Ephesians 6:10
10 Finally, [loipon] my [mou] brethren, [adelphos] be
strong [endunamoo] in [en] the Lord, [kurios] and [kai] in [en] the power [kratos] of his [autos] might. [ischus] KJV-Interlinear
10 Finally, be strong in the
Lord, and in the strength of His might. NASB
The duties of the spiritual life for each
individual has been described. For
husbands and wives, the foundation and pattern for all of humanity. For parents and children, the foundation for
society. For employers and employees,
the foundation for economic strength.
For all of humanity, each persons relationship with
God through Christ, the foundation for all of creation into eternity.
For there is no strength that is not given by
God. There is no faith that is not constructed
by doctrine. There is no salvation that
is not accomplished by Christ. There is
no plan that is not given by the Father. There is no spiritual growth that is
not given by the Holy Spirit.
To be strong in be Lord is not limited to mere
words, but refers to true strength based on actual substance. If you have no muscle, then you have no strength.
If you have no doctrine in the soul then you have no true strength, but only
mere wishes that lack power to support them.
Strength is a real thing. Doctrine is the source and building material
of spiritual strength and ability and faith.
Power is the word for dominion, vigor, might.
Might is the word for forcefulness, ability.
And in God there is phenomenal and unlimited power
and might that is beyond measure.
For each one of us to possess that same power and
might, then doctrine is the foundation of that attribute.
Not that we would be able to move mountains by
means of our own physical strength, but through doctrine and spiritual growth,
then the utilization of Gods power is made available by means of His work not
ours, by means of His plan not ours, by means of His intentions not ours.
Wishes are not power. Verbal quotes of scripture are not ability. Rhetoric is not substance.
In order to possess real strength and power and
might, you must have Bible doctrine as an integral part of your soul.
And there is but one way to assimilate doctrine into
your soul and that is by means of a daily study of the scriptures, through
instruction. Apart from that approach to
your spiritual life, you will only fool yourself into having nothing.
