 Have I therefore become your enemy by telling you the truth? NASB

The Galatians at one time, had declared undying devotion and dedication to the truth which Paul had been teaching on his prior visit, even to the point of their willingness to give up their own eyes, quite literally, because of the phenomenal impact that the message of truth had, had on their lives.

However, with the passage of time since Paul’s visit and with the introduction of false teachers, bringing their message of works, the Galatians early dedication to the truth was transformed into a hatred of the truth, and a dedication to the false teachings that have been brought to them.

Without regular and consistent teaching, and attention paid to that teaching, then it is quite easy for false ideas to push their way into one’s mind and squeeze out the truth.

And this is what happened to the Galatians.

When truth does not have a rich soil to plant itself into, namely the positive attitude and objectivity of a person who strongly desires the truth, then it is just like seed that falls into rocky soil or into the weeds. It gets squeezed out. It has no place to set a foundation, and no place to grow. And that all ties directly to the individual’s attitude, and to the degree of their dedication, or lack of it, to learning truth.

A daily study of the word of God, while in fellowship, is the only way to properly cultivate and grow the knowledge and understanding and wisdom and ultimate production of ones spiritual life.

Without the dedication of a consistent daily study, it is easy for anyone to fall into the pattern of idle interest in truth and fall away into the false ideas of life.

When a person pursues and embraces false concepts, then they are easily misled, and they are easily deceived by the religious and philosophical and even political traps of this world.

The many concepts of truth become ridiculed and even hated, and the many false concepts of the world become convenient and are easily compromised as they become popular within society.

Truth promotes integrity, honesty, patriotism, courage and so forth.

That which is false, rejects all of these attributes, and pursues a, me first, I can do things the way they want, attitude.
