Isaiah 13:5
5 They come [bow'] from a far [merchaq] country, ['erets] from the
end [qatseh] of heaven, [shamayim] even the LORD, [Yahovah]
and the weapons [kaliy] of his indignation, [za`am] to destroy [chabal] the
whole land. ['erets] KJV-Interlinear
5 They are coming from a far
country From the farthest horizons, The Lord and His instruments of
indignation, To destroy the whole land. NASB
They, is a reference to
the Lord and His host of armies, who are coming to destroy Babylon.
They come from a far
country. And in our passage, which is in
reference to the Second Advent as we know it, that far country is not on this
planet, but heaven itself.
And the text is
expanded, even from the end of heaven, even the Lord.
This is no earthly
army, no earthly general or king, no earthly country or collection of
countries.
The weapons of His
indignation, is a reference to Bible doctrine, truth, righteousness, justice,
Gods divine plan.
And the reason for His
coming, is to destroy a land that is thoroughly corrupt, and has been getting
progressively more and more corrupt over the time of all of human history.
The whole land, means a
total and complete destruction of all that was and is evil. There will not be a single evil person remaining
alive, as well as not a single earthly building or shrine or anything in which that
man has placed his trust or pride, left standing.
