15 For [gar] some [tis] are [ektrepo] already [ede] turned aside [ektrepo] after [opiso] Satan. [Satanas] KJV-Interlinear
15 for some have already turned aside to follow Satan. NASB
Turned aside, ‘ektrepo,’ means to turn away, avoid, aside, out of the way. It is a reference to a person turning away from their core values and setting them aside for other values.
After, ‘opiso,’ means to follow a pattern.
Satan, ‘satanas,’ means accuser.
Therefore, without guidance and support and direction, the young widows, will become disoriented to life and turn away from Christian principles and turn to worldly practices, and ultimately living from one complaint after another.
Likewise, anyone who lives in this world, is in effect stranded and without support, unless they turn to God, who provides the support they need, through doctrine.
Widows are our example, but these principles apply to us all.
Without doctrine, any person will turn aside and away from truth, and turn to those things which are false.
Bible doctrine provides orientation to life. Christian principles provide orientation to life. Those in need, for whatever reason, must have doctrine in some form, provided by individual Christians or through some formal academic setting.
If the church is more or less a social networking and activity venue, then those in need do not get what they need, namely the nuts and bolts of truth, with which they can make good decisions in their everyday life.
The world is full of social activities. The function of the church is Bible instruction, word by word, verse by verse, precept upon precept, and so forth.
People fail in life because they are either not interested in the details of a Bible study, or their access to a study does not teach the details of the scriptures as it should.
Young immature widows need the proper direction for re-establishing their lives. Immature Christians need the proper direction for establishing their lives.
