Titus 3:13

13 Bring [propempo] Zenas [Zenas] the lawyer [nomikos] and [kai] Apollos [Apollos] on their journey [propempo] diligently [spoudaios], that [hina] nothing [medeis] be wanting [leipo] unto them [autos].    KJV-Interlinear

13 Diligently help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way so that nothing is lacking for them.    NASB

Zenas means living, and Apollos means destroyer.

Both men were well versed in the scriptures.  And although nothing is known about Zenas, other than what is mentioned here, his being a lawyer, just what kind of law practice isn’t made clear.  More than likely he was one who was well versed in the Levitical Laws and that is probably what is meant here. 

If he were a civil lawyer or a criminal lawyer, then he probably would not be traveling with Paul and others for the purpose of spreading the scriptures.  But then, he could very well be a retired lawyer and was traveling in that capacity.

But no matter.  What is clear is the meaning of his name, which is ‘living.’  So he was certainly a born again Christian, and the life of the gospel and doctrine were within him.  He was likely spiritually mature.

As for Apollos, his name means destroyer, but his nature is described in several passages, Acts 18:24, 1 Cor. 1:12, 3:5-6, 4:6.  Apollos seems to have been quite the dynamic orator, able to crush any argument that was presented to him.  Powerful in the scriptures (Old Testament), as described in Acts, and well versed in doctrine.

When folks traveled in the ancient world, they were treated as guests and all their expenses (usually room and board) were paid for them by their host.  That is what ‘nothing is lacking for them,’ means.

And so what does all of this have to do with you?

Well, more than likely you are an obscure person with respect to this world.  As far as this world goes, no one knows you.  But in heaven, God knows you and God takes care of all your needs, and that is all that matters in life.

As far as this world goes, you are powerless.  But as far as doctrine goes, when you advance in your spiritual life, then you become powerful, a destroyer, as it were. 

When anyone looks at you, they most likely will not even see you.  You are unassuming and common as far as the world goes, but the cover does not reflect the content of the book in the case of the silent warrior in the Christian.  If you have seen that video of the woman in Britain, singing, then you’ll understand this principle.

You do not have to be a dynamic and extraverted individual in order to be great or have a great life.  Most people in this world, are not.  But God levels the paying field for everyone, and is able to craft each one of us into phenomenal individuals, with doctrine.

The subject of the Book of Titus is discernment, insight, perspicacity.  The ability to distinguish between the true realities of life from the false.  The ability to make good decisions.

If you were standing at the bottom of a tall building, and someone pushed a piano off the roof, falling right down toward you, and you look up and see it coming, do you wait for a voice from heaven to shout, ‘Get out of the way, stupid!’? 

No, you possess some degree of common sense and know when it is time to move from danger. God gave you that common sense, through doctrine.  Some people use their heads, but most folks do not.

Bible doctrine provides you with clarity of thought.  God is not going to think for you, and there won’t be any voices from heaven, or dreams from heaven, but God will through doctrine, give you a bit more insight as to how you can use the mental capabilities you already possess.

Look around you, you have options. Titus was instructed to observe and listen to the folks he was recruiting for making the local churches stable and long lasting.

Was Titus going to be perfect in his choices?  No.  But he would use his abilities of observation, combined with the principles of life that he had learned from his doctrinal studies, to help him make better choices than he otherwise might have made.

You are not a dummy.  You have options in life.  Figure them out, write them down, make a list, do whatever it is that you need to do in order to make your life better, and pursue your life.  Do not abandon doctrine.  Do not fade away from your daily study.  That is the foundation of your life, and the access source through which all, repeat, all blessings from God, come to you.

Have a good life now?  Then thank God for giving the pathetic you, what you have. 

Have a bad life now?  Then thank God for giving you the doctrine with which you can survive your ordeal, and by which you can escape it.

God brings no difficulty into the life of any individual, which is greater than they are able to bear.  And believe me, people are well able to bear a lot.  History has proven that over and over again.

