Psalms 6:7
7 Mine eye [`ayin] is consumed [`ashesh] because of grief; [ka`ac] it waxeth old [`athaq] because of all mine enemies. [tsarar] KJV-Interlinear
7 My eye has wasted away with grief; It has become old because of all my adversaries. NASB
The eye means the eye in a literal sense, but figuratively, ‘ayin,’ means affliction, perception, environment, outward appearance, landscape, and comes to means the world around me.
Consume means to shrink or to fail, to waste away.
Grief means sorrow, provocation, anger, indignation.
Wax old means to grow old, to grow weary, tired, to leave off, to remove, to waste away.
Enemies, means oppressors, adversaries, narrow, shut up, concealed, bind.
The world is overwhelming for the individual person. No one can stand up to the world, let alone their immediate surroundings in life.
This world is an adversary and never a friend, and as such, when push comes to shove, you lose.
The pressures in life can become insurmountable or impossible, and that can cause the person to lose self control (the tears of the last verse), and to lose hope.
Life will consume you to the point that you will, with certainty, waste away, and shrink into the insignificance of desperation.
Life causes you to grow old prematurely, and with age and stress comes graying or white hair, and loss of energy.
The world is your enemy. The world is anti-God, and promotes no solution to life’s problems. The world has but one solution and that is the destruction of your life, whether now on in the next life.
The world is often called cosmos diabolicus, or an extension of Satan's evil policies, or Satan’s world. It stands for all of the policies and viewpoints, philosophies and religions that come from anti-truth views.
Embrace the world and you embrace a path to self destruction, or a wearing out of your, self-essence.
God, through doctrine, on the other hand, provides you a path to the completion of your life, not its destruction.
