Psalm 27:8

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Psalm 27:8

8 When thou saidst, Seek [baqash] ye my face [paniym]; my heart [leb] said ['amar] unto thee, Thy face [paniym], LORD [Yahovah], will I seek [baqash]. KJV-Interlinear

8 When Thou didst say, "Seek My face," my heart said to Thee, "Thy face, O Lord, I shall seek."  NASB

God has commanded in the scriptures, ‘seek my face,’ reflecting the commands from 1 Chron 16:11, and Deut 4:29.

To seek God’s face, is a phrase that means, genuinely desire and pursue knowledge and understanding and wisdom, and a relationship with God that adds meaning and purpose and design to one’s own life.

The heart, is symbolism and a descriptive term, for the thoughts and intents activity of the soul.

What you think is what you are. And you cannot think in spiritual terms, unless you have spiritual information in your head.

David’s heart, or the thoughts of his soul, contained what he has learned from the scriptures.

And the only way he learned anything from the scriptures, was by reading them, but more importantly by being taught their content.

We are commanded to seek God. The only way you can seek God, is through a daily study from instruction, of the word of God.

You cannot wish knowledge on yourself. You cannot pretend knowledge within yourself. You cannot gain spiritual knowledge unless you are taught, and learn it while in fellowship.

There is only one God. There is only one Savior. There is only one faith. There is only one way to grow up in the spiritual life. There is only one way to learn doctrine.

Anyone who shirks these mandates of God, is a fool, is a pretender, and ultimately will be a failure.

Anyone who pursues God by means of gimmicks, or games, or clubs, or socially acceptable activities, is likewise a fool, and a pretender, which may impress people, but does not impress God.

God looks on the soul, and examines its content.

Pretense and superficiality produce an empty soul.

God is impressed by only one thing, which is his word. Therefore, assimilate doctrine into your soul, for that is the only way that you will gain acceptance from God.

Psalm 27:7

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Psalm 27:7

7 Hear [shama`], O LORD [Yahovah], when I cry [qara'] with my voice [qowl]: have mercy [chanan] also upon me, and answer [`anah] me.  KJV-Interlinear

7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice, And be gracious to me and answer me.  NASB

Hear, ‘shama,’ means to pay attention, to listen with obedience, to consider, to discern, to give ear.

Lord, ‘Yahovah,’ means self-existent, or eternal one.

Cry, ‘qara,’ means to call out, to bidden, to proclaim.

Mercy, ‘chanan,’ means to bend down or stoop in kindness as a superior would lean down to an inferior, to provide favor, to bestow, to grant.

Answer, ‘anah,’ means to pay attention and respond, to give account.

Throughout this psalm, David has described his dwelling place and place of security, within the tabernacle of God, which we know does not refer to a specific tent or even the tabernacle within the temple of Solomon, which didn’t even exist at that time, but refers to the symbolized tabernacle that exists within the soul when the individual believer is in fellowship.

Fellowship is the place of direct interaction with God. It is not a physical place, not a building, not a geographical place, but a place within the soul which is attained positionally, when the believer confesses his sins to God the Father. The mechanics of this is described in 1 John.

The spiritual life functions only when the individual believer is in fellowship, or symbolically, within the tabernacle and thus face-to-face with God.

This is the place of interactive prayer. And in prayer we are commanded to come boldly before the throne of grace. And that is what David is doing in this verse.

When the individual believer is in fellowship, God hears prayers. And David is demanding that hearing, which is an entitlement that God grants to every believer who is in fellowship.

All prayer is directed toward the Father, and to no one else. No legitimate prayer can be directed toward angels, toward ancestors, toward animals, toward ghosts, or toward inanimate objects such as the wind or fire or the moon, and so forth.

Mercy is grace in action. Grace is the favor of God, and mercy is the fulfillment of that favor, or God actually doing something for the believer.

In every prayer, every legitimate prayer, that is asked in accordance with Gods plan, will receive an answer of one sort or another. The answer may be, no, but nevertheless, every legitimate prayer offered by every believer, does get answered.

Galatians 4:22

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Galatians 4:22

22 For [gar] it is written [grapho], that [hoti] Abraham [Abraam] had [echo] two [duo] sons [huios], the one [heis] by [ek] a bondmaid [paidiske], [kai] the other [heis] by [ek] a freewoman [eleutheros].  KJV-Interlinear

22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the bondwoman and one by the free woman.  NASB

Paul begins his allegory with the first two sons of Abraham.

Abraham had one son by a slave woman named Hagar. Her son was Ishmael.

Abraham had a second son by his wife Sarah, whose name was Isaac.

After Sarah’s death, Abraham took a second wife named Keturah, who had several sons, and he had several mistresses toward the very end of his life, who also had children. Those details are recorded in Genesis 25.

Only the first two sons are in view here, as Paul is teaching a principle of doctrine, using Ishmael and Isaac, as his example. Genesis 16 and Genesis 21 contained the details of Paul’s example.