But God did not place you in this world to suffer and have a miserable life.  God put you here to have a phenomenal life.  God always provides a way out of your difficulty, and doctrine is that way out, or better stated, doctrine is the doorway, through which you can discover your way out (daily study, learning, application to your daily life, obedience to Gods mandates).  Obedience is usually the falling down area in the spiritual life.

Somewhere on the web site I have a spiritual life check list.  You might want to find it and re-read it.

Unfortunately, too many folks simply do not walk through that door, and that is the great failure of anyone's life.

Without doctrine all you have is the jungle, and the jungle is good to no one, brutal to all.

Titus 3:12

Titus 3:12

12 When [hotan] I shall send [pempo] Artemas [Artemas] unto [pros] thee [se], or [e] Tychicus [Tuchikos], be diligent [spoudazo] to come [erchomai] unto [pros] me [me] to [eis] Nicopolis [Nikopolis]: for [gar] I have determined [krino] there [ekei] to winter [paracheimazo].    KJV-Interlinear

12 When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, make every effort to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there.    NASB

Artemas means gift of Artemis (spelled with an ‘i,’ who was the Greek goddess that watched over nature for humans and animals).  Artemas also means, something ready.

Tychicus means chance, fortune, fortuitous.  It would seem that Tychicus was a one in a million person (Pauls good fortune) that spent a great deal of time with Paul on his journeys, and Tychicus was one of the primary messengers who delivered various of Pauls letters to the many cities in Asia Minor and elsewhere.

Nicopolis is not mentioned much in the Bible.  It appears to be the city located in Western Greece on the gulf just off the Black Sea.  And though it is not mentioned in any of the typical three journeys of Paul, its mention here only indicates that Paul traveled to many more places, than have been revealed in the scriptures.

His spending the winter, also indicates that he stayed in places, from time to time, for an extended period of time.

Likewise, Paul surrounded himself with people who had unique skills, for dealing with the many obstacles of spreading the gospel, and with the establishment of churches or study groups, in that first century.

Everyone has a skill of some sort.  Remember the mention of Tychicus in the Book of Philemon, who was the intermediary between Onesimus and Philemon?  So, Tychicus was more than a mere messenger or deliverer of the mail.

Titus was a trouble shooter and organizer.  And the Bible mentions many folks of which we have no clue as to their role in life.  Likewise, there are many more folks of whom we have no mention in the Bible, yet we know by the application of common sense, that many thousands and tens of thousands of people participated in that first century spreading of the gospel and doctrine.

Then there are the many other centuries right up until our current day.

Neither you nor I have a mention in the Bible, nor in the world news, yet we are among the silent influence on history, that is known only in heaven.

No matter what your circumstances, you can be a hero.  A hero that will be recognized by the Lord at the appropriate time and place in heaven.  You may only change diapers, but that makes no difference.

This world will never recognize a diaper changer, or a ditch digger, or anyone who does not comply with the world’s standards for public celebrityship. 

Your occupation in this world is irrelevant to your spiritual life.  Your circumstances are irrelevant to your spiritual life. 

If you think your life is tough, then trust me, there are many more folks in other parts of the world, that are far worse off than you will ever be.

And if you have been with this study for any length of time, then you know that by the time the Rapture occurs, the worlds spiritual state will be in terrible shape, thus the shock of the Rapture, to kick start a spiritual revival in those folks that will be left behind.  And their time, the Tribulation, will be the worst period of time in all of human history for spiritual growth, but many will advance in their spiritual lives regardless of the massive falling apart of the world.

So, no matter who you are, or where you live, or what you do, or what your circumstances are in life, there is hope for you.  All you have to do is get with your daily study, and stick with it, and God will reveal to you, in due course, your role in life.

Your situation is irrelevant as well.  Bible study, produces spiritual growth, produces discernment, produces wisdom, produces a better life for you.

Titus 3:10-11

Titus 3:10-11

10 A man [anthropos] that is an heretick [hairetikos] after [meta] the first [mia] and [kai] second [deuteros] admonition [nouthesia] reject [paraiteomai];

10 Reject a factious man after a first and second warning,  11 knowing that such a man is perverted and is sinning, being self-condemned.   NASB

The word for heretic, ‘hairetikos,’ means one who has made a choice, to choose, one who is engaged in, or taking part in, an opposing view, a conspirator.

