Psalm 31:15

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Psalm 31:15

15 My times [`eth] are in thy hand [yad]: deliver [natsal] me from the hand [yad] of mine enemies ['oyeb], and from them that persecute [radaph] me.  KJV-Interlinear

15 My times are in Thy hand; Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me.  NASB

Times, ‘eth,’ refers to the evenings and mornings, or days, seasons, tides, continually, and in our verse means the entirety of ones life, all events, all activities, all circumstances, everything from ones birth to ones death.  Our times, are in Gods hands, meaning under His complete control.

There is never anything that is left out of Gods hands, even when He allows us to make fools of ourselves with foolish decisions.

But too realize, that God gives us all the resources we need, to make our own life better.  We just have to make the right decisions.

In life we have many sources of enemies.  The foremost is the content of our own thoughts, followed by people, followed by bureaucracies, followed by the huge variety of natural disasters or accidents, even genetic peculiarities that can enter into our lives.

God can allow you to follow your own plan of life and watch you fail and fail again, even to the point of whatever suffering you may encounter in life.  Or, you can pursue your life as God intends for you, and then you can let God bring all kinds of really good things into your life, again as He intends for you to live and to grow up.

In either case, we will live as God has appointed for us, we will pass through life as He directs.  We were born into this world according to His will.  We will leave this world according to His will.  He will present all kinds of opportunities to us, so that we can advance in our spiritual life, and leave it up to us to recognize them or not.

If you pursue your life as God intends, then all manner of enemies will never cause you to utterly fail.

If you pursue your life in opposition to Gods will, then He will kindly permit you to suffer at the hands of any and all the world, which is in accordance with your choice.

You just have to wake up and realize that your life is completely in Gods hands, that everything is provided for, that nothing can ruin your life except you, and once you figure this out, then perhaps you will not be so anxious or worrisome over the little things or even the big things in life.

The better you choices you make with regard to pursuing your spiritual life, to your obligations in life according to your station in life, then the better your confidence in God, will be, and the better poise and stability you will have in life.

Romans Introduction

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Romans Introduction

Romans, written by Paul.  It was probably written in the mid to late 50’s A.D., perhaps around 58 or 59 A.D.

This epistle was addressed to the Romans.  Typically thought to have been the fifth book written by Paul, after 1, 2 Thess, Galatians, and 1 Cor.  And yet it is placed first in the bible because it is the most thorough and complete writing which addresses the central principles of Christianity.

Written from Corinth, during Pauls third visit there, the subject of this book is Salvation.

Romans states the divine provision of Gods grace, wherein God can declare sinners as righteous as a result of the work of Christ.  It sets out the nature of the new life that believers may enjoy through the power of the Holy Spirit.  And it also lays out the obligations that believers have as recipients of the grace blessings from God.

Galatians 6:18

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Galatians 6:18

18 Brethren [adelphos], the grace [charis] of our [hemon] Lord [kurios] Jesus [Iesous] Christ [Christos] be with [meta] your [humon] spirit [pneuma]. Amen [amen].  KJV-Interlinear

18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren. Amen.  NASB

This daily study have been around a very long time, and online for about fifteen years now.  The recent explosion of interest through facebook alone is phenomenal.  It is all designed to help you have a convenient method for advancing your life to the greatest heights possible and more.  And with the internet, having a daily study and an opportunity to advance yourself, is probably the easiest it has ever been in all of human history.

But, you are the one who has to dedicate yourself to your own advancement and growth.  You have no excuse if you fail.  All the tools are right here.  And you have to read the studies in full.  You just have to want them, more than you want your excuses.  Selecting an internet link to complete the daily study is no effort at all.  Why would anyone refuse to do that.  Blessings are waiting.  Are you going to let them pass by?

And finally the greatest hope of all, in all of existence.  A hope that is not of wishes or luck, which is all that people have, who do not pursue their daily bible instruction, but a hope that consists of confidence supported by the substance of doctrine in the soul, derived by the dedication to a daily bible study, which this daily study provides (if you read it daily).

