Isaiah 3:5

Copyright Ó 2011 J. Neely
Isaiah 3:5

5 And the people [`am] shall be oppressed, [nagas] every one ['iysh] by another, ['iysh] and every one ['iysh] by his neighbour: [rea`] the child [na`ar] shall behave himself proudly [rahab] against the ancient, [zaqen] and the base [qalah] against the honourable. [kabad] KJV-Interlinear

5 And the people will be oppressed, Each one by another, and each one by his neighbor; The youth will storm against the elder, And the inferior against the honorable. NASB

When the irresponsible, when the inexperienced, when the unqualified take the reigns of power and rule, then anarchy and confusion and certainly suffering, become the order of the day.

This has been true throughout history.  As tyrants as well as irresponsible leadership have come and gone, the people of their realm’s suffered immensely.  The disasters of evil rule will certainly become evident when the last generation of human rule comes onto the scene in the Tribulation.

But for each successive generation that lives throughout history, even in our present day as liberal and social politics have overtaken the seat of governments in Europe, and around the world, and are certainly trying here in the US, the evidence of national disasters is apparent everywhere.  People see the difficulties, but do not see the causes.

People are oppressed as social and economic and legal inequities ruin the daily lives of most.

‘Everyone by another … everyone by his neighbor,’ means man by man, or neighbor by neighbor. And this is an expression of the common or mutual strife felt by all.

‘The child and the ancient,’ refers to all ranks in society.   Respect will vanish, manners will evaporate, selfishness and self-centeredness will take over.

‘The base against the honorable,’ further indicate that the general social respect from the most repulsive to the highest orders of society, will all lose respect, and social norms and standards will breakdown.

When doctrine, which is truth, is ignored, then humanity is incapable of making good decisions.  Thus they make bad decisions, giving in to tyrants, or even placing incompetents into power, by their own voting choice.  Common sense vanishes, and the decisions of the child, the immature, reign.

But note one important thing. God does not impose disaster on humanity, per se, but allows negative and dysfunctional man to place himself into harm’s way, by means of his own choices.

Unfortunately too many folks pursue this course, even as they pursue their own course toward God, by means of their own path rather than Gods path to truth.