Typically a heretic represents a person who forsakes a generally accepted truth, and chooses some dogma of his own invention.  Or, one that is obstinately attached to an opinion contrary to that accepted in society.  Or, one who is defiantly stubborn in their own beliefs, and will neither submit to truth, nor reason.

This choice is one of conscious choice, in his own insincerity, from a system of philosophy that is not interested in some furthering of truth or the betterment of society, but from a selfish desire to increase his own livelihood.

Anyone who disagrees with you is not a heretic, although many use the term erroneously just to accomplish some slander or ego victory.  But a true heretic is anyone who subscribes to beliefs that are not in conformance with truth.  Since the Bible is truth, then any other belief is a pursuit of lies.

And Paul makes it very clear here, that such a person, who can be any person, does this freely and of their own volition, and with full knowledge of what they are doing.  They have no excuse when their certain and destined date with judgment, arrives.

During your lifetime, you will be confronted with many such controversies. It may be with a marriage partner, a child, a friend or acquaintance, a stranger, with anyone in general.  You approach your relationships with people in different ways. 

In marriage you always support your spouse, and always stick with them through thick and thin.

In family, you always provide continuing instruction and advice with children so long as they live with you, and to some extent when they have left the nest.

In these relationships you cannot simply walk away, or shouldn’t.

But when it comes to friends, acquaintances, and strangers, you can only do so much, go so far, and then you have to let go, if they reject your point of view.  God will deal with them, perhaps in another way, or by some other means, but when you hit a brick wall of rejection, then you have no choice but to back off.

And here, the word is reject, ‘paraiteomai,’ means refusing admission, to decline appointment to an office.  And in this manner your attempt to convince someone in doctrine, has not failed, but that the listener has refused your view, therefore your engagement, appointed by God, has been withdrawn and reserved for another.

As with a salesman, you may have many opportunities to sell your goods, but will meet with many refusals before you actually make a sale.

And so it is with your participation in the conveyance of your beliefs with others, throughout your life.

You may have many opportunities, or you may have very few.  That call is not yours, but Gods.  And what God does here, is to allow you to quietly withdraw from a potential confrontation that will only get ugly.

By refusing this principle, you only make yourself a nuisance to others who simply do not want to hear your views, and your persistence will only set their ultimate conversion back, as they become more and more defensive.  And besides, your persistence will become a violation of their rights to not listen, to not engage in your views, an invasion into their privacy and right to make their own decisions, and you demonstrate poor and improper Christian ethics, making you the hypocrite, not them.

Truth stands on its own.  It does not need you in order to convince others. God the Holy Spirit is actually the one who is keeping the line of communication open, not you.  And therefore, if anyone continues to reject, they are rejecting God, not you.  But then you have no right to condemn, judge, make your own evaluations, or make smirk remarks, either.

Everyone in this world, will have ample opportunities to hear the gospel, and doctrine.   Everyone in this world, will have ample opportunities to accept or reject the gospel or doctrine.  You may be only one instance, out of many, of their hearing.  So you do your part, and then move on if appropriate.  Your effort is not a failure, so you have no basis to get upset because someone you want to help, refuses your help.

When I first began posting this study online, only a hand full of folks discovered it for many years, but now after a decade, it is read by folks in over 80 countries (according to the last Google Web Site analysis I received).  But still, nearly half of those who visit the study, never come back, and of those who remain with the study, many will still fall away sooner or later.  I wish there were a one-hundred percent retention, but that would be an unreasonable expectation.  If the study falls on deaf ears for ninety-nine, but only one listens and learns, then the study is a success.

And so it is with your life.  Your priority is to grow up in your spiritual life, first.  Then, when you are prepared, God will use you for His intended purpose, not yours.  And what that purpose is, you might not discover for many years, but one day you will recognize your purpose, and you will also discover that God made you the perfect person for that job. 

God has an infinite number of possible uses for you, and each is no greater, nor less valuable, than any other.

