Christmas - 2006

Copyright Ó 2006,2012 J. Neely

Christmas - 2006
(Original Poem by R Thieme.  Edited and expanded by J Neely)

T’was the night before Christmas, and all through the world
A message was preached, a challenge was hurled

Believe on the son, and thou shalt be saved
The road to heaven, with His blood is paved

From out of the darkness, of sin and despair
Comes God’s salvation, the fairest of fair

Born in a manger, no room at the inn
God in the flesh, came and died for our sin

The angels sang, the shepherds rejoiced
Messiah has come, the message is voiced

To joyous people, those far and those near
Christmas has come, Immanuel is here

Believe with your heart, with all of your might
Salvation is yours, on this great holy night

Persist in your growth, in your spiritual life
Learn, grow, and win, over life's constant strife

To the mighty comes none, to the proud there is loss
To the weak an abundance, the fruit of Gods Cross

Come one and come all, open hearts to Gods call
For he who has faith, belongs the greatest of all.

I wish to thank each and every one of you for your ongoing and continued support, and dedication to this Daily Bible Study.

From my family here in Oregon, to your family in all corners of the world, through this wonderful technology, which gives us all a very unique opportunity to study the Word of God together though we do not see each other, we wish all a very merry Christmas.

Keep in the Word, Isa. 41:10.

Isaiah 41:10
Fear not for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God, I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.

And now to Him who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you without blemish before the presence of His Glory, with exceeding joy, to the only wise God and savior, even Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom be glory, and majesty, dominion and power forever and ever.  Amen!

End of Lesson.

Study to show thyself approved, (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing, (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.

Isaiah 8:9

Copyright Ó 2012 J. Neely
Isaiah 8:9

9 Associate [ra`a`] yourselves, O ye people, [`am] and ye shall be broken in pieces; [chathath] and give ear, ['azan] all [kol] ye of far [merchaq] countries: ['erets] gird ['azar] yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; [chathath] gird ['azar] yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces. [chathath] KJV-Interlinear

9 "Be broken, O peoples, and be shattered; And give ear, all remote places of the earth. Gird yourselves, yet be shattered; Gird yourselves, yet be shattered. NASB

Associate, ‘ra a,’ means to ally oneself, to connect with, to confederate with, to enter into an alliance with.

Here the prophet is speaking to the nations of Assyria, Syria, and Samaria, all of whom have aligned themselves against Judah, and thus have aligned themselves against God.

And here is the challenge.  Despite the magnitude of their military strength, for gird yourself is repeated, emphasizing that all of Gods enemies have spent their energy in building up their strength for this war.

But despite their overwhelming resources and power, as opposed to Judah, they are never going to be strong enough to defeat God.

The result of their invasion will be their ultimate and utter defeat.

Broken into pieces or shattered, means total destruction and annihilation and obliteration, such that they will never rise again.

Now, remember that many of these prophecies have their place in past history as examples of what is going to occur in the future.  The real prophecy is set for the Tribulation, and more specifically at the end of the Tribulation when Judah will be invaded from all sides, beginning from the north.

But more than that, the entire world will ally itself against Judah and God, and as a result, the entire world will end up in a shambles at the Second Advent.

By comparison with Judah, in that future date, the entire world will have more manpower, more firepower, more resources than one can even begin to imagine.  And poor little Judah, will be out-matched by far.

Judah will be overrun, and Judah will be hammered to near extinction, but in the end, it will be the world that will lose completely.

Psalm 21:6

Copyright Ó 2012 J. Neely
Psalm 21:6

6 For thou hast made [shiyth] him most blessed [Barakah] for ever: [`ad] thou hast made [chadah] him exceeding glad [simchah] with thy countenance. [paniym] KJV-Interlinear

6 For Thou dost make him most blessed forever; Thou dost make him joyful with gladness in Thy presence. NASB

Made, ‘shiyth,’ means to appoint, set to be, to place, to make, to complete.

Blessed, ‘barakah,’ means to be prospered, sanctified, to collect in a pool, to present through.

Exceedingly glad, ‘simchah,’ means extensive blithesomeness, happy, glee, pleasure, rejoice.

Countenance, ‘paniym,’ means face, presentation, favor, forefront.

God sets or appoints the believer.

God blesses the believer, and causes blessings to come to others through the pool of blessings of the believer.

God is the source of happiness.  Things are never the source of happiness.

And all these are available to the believer in the presence and favor of God, never in the presence of self or others.

We can only be in Gods presence while we are on this earth, by means of the fellowship concept, which is obtained through confession.

Blessings do not come to you because of who you are, or because of what you do.

Blessings come to you only by means of Gods efforts, by means of Gods plan, by means of Gods rules for the spiritual life.  And then and only then, does God appoint blessings to you based on your adherence to His plan, His mandates, His expectations of you.

You really have nothing to do in the spiritual life but to listen, learn, and do what God teaches.  In everything else in life, God provides the means, the method, the opportunity, and the results.

And as a result of obedience to His will, then happiness, genuine happiness comes into the soul and life of the believer.