The grace of God, who is Jesus Christ, is Gods work in action in your behalf.

Grace is Gods favor, and there is no one else's favor that is better than Gods, who is able to do and accomplish anything and everything beyond imagination.  Who can do this better for you?

But God does not favor unbelievers who reject truth.

God does not favor disobedient believers who are indifferent toward, or play games with, truth.

God does not favor believers who pretend or otherwise ignore His requirements of the spiritual life.

Gods favor is applied to your spirit, which herein refers to the very essence, the very core, the very substance of your existence and your life.

The subject of Galatians is works verses faith.

Works is everything that you do that is in opposition to that which God wants.  And God wants you to study the scriptures daily.  Not just read, but learn through instruction.  No one can be self-made.  No one can simply open up the bible and read and understand it all.  The spiritual life and growth was not designed for that.

So, refusing to study daily, refusing to submit yourself under the authority of an instructor, refusing to follow the mandates that God has placed on each one of us, is in effect saying that you have a better way, and that is works.  God rejects works, because works is arrogance, the arrogance of one trying to out-do God.

Works prevents you from the phenomenal blessings that God has waiting for you.  If your life is difficult, then perhaps it is you who are preventing something better.

A wrong thing (works) done in a wrong way (human effort) is wrong.
A wrong thing (works) done in a right way (human sincerity) is wrong.
A right thing (human sincerity) done in a wrong way (works) is wrong.

A right thing (obedience to Gods mandates) must be done in a right way (the spiritual process) in order to be right (faith).

The word of God is alive and powerful, sharper than any two edged sword.  Piercing even to the dividing asunder of the soul and the spirit and the joints and the marrow, and is a critic of thoughts intent of the heart.  All scripture is God breathed, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof , for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God might be mature, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Study to show thyself mature, a workman that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Delight thyself unto the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.  Commit your way unto the Lord, trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass.  For He will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusts in Thee. Trust in the Lord, for in the Lord is everlasting strength.  Cast your burdens upon the Lord and He will sustain you, He will never suffer the righteous to be moved.  Stop worrying about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God which passes all understanding will garrison your hearts and minds, through Christ Jesus.

And now to Him who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you without blemish before the presence of His glory, with exceeding joy. To the only wise God, even Jesus Christ or Lord, to whom be glory, and majesty, dominion and power, forever.  Amen.  Believe it!

Isaiah 20:1

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Isaiah 20:1ues

1 In the year [shaneh] that Tartan [Tartan] came [bow'] unto Ashdod ['Ashdowd], (when Sargon [Cargown] the king [melek] of Assyria ['Ashshuwr] sent [shalach] him,) and fought [lacham] against Ashdod ['Ashdowd], and took [lakad] it;  KJV-Interlinear

1 In the year that the commander came to Ashdod, when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him and he fought against Ashdod and captured it,  NASB

The futility of man placing his hopes and confidence, in the plans of man, is portrayed in this short chapter.

Isaiah will warn of the futility of joining the alliance between Ashdod and Egypt, against Assyria.

In the year, is a reference to the time about 711 B.C.

One of the generals of Sennacherib, named Tartan, 2 Kg. 18:17, also known by several names, one of which was Sargon, was sent to take the city of Ashdod.

Ashdod was a Philistine city along the coast of the Mediterranean, within the territory of Judah, but never captured by Judah.

Ashdod had a treaty with Egypt and Ethiopia, for protection against Assyria.  Ethiopia was also known as Cush.

When Assyria attacked Ashdod, Egypt reneged and did not come to the aid of Ashdod.

At the time, the issue was between Assyria, the Philistines, and Egypt.

Isaiah is herein going to warn Judah against getting into the treaty between Ashdod and Egypt, against Assyria, for it would go badly against them.

Ashdod is one of the oldest of the ancient cities, Josh. 15:47, and is one of the strongest and most fortified cities in that region.  Ashdod means strength.  However, it fell rather quickly to the Assyrians.

So now the alarm is up and Isaiah is being called by God, to give the warning.