And in that, you will become the hero, the blue ribbon, the gold medal, the trophy winner that God has made you into.  And that, you could never, nor ever will, gain from this world on your own.

Titus 3:9

Titus 3:9

9 But shun foolish controversies and genealogies and strife and disputes about the Law; for they are unprofitable and worthless.   NASB

Controversies, run the gamut from office politics, to social bickering, from governmental policy, to virtually every issue in society, from personal opinion to personal beliefs, to inordinate ambition, to inordinate competitiveness, to incessant complaining, and on and on and on.

Wherever there is a disagreement between two or more people, whether in social circles, marriage, family, friends, or in the public venue, there is the basis for controversy.

And in things of controversy, you either have to hold your ground, compromise, or change over to the other view.

And regardless of the issue, any controversy engaged in within this world, is approached without facts, without orientation to the realities of the issue, and certainly without knowing the true answer, or the repercussions of the answers desired.  Bias, selfishness, and convenience are the usual ingredients.

Controversies are fueled by arrogance.  People with opinions based on little or no knowledge.

And of course we are talking here about the issues of the world, not the issues of the Bible.

The issues of the world create nothing, produce nothing, solve nothing, and are impotent with respect to contributing to ones destiny.

Genealogies are the controversies of ones color, or gender, or culture, or ancestry, or heritage, or whatever it is that makes you think that you are better, or worse than anyone else.  These are opinions that presume some form of superiority of ones self over others.

The Jewish people back in Paul’s day, thought that they were the superior race, chosen by God, custodians of the scriptures, and therefore better than everyone else. 

The Muslims of today, believe similar things, only that the rest of us are infidels and worthy of nothing short of being killed.

And then you have the skin heads, and black-panther types, cults galore, nazis followers, and so on and so forth.  All of whom want to force their views on everyone else, which simply means that they want everyone else to be enslaved by them.  They, being the elite among us, and we, providing for their every whim.

Strife's and disputes are the arguments and conflicts that crop up among people, neighbors, couples, family members, nations, etc.

The law here is not a reference to the Levitical Law, but to the regulatory function of government in general.  This opens up a huge can of worms, what with entitlement programs, regulatory programs, taxation, the use of public money, pork barrel policies, and so forth.

If we listed every controversy, or issue, or difference of opinion that could come up in life, you probably wouldn’t have enough time in this life, to read them all. 

Suffice to say, there are so many possible distractions in this world, which can keep you or prevent you from your spiritual life, that if you were not alert to some extent, you wouldn’t even know that you were being prevented from something better.

And in all of these issues in life, unless they have their origin in some principle of doctrine, then they are totally worthless and a huge waste of your time.

For example.  What color of clothing you choose to wear is a matter of personal preference.  Others should not get involved in your wardrobe choices.  However, the hostage incident on the high seas the other day, was handled perfectly.  Those who are complaining that the pirates rights were violated, are detached from reality.

Matters of opinion can be expressed, but should go no further.  ‘I see you are wearing red.  I think you would look better in a darker shade.’

Matters of doctrine, need to be aligned perfectly with the principles of truth.  ‘If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.’

And so, if you don’t wish to lose out on your eternal future, then don’t trade it away on the inconsequential things of this life.  Esau traded his whole future away for a single meal.

Everything from this world is that single meal.  It will never compare with an eternity of blessing that you are trading away for it, which is what you are doing if you do not pursue your spiritual life.

Titus 3:8

8 This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men. NASB


The world is full of living examples of Gods faithfulness. As we end this Easter celebration, we have seen on the news, the brilliant rescue and bravery of a ships captain half way around the world. And the repercussions of pirates (three of them at least), who are now seeing the truth for what it really is. Facing Jesus in terrible embarrassment, or worse, depending on their spiritual state for this life.

It is often the times of harsh realities of life, that force people to turn to God, whereas they might otherwise not give God much thought, and therefore ending their life in terrible error and disgrace and failure.

The pirates lost their effort in crime and degenerate pursuit of life, but then far more people ignore God, and though they are law abiding, they too will lose out in life.

