Psalm 18:41

Copyright Ó 2012 J. Neely
Psalm 18:41

41 They cried, [shava`] but there was none to save [yasha`] them: even unto the LORD, [Yahovah] but he answered [`anah] them not. KJV-Interlinear

41 They cried for help, but there was none to save, Even to the Lord, but He did not answer them. NASB

When people get into trouble they call for help.

Some dial 911 to get the police or ambulance or fire help.  When disaster strikes, there are numerous agencies that come to the rescue for local disasters or national disasters.

When entire countries are overrun by enemy armies, then there are national alignments that come to the rescue, or at least that is the history of humanity when there has been human oppression.

On a personal level, we look to insurance, or lucky tickets sometimes, or we even look to family for help when things get dicey in our lives.

Throughout the course of history man has looked to unexplored frontiers, frontiers that are accessible to the general public.  But all of those frontiers have vanished as there are no new continents or unexplored regions that offer freedom from oppression, or that even offer livable environments.

Certainly the general public cannot simply pack up and go into space, or to the bottom of the sea.  Those options are not available.

And even though there have been many outlets to look to, or to escape to, or organizations that offer assistance, there will come a time when even those options will vanish, and that leaves humanity with what?

In your personal life, you always face the prospect of your life ending, and from that there is no human or earthly alternative.

When history advances into the Tribulation, and the end of the world really does begin to crash all around, there will be no insurance, no medical aid to look to, no national or international organization available for helping the huge numbers of human population that will be in need of help, from disasters, from roving gangs, from their own governments.  Helplessness will be a very real reality, and terror, suffering and death will become common place.

And it is this ultimate final hopelessness both historically for all of humanity and for each individual person, to which this psalm is referring.

When the bad stuff really hits the fan and life falls apart for you, and, if you have not dedicated your life to God, to Christ, to doctrine, to the many mandates that God expects of you, to the many responsibilities that naturally fall upon you in life, to your spiritual life as defined and designed by God, then you will be without help, and no place to turn.  And that aloneness is a very terrible place to be.

As David pursued many of his enemies, he pursued relentlessly and did not stop his pursuit until he had caught them and had killed them.  And when he had accomplished that, then and only then did he cease his pursuit.  There was no one else to pursue.

And so, God will pursue evil, and those who reject Him.  God will turn his back on evil and let the world deal with them.  And when that happens, your options will have ceased and there will be nothing, literally nothing, to which you can turn for rescue or even help.

And, it will all be due to your indifference, to your faith pretense, to your disobedience to Gods very simply commands for pursuit of the spiritual life though Christ, through doctrine (your daily study), and all within the power of the Spirit (confession and fellowship).

Without these you have no active relationship with God and no real and reliable disaster aid available when you need it.

And for those who regularly reject God and their spiritual life, and then call upon Him in their time of need, He will not hear.  God will not even give you the courtesy of an answer.  And whose fault will that be?

Your spiritual life and thus a relationship with God, demands a life in fellowship, and a daily diet of Bible doctrine for the growth and development of your soul, of your faith, resulting in the completion of your essence as a living entity as designed and intended by God.

This, unfortunately, most people do not pursue. They instead define their own relationship of convenience, their own spirituality of convenience, their own ideas of convenience as to what is or is not faith.  And that error is usually never discovered until it is too late.  They do not care, are not concerned with truth, and will therefore pay the ultimate price one day, to their very huge dismay.

You, however have the opportunity now, to avoid that terrible existence and end to your life and you have a much better end to which you can look.  But that however, is only a potential.  You must dedicate your life, your daily life, to a daily study of the word of God, to a desire to learn, and to the facing of many challenges that this world will throw at you so as to derail your spiritual advanced.

But if you persevere, then your life now and your life in eternity will be beyond your wildest dreams, which is a far, far better end and destiny than you would otherwise get from this world and your pretended, excuse filled life.