The first son, Ishmael, was born in accordance with Abraham’s own plan, as a slave girl, Hagar, who was the property of Sarah, was given to Abraham for the purpose of his having a child by her, being Hagar. This Ishmael was born from a slave, into a slave, representing the works of the world, as taught by the law, but was Abrahams attempt to fulfil Gods promise.

The second son, Isaac, was born in accordance with God’s plan and promise. He therefore was the son of promise, and not of human design.

So Paul begins explaining the contrast between slavery and freedom, using these two children as his example. The purpose is to teach the Galatians, as well as us and all believers for that matter, that there are two systems, or two patterns of life, from which you can choose to guide your own life.

The first pattern is that of works, where you try to do everything on your own with almost complete indifference toward God’s design for life.

The second pattern, is that of grace, or in this case promise, by which God does all of the work and we as man become the beneficiaries of the results of God’s work.

And as far as the Galatians were concerned in this book, where they were exposed to false teachings, requiring works, which in this case was circumcision, as a necessary activity for obtaining salvation.

But as we shall see from Paul’s example, the result of works will never be anything more than slavery.

And, the result of promise, or God’s plan, will always result in phenomenal blessing.

Galatians 4:21

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Galatians 4:21

21 Tell [lego] me [moi], ye that desire [thelo] to be [einai] under [hupo] the law [nomos], do ye [akouo] not [ou] hear [akouo] the law [nomos]? KJV-Interlinear

21 Tell me, you who want to be under law, do you not listen to the law? NASB

Paul is going to describe an example between the life of someone who is free, and the life of someone who is a slave.

Those who choose the life of slavery, are ignorant of the truth and do not know what they are choosing.

And Paul begins with this verse, which in effect says, once you know the difference between freedom and slavery, tell me then that you desire to be under the law, tell me then that you desire to place your life in slavery, rather than freedom.

The law in this case, is referring to a story from the book of Genesis.

Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible. And often, all five books are collectively referred to as the law. But the example for this, came from the time of Abraham, which was several centuries prior to the writing of these books by Moses.

And in his example, Paul, will describe the life of Ishmael and his mother, as compared to the life of Isaac.

The first, Ishmael, was a slave child born to a slave mother, of which both lived like slaves, were treated like slaves, and were rejected as slaves. Ishmael was not the son of promise or of freedom.

Isaac on the other hand, was born free, grew up free, and possessed honors in his life of freedom.

The law, represents submitting oneself to works for the accomplishment of freedom, but is in reality a choice for slavery.

Faith, represents submitting oneself to the work of God, and is in reality true freedom.

When submitting yourself, and looking to, the energy of your own efforts, you are also subscribing to the limitations and restrictions and burdens of this world. And from that there is no escape.

When submitting yourself to Christ, who is the sovereign authority over heaven and this universe and all that exists, then there are no limitations, no restrictions, and no burdens that can enter into, much less hinder your life.

What most people don’t seem to get, is that you cannot subscribe to something that you do not know or understand. And in order to align yourself with Christ, you have to learn Christ, which is the word of God, and that requires a daily study.

The right choice of course is freedom, but in freedom there is responsibility.  Absent that, the default is slavery.

Isaiah 14:21

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Isaiah 14:21ues

21 Prepare [kuwn] slaughter [matbeach] for his children [ben] for the iniquity [`avon] of their fathers ['ab]; that they do not [bal] rise [quwm], nor possess [yarash] the land ['erets], nor fill [male'] the face [paniym] of the world [tebel] with cities [`ar] [`iyr].  KJV-Interlinear

21 "Prepare for his sons a place of slaughter Because of the iniquity of their fathers. They must not arise and take possession of the earth And fill the face of the world with cities."  NASB

The word for children, ‘ben,’ refers to sons, which obviously is the male child of its parents, but historically male children are the pride the family representing the continuation of the line, the heir of the business.

Our subject is Satan. Our timeframe is the end of the Tribulation, which is the last seven years of human rule in human history. The Tribulation begins when the Rapture terminates our current dispensation. And the Tribulation ends approximately seven years later with the second advent of Christ.

The Tribulation will be the worst period of evil and destruction in all of human history.

Satan of course has no physical children. But here the word for children, is a reference to the results of his production, which is evil, which too, is his pride and joyful achievement. That evil has been responsible for all the atrocities, problems, burdens, difficulties, handicaps, biases, everything bad that has ever occurred in history.

The word for fathers, can refer to a parent of course, but here it is a representation of the principal patterns of evil that have been followed from generation to generation throughout history.

Satan authored evil, and because of that influence, people have been affected by and have subscribed to, that evil.

Satan has never even considered anything other than evil, just as a proud parent looks to the son regardless of the sons qualities.

When the second advent occurs, Satan will be clapped in chains and hauled off to the abyss. With Satan out of the picture, his influence likewise will no longer exist for the world.

Christ and truth will rule, but man will still have free will. But even so, without Satan’s influence the implements of war will cease to exist or even to be made, and the environment will instantaneously get better. And, for the one thousand year rule of Christ on this planet, war and conflict, even religion, will cease to exist.

The evil of Satan will cease to exist when he is incarcerated, and therefore his influence throughout the many generations that will occur during the millennium, likewise will cease to exist.