With all of the teaching in the scriptures, people cannot be forced to listen or even to learn Gods instruction, which is unfortunate. It is often too bad that folks will read the news and get all upset over some unconfirmed reporting of a problem with food or a product, and yet their life and their entire future is ignored, by ignoring the scriptures, as though it has no value.

Paul ends this verse with the comment, ‘good and profitable.’

But what does that really mean?

Well the first part of the verse says it all. What you hear from the teaching of the Bible, is good for you. Unfortunately to many folks simply do not believe that. And those who say they believe, don’t adopt it into the daily practice of their life.

In this life you learn, or should learn, that there are many things that are good for you. Things like an education, a good diet, exercise, honesty, etc., etc., etc. And most folks generally look to those things in life, in order to get by.

But for all that we are exposed to in this life, none of them are of any value, if we lose out on our spiritual life.

Our spiritual life sets the stage for our eternal existence, which by the way, is a far greater time span (infinite), than any lifespan you will have on this earth.

You are to listen, to learn, and to grow up, such that you will engage in ‘good deeds.’ What is that? Well, anything that you do while living within the fellowship sphere of your spiritual life.

All of your thinking produces something within your soul.

When functioning within your spiritual life, then your production is described as gold, silver, and precious stones. When you are out of fellowship, then your production is described as wood, hay and stubble. And these latter three are rotten wood, rotten hay, and rotten stubble, or absolutely worthless things.

Now, if you were wealthy, would you invest in a deteriorating business, which has no prospects of a future? No.

Wouldn’t you be better off in investing in a producing and productive gold mine?

So, good works is your function, while actively operating within your spiritual life.

While in fellowship, God the Holy Spirit, controls your soul, and when in control, He uses His power to reinforce, through doctrine, your soul. In Ephesians it is called edifying, or building a powerful spiritual complex within your soul.

And to what end? So that you will have a fantastic eternal life. One greater than you can possibly imagine.

Concerning these things, things that have already been mentioned, as the promises of God, are why you need to focus on the important things in life (your spiritual life), and disregard the unimportant things in life (worldly issues).

What is important? Doctrine, knowledge, understanding, wisdom, and out of these come responsibility, honesty, integrity, but more important, spiritual growth.

What is unimportant? Nearly every issue of this world, that you make an issue, presumably to make this world into a better world, or to cut a little something out for yourself. And there is nothing (except doctrine) that can make this world better than it is.

But then, our inheritance is not this world anyway, but the next world. And by the way, God is not going to allow this world to be destroyed, until human history has run its full course. And then it will be God who will destroy it, in an instant, and then replace everything.

There are many pressures, troubles, and controversies in life. Whether political, social, economic, personal, or whatever, makes no difference. None of them will improve your life in the way that Bible doctrine will.

So, learn to focus on doctrine, and learn to let the controversies of the world be dealt with by God. For it is He who ultimately controls history and your life.

‘Stop worrying about anything, but in everything through prayer and supplication (requests), let your needs, desires, wishes, be made known unto God.
For it is of the Lord mercies (grace (favor) in action), which are new every morning, that shall sustain you. He will never suffer the righteous (the spiritually motivated person), to be moved (to fail).
Cast (slam) all your cares on Him, for He cares for you (far more than you realize).
Study (listen, learn, apply) to show yourself approved (mature) unto God, a workman (that is you), that need not be ashamed (but confident), by rightly dividing the word of truth (learning so that you can discern between truth and false).
For of Him (Christ), and to Him (Christ), and through Him (Christ), are all things, to whom be glory, dominion, and power forever and ever (which you are going to jointly inherit). Amen.’

Titus 3:7

7 that being justified by His grace we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. NASB


The action of Gods justice toward sin and death, has set us free. Gods (Jesus Christ’s) work on the Cross, paid the price of sin. The punishment that Christ received in our place, while on the Cross, was the single act of justice which cleansed humanity from all sin.

And it was not by means of anything that any of us has done, or even could do, but by the work of God alone, which accomplished our freedom.

God did this based on His grace, His favor, in our behalf. God did this based on His love, His philanthropy, His generosity toward us.

