6 And [kai] the woman [gune] fled [pheugo] into [eis] the wilderness, [eremos] where [hopou] she hath [echo] a place [topos] prepared [hetoimazo] of [apo] God, [theos] that [hina] they should feed [trepho] her [autos] there [ekei] a thousand [chilioi] two hundred [diakosioi] and threescore [hexekonta] days. [hemera] KJV-Interlinear

6 And the woman fled into the wilderness where she had a place prepared by God, so that there she might be nourished for one thousand two hundred and sixty days. NASB

The woman, remember, is the symbolic reference for the nation of Israel. It is not a reference for Mary or some other specific person.

The nation came out of Egypt long ago, and spent forty years in the desert. While in the desert, they were provided for by God. That was the first generation of the nation.

Now in their last generation, the nation will come under the greatest suffering that they have ever been subjected to in all of their history.

Jesus referred to the last half of the Tribulation, as the Great Tribulation. The last three and a half years will see the most horrible judgments and torments against humanity in all of human history.

For forty-two months, or more specifically for 1260 days, God will care for the Jewish peoples who obey His command and head to the mountains at the mid-point of the Tribulation.

At that mid-point, the anti-christ will commit abominable acts in the newly opened Temple in Jerusalem. This dedication of the temple is only a ruse for the beginning of the greatest oppression and attempted genocide of the Jews, ever.

Jesus warns that when the abomination occurs, then time is up, Matt. 24:15-21. Get out of town and do not even go home to get things. Just go and do not look back, as Lots wife looked back.

Their hiding place will be in the mountains to the east, Dan. 11:40-41. And not to worry. The anti-christ will have a military organization, however remember that during the first three and a half years of the Tribulation, there will be horrible atrocities and judgments as well. His military will not be in good working order.

And just as many people who obey this command, will not have any supplies, God will create supplies for them during their hiding out time for the last forty-two months of the Tribulation. Those who obey and stick to their obedience, will be cared for. Those who give up, get impatient, try to sneak back into some city, give away their hiding place, listen to propaganda of Christ’s return, etc., will be captured and end up in some torture cell and then dead.

It will not be a fun time for folks, and especially for city folks who have to learn to live in the wilderness in hiding, without the comforts and conveniences of home that they have been used to. It is reasonable to assume that there will be many who will not adjust, and therefore will get caught or turn themselves in, and probably just for the promise of a meal and a hot bath, that they will never get.

Satan has been at the throats of Israel since the time of Abraham and Pharaoh and throughout history. Even though he has been defeated at every turn, and especially after the Cross, he is still going to try to destroy Israel at the very end of the Tribulation.

God has one last promise, and that is to bring a saved Israel into the Millennial Kingdom of Christ, Zech 12:10-13:1; Rom 11:25-27. Satan will try his very best to destroy all believing Jews, before the Second Advent of Christ.

And in a time when the odds of survival are totally and completely against them, God will save not just a few, but perhaps many thousands of Jewish believers (as well as gentile believers), who will repopulate the world during the Millennium.

For God, nothing is impossible. That principle applies to you and your life as well.
