Ephesians 6:3

Copyright Ó 2012 J. Neely
Ephesians 6:3

3 That [hina] it may be [ginomai] well [eu] with thee, [soi] and [kai] thou mayest [esomai] live long [makrochronios] on [epi] the earth. [ge] KJV-Interlinear

3 that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth.  NASB

It, is a reference to your personal life.

Long can indicate duration, but here is applied to the fullness and completeness of ones life.

Therefore, if the child is raised in a loving and nurturing home, and maintains a loving attitude and an attitude of respect toward the parents, recognizing authority, responsibility and learns a sense of obligation, then they will grow up better able to function in life, set reasonable goals for themselves, and pursue them.

Success then, is assured in some form since the child, when they grow up, will be able to adapt to the many difficulties that life will throw at them.

So, with a good foundation of character constructed and woven into ones life, then prosperity and productivity generally follow.

When the child is raised with legitimate standards, and then follows the Christian ethic, and even more so, pursues their own individual spiritual life, then fulfillment, prosperity and longevity are certain.

Success in ones life is never determined or decided by the length of ones life or the things in ones life, but by the spiritual content of ones self.  The duration in years, of ones life, is irrelevant.

Spiritual content, always begins with understanding and respect, followed by the self-motivation, and self-drive in ones life.  These characteristics are good foundations for ones own success, and when Bible doctrine is added to the mix of ones life, then regardless of ones worldly circumstances, spiritual success becomes certain.

And that, spiritual success, should be the ultimate objective and goal of life.