God had a plan and still has a plan, for each individual person, and that includes you. His plan was and is, to make us perfect such that we could live in heaven, for all of eternity, with Him, in perfect security, in perfect happiness, in perfect prosperity, in perfect everything, forever, and ever, and ever.

And not only has He done this for us, but He has given us the full measure of His own power and resources, through the Holy Spirit.

And not only this, but God has gone even further to make each of us an heir, an owner (something that we do not have now), of the new universe and heaven combined, for all of eternity, and no one will ever take it away from us.

An heir receives full ownership, free of encumbrances (in this case). And an heir receives it for all of his natural life. And in eternity since we possess eternal life, then our natural life will extend into forever.

And our hope, ‘elpis,’ means confidence, not wishful thinking, but actual certainty that what God has promised, He will deliver.

Titus 3:6

6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, NASB


The Holy Spirit is God. He is a person, just as the other two members of the Godhead are, 2 Cor. 13:14, 1 Pet. 1:2.

As the Father is the unseen member of the Trinity who authored the plan for the Divine Decrees, so too, the Holy Spirit is the unseen member of the Trinity through whom divine power is conveyed. In this sense, the Holy Spirit is the agent for the revealing of the Plan of God, and the agent for the power by which the plan is executed.

Jesus Christ, the Son, is the only revealed member of the Trinity, and it is He who executes the Plan of God, and therefore the one who controls history.

The Holy Spirit has many attributes which describe His function and role in life. He is called the Spirit of holiness, Rom. 1:4, life, Rom. 8:2, knowledge, Isa. 11:2, truth, Jn. 14:17.

He restores and gives life, Gen. 1:2, Job 33:4.
He is the agent for the restraint of sin, 2 Thes. 2:6-7.
He acts as the substitute for the missing human spirit in unbelievers so that they can understand the Gospel, 2 Cor. 2:14.
He is the guide to all truth, Jn. 16:13-15.
He is the divine author (writer) of the scriptures, 1 Cor. 2:16, Heb. 3:7.
The Holy Spirit guarantees accurate communication of truth, 2 Sam. 23:2, 2 Tim. 3:16, 2 Pet. 1:20-21.
The Holy Spirit teaches the believer, Jn. 14:26, 15:26.
The Holy Spirit is the agent for converting knowledge, into understanding or wisdom, Eph. 3:19, 4:13, 2 Pet. 1:8.
The Holy Spirit is the agent of regeneration, Titus 3:5, baptizes us into union with Christ, 1 Cor. 12:13, 1 Pet. 2:9. He indwells the believer, Rom. 8:9-11, 1 Cor. 3:16, 6:19-20, 2 Cor. 6:16, Col. 1:27-29.
He is the agent of sealing or guaranteeing eternal life for the believer, Eph. 1:13, 4:30.
He provides a spiritual gift for each believer, 1 Cor. 12:4, Eph. 4:11.
We are commanded to be filled (fellowship) with the Spirit, Eph. 5:18, which is the result of confession of sin to God the Father.
He is the agent of the production of divine good (gold, silver, and precious stones), 1 Cor. 3:12-13, which is rewarded in eternity, 1 Cor. 3:14.

These are just as few of the attributes of the Holy Spirit, who is unseen and unheard, and unfelt by humanity.

As for those who boast of their unique contact with their Holy Spirit, there are special padded rooms, and jackets, even medication that can help their condition.

The Holy Spirit is in you, if you have believed in Christ. His indwelling is automatic, just as all three members of the Trinity’s indwelling in you, is, from the moment you first believed in Christ. Their indwelling is permanent and you will never, nor can you ever, lose it.

The word for richly, means abundant. Abundant means a vast quantity of which you could never use in an infinite number of lifetimes. In other words, it is a lot.

The Holy Spirit is the mechanism by which the power of God is conveyed and applied to everything.

Therefore, since the ultimate power of the universe, is resident within you, in abundant quantities, then that sort of makes you very special.

Jesus Christ is the agent of salvation, and through the plan of God, all contact with Him (God the Father), must go through the Son, Jesus Christ.

