Psalm 25:10
10 All the paths ['orach] of the LORD [Yahovah] are
mercy [checed] and truth ['emeth] unto such as keep [natsar]
his covenant [bariyth] and his testimonies. [`edah]
KJV-Interlinear
10 All
the paths of the Lord are lovingkindness and truth To those who keep His
covenant and His testimonies. NASB
In the last verse, we saw
that God teaches anyone and everyone who is willing to learn and who wants to
learn.
And for those who want to
learn and then actually pursue their learning in accordance with Gods methods
for learning, then the path of their life will be mercy, Gods mercy, and truth,
Gods truth.
Mercy, ‘checed,’ means
grace in action. This is the actual activity of Gods doing something for the
believer. Gods policy is grace. Grace is Gods favor. And if you ever want any favors done for you
by anyone, then God is the person of choice.
After all He is omniscient, omnipotent and eternal and that alone means
that He has infinite resources and can do anything and more.
So, a favor from God is
better than a sure winner, better than money in the bank so to speak.
Truth, ‘emeth,’ means
that God is consistent and unchangeable, reliable and just, dependable and
secure. In all that God is and does, the believer can be certain that God will
be honest and fair, actually more than fair, and His mercies will be far more
than expected.
But, are these gifts
automatic? No.
They go to those who are
willing to obey Gods covenant and testimonies.
Covenant, ‘bariyth,’ means
command or law. God keeps up His end of the bargain, and you need to keep up
your end of the bargain. Gods commands
and laws are the principles taught within the content of the Bible.
Testimonies, ‘edah,’
means Gods views, teachings, the content of His words. In other words, the
content of the scriptures. The Bible is
the sum total of that which God bears witness to as true and right.
So, how can you keep Gods
words? You have to learn them first, and
even that is one of the requirements of Gods mandates.
But before you learn, you
have to want to learn. And learning in the
spiritual life is not a short term class, but a dedicated life long study of the
scriptures for your entire life. There
is no time off for vacations away from truth.
It is a commitment that you must make to God, in order to have the
greatest impact of His blessings, on your life.
Maintaining a belligerent
or defiant or indifferent attitude gains you nothing.
Have you ever heard
people say, ‘Why me?’ And have they ever
looked, objectively, at their own life and figured out that it was they who
failed, not God.
In all of Gods paths, and
this does mean all, there is nothing but truth, and blessing. There is no evil, no sin, no disgrace, no
cheating, no shenanigans, nothing that could be construed as betrayal or a letdown
or an indifference toward you.
God has your best
interests in mind.
Unfortunately most folks
try to take shortcuts in life and they are their own worst enemy.