Psalm 21:5

Copyright Ó 2012 J. Neely
Psalm 21:5

5 His glory [kabowd] is great [gadowl] in thy salvation: [yashuw`ah] honour [howd] and majesty [hadar] hast thou laid [shavah] upon him. KJV-Interlinear

5 His glory is great through Thy salvation, Splendor and majesty Thou dost place upon him. NASB

Glory, splendor, and majesty are a part of every individual believer throughout history.

David is the one being referred to here, but the pattern of his life applies to all believers.  And as a believer in Christ, this applies to you.

You have glory. You have honor.  You have majesty.

But, these do not come from your own self, or from your own efforts.  These do not even originate from you. Neither are they earned or deserved by you.

The only legitimate glory and honor and majesty in existence belong to God and to God alone. No one else has any of these traits as original possessions which they can claim as their own.

God is the source and if you have any of these, then they came from God and from no other source.

The ‘Thy and Thou’ here indicate Gods work and Gods possession which He provides and places on the believer.

The work of God is consistent throughout the scriptures and throughout history.

Gods work, never mans, is the key to truth and the production of good.

Mans works are never a part of the spiritual life.

God planned and carried out the work of salvation.

God authored the scriptures, and invented the mechanism for mans assimilation of the scriptures.

It is God who communicates truth to man.  It is God who makes truth clear and lucid.  It is God who transfers truth into the believer, through his human spirit and into the soul.  It is doctrine, that is the written manifestation of Christ, who is God.  It is doctrine that lays the foundation of truth in the soul and builds the spiritual structure within the soul.

It is the spiritual aspect of your life that is the target for Gods favor and blessing, and the vessel which holds Gods glory, honor and majesty within you, in your behalf.

Ephesians 6:24

Copyright Ó 2012 J. Neely
Ephesians 6:24

24 Grace [charis] be with [meta] all [pas] them that love [agapao] our [hemon] Lord [kurios] Jesus [Iesous] Christ [Christos] in [en] sincerity. [aphtharsia] Amen. [amen]  To [pros] the Ephesians [Ephesios] written [grapho] from [apo] Rome, [Rhome] by [dia] Tychicus. [Tuchikos]  KJV-Interlinear

24 Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with a love incorruptible.   NASB

Grace, ‘charis,’ is Gods favor.

Sincerity, ‘aphtharsia,’ means incorruption, existence, genuineness, incorruptibility.

Therefore, Gods favor comes to those who maintain a relationship with God, through Christ.  A genuine relationship that is based on the content of the scriptures learned in the proper way, and by means of Gods one and only method for the functional and developing spiritual life.

Sincerity is not an emotional or well intentioned attitude, but an adherence to the method of functioning within the spiritual life as God intended.

Gods favor does not come to you through wishes or hoping or wishing or good intentions or by means of your own idea of how spirituality is supposed to work.

There is but one method, one apparatus, one mechanism by which the spiritual life functions and succeeds, and it is defined very well in the scriptures.

And that method is that you must first be saved by means of believing in Christ.

Second, you must live your life in fellowship, which is obtained by means of confession of your sins to God the Father, repetitively on a regular basis.  ‘Father, I did this and that and this and that, etc.’

While in fellowship, you must engage in a daily Bible study, learning, pondering, thinking, understanding, and using that which you learn in your daily life.

And while you may be learning simple stories and verses and words and so forth, it is not those words per se that develop your spiritual growth, it is the function of the Holy Spirit that circulates that information into your human spirit which helps you to discern truth from lies, then transferring it down into your soul.

And from within your soul, that information begins the building process or the edification process of the spiritual fortress, spiritual mansion, spiritual temple within your soul.  That construction is the framework for your spiritual productivity (what you do in life), which in turn completes your spiritual life.

All of this forms a strong soul, in faith, which is the spiritual muscle of your life.  Faith is based on actual content, never on luck.

And all of this process culminates in your clear and perspicuous view and understanding of life and truth and the world around you.

And to you, comes Gods favor because of the accomplishment of doctrine within you.  God does not bless you for you, but for that which is in you.  Truth is the source, God, and truth is the target, a spiritually sound soul.

Jesus Christ is the living manifestation of the written word.  Doctrine in you, places Christ in you in a functional way.

The subscript indicates that Paul used others to write his words. Whether he dictated and they wrote, or whether he wrote and they copied is irrelevant.  A similar comment is written at the end of Romans and 1 Corinthians.

The subject of Ephesians is the church, its role, its development, its obligations, its responsibilities.

You as a believer in Christ are a member of that church, which by the way is the one and only legitimate church in existence.  It includes Adam and Eve and every person who has ever believed in the one and only Savior, Jesus Christ.

By the end of the Millennium, there will likely be several trillion members, when history is all said and done.

So while you are a member of the only legitimate minority during history, you are also a member of the greatest organization, family, nation, and army that will ever exist.

You have a phenomenal opportunity to construct your life and determine your eternal future.  Don’t waste it through rejection, antagonism, or plain stubborn indifference.