Had the Cross not occurred, then this power and relationship with God, would not have been possible.

This is the ultimate and distinctive difference (access to God, through Christ) between Christianity and all other religions, beliefs, cults, philosophies, etc.

The pouring of Gods blessings are represented by these words. God pours generously and without limit. And if you advance to spiritual maturity, then you will not only experience phenomenal blessing now in this life, but you will really experience them in eternity, which is or should be, your ultimate goal in life.

God conceived the concept of salvation for humanity, not on the basis of anything that any human being can or will do, but He put into play the plan of salvation, based on His own design, plan, and effort.

Salvation is not connected with human effort or even human intent. The work of salvation was intended for everyone, and is offered as a gift to all. Each person has but only to accept it through faith in Christ. And that expression of faith takes virtually no effort on mans part.

Mans righteousness is as filthy rags, as Isaiah puts it. Actually the filthy rags are uncleaned, reused, and reused and reused menstrual rags. Disgusting idea, and so is mans righteousness.

Salvation is Gods effort for saving man from eternal separation from God. To reject God means to separate ones self from God forever. And since man has no power or control over his environment (God controls everything), then man can’t possibly exist alone in any meaningful way. Chaos and more chaos is mans only destiny, when God is not in his life.

Try controlling anything around you right now. Can you control the weather, the ocean currents, any imminent disasters, the economy, your own life span, anything? No. You really have no control over anything. Even the details of your life are under the control of God. He placed you in this life, at this point in history. He placed everyone else into history with you. God saw your decisions and made provision for your life, at this point in history – your friends, your talents, your abilities, your education, your job, whatever you have, whomever you know. You had no say about your life, prior to your birth, but God made all of the arrangements for you, even before human history existed.

Gods mercy is grace in action. Grace is Gods favor and through His favor, His provision, and from all of this, because of His love and plan for you to have the perfect life, not only now, but especially forever.

God brings salvation to any and all who believe in Christ.

At the very instant of your faith expression in Christ, God the Holy Spirit washes you thoroughly, with a cleansing wash, not of water for the body, but of Gods righteousness.

Washing means to be cleansed by means of a washing laver. The laver of washing is called the laver of regeneration, because it is the means by which regeneration is obtained. Salvation is represented by the alter of sacrifice. It is from that alter, upon which Christ died (the Cross), that you receive your initial washing of life.

This washing is a renewing of your life, a regeneration from your old self into a new creation.

2 Cor. 5:17
17 Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; NASB

15 For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. NASB

Eph 4:22-24
22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,
23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. NASB

A new creature is something that has never existed before. God created the angels, plant life, animal life and human life, but then there was one more creation to come and that was a regenerated human, through the washing by means of the Holy Spirit, who likewise causes the renewing or new creation, in us.

This regeneration, brings a new component into mans existence, and that new component is the human spirit, into which God pours eternal life.

By the way, the second laver of washing which stands between the alter and the first room, the Holy Place, is the laver of washing for confession, which represents the washing away of sins in the life, after salvation, so as to promote an environment for spiritual growth. Don’t confuse that with the regeneration of salvation. Confession does not accomplish salvation, but is functional only after one is saved.

The Father planned, the Son executed the plan, and the Holy Spirit is the mechanism of sustaining the plan.

God is the ultimate philanthropist. He possesses unlimited resources and His generosity is without limits.

In eternity past, God created humanity within His mind, the perfect person. One with whom He would share and spend all of eternity.

During the course of time, man fell into sin. God did not lose His infinite love for man (John 3:16), but instead had a plan already in the works for saving man from his own destruction.

The plan of God allows us to peer ever so slightly, inside the mind of God, and see the immense feelings that He has for each one of us individually.

In eternity past, God created you, within His plan. In time, in history, God brought you into existence. He did not create you to be worthless, demented, deformed, handicapped, or limited in any way, but God created you now, so that you could be transformed into the perfection of His original intent.

Throughout this study we have touched on the concepts of reservoirs, shadows verses reality and so forth. And by now you should understand that this world that exists all around us, is merely a shadow and a hint of the reality that none of us has ever seen.

A shadow has no scent, no texture, no color, no dimension, no content. A shadow is merely an outline, and a rough one at that, of something else that really exists. And if this world, with all of the scents, colors, textures, sounds and such that we can detect, is as phenomenal as it is, then how much greater is reality, which we have not seen, over that which we currently have?

Eternity is said to be beyond our imagination. Most folks think of eternity as little more than an extension of what we already have, just less trouble. Not so. Eternity is beyond our ability to imagine, and that means extreme changes in virtually everything. It is for this eternal existence that God designed us, and created us.

Imagining a plan is one thing, implementing that plan is quite another, and maintaining that plan, given all of the opposition that has occurred in history, both from Satan and arrogant man, is still quite another.

And yet through it all, God has not given up on humanity, and certainly God has not given up on you.

So long as the breath of life is functioning within you, God has a plan for you that is accomplishable. And so long as you get your act together and pursue with a genuine interest, your spiritual life, then there is no one, and nothing in existence, that can prevent God from carrying you to the maximum potential of your life, and beyond.

God accomplishes His work without human weapons, He works without regard to human means. The battle is the Lords.

3 For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. NASB


Take care, lest you forget from whence you originated.

All of humanity, with but three exceptions (Adam, Eve, and Jesus Christ), were born with a sin nature. Adam and Eve were created without a sin nature, but chose the path of sin.

Jesus was born without a sin nature, born of a virgin, with no human father, and since the sin nature is handed down from generation to generation through the male, ‘In Adam all sinned,’ then Jesus was born without it and lived a sufficient amount of time making daily choices that excluded sin, and thus became the perfect candidate for sacrifice, qualified both in body and soul in living a life apart from sin.

But as for the rest of us, sin was a part of our life from the get-go. Subsequently during our life, we all made conscious choices to commit sins, which simply reinforced our worthlessness.

So, no matter how far along in your spiritual life you might have come, you are to remember the day when you were worthless, and never forget it. Arrogance can sneak around and get you in a proud state even from within your spiritual growth.

Foolishness means to be without understanding. Understanding comes from listening, learning, having some application, which results in understanding. No understanding means a dysfunctional spiritual life.

Disobedient means to be obstinate, unconvinced, defiant, stubborn, preferring your own interpretation to that of God.

Deceived means to wander in error as a result of obstinate disobedience, not that you could not have known, but because you have chosen to not know, through refusal to maintain a daily study and spiritual growth program in your life.

Without doctrine in your soul, then you have no spiritual life to serve, therefore you serve by default the lusts (drives) of your sin nature. You do not have any control over your sin nature drives, but in spiritual defiance, you will become a slave to your sin nature. Your sin nature possesses drives for pleasures and lusts, angers and hatreds. These result from an insatiable pursuit that will never be satisfied, resulting in frustration and disappointment, resulting in anger, self pity, and hate. These in turn unlock many other sins.

What anyone else possesses, we envy, we covet, we desire. What we do not have, we want, believing that it will solve our inner desires and needs.

Hateful, ‘stugnetos,’ is a bit different than the word for hate, ‘miseo,’ in that the former, hateful, means that you are the one who is hated, because you have violated the oath of truth.

And the latter word for hate, means that you as a result of rejecting your oath of truth, will end up hating.

Bible doctrine is the only possession that will help you to avoid being consumed by corruption. Corruption is what sin does. It destroys everything that is comes into contact with.

Bible doctrine comes only from God. Bible doctrine is not something that you originate or invent on your own, and thus, you, as the dust of the earth, a hated and hateful wretch, have no place to boast either before your conversion to Christ and doctrine, or after it.

Doctrine gets all of the credit, not you. Christ gets all of the credit, not you. The Father and the Spirit, receive all of the credit, not you.

Our obligation in life is to take care of the soul, that we will not become enslaved to the corruption of the body.

The natural state of man is corruption. Repeat, the natural state of man is corruption. There is no such thing as the dignity of man. Doctrine, is the only thing that can transform corruption (putrid rot), into something of intrinsic value (gold).
