Psalm 35:5

Copyright Ó 2015 J. Neely
Psalm 35:5

5 Let them be as chaff [mots] before [paniym] the wind [ruwach]: and let the angel [mal'ak] of the LORD [Y@hovah] chase [dachah] them.   KJV-Interlinear

5 Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them away!   ESV

Chaff is the empty and light portion of the grain stock, which is blown away by the wind or a gentle breeze, when the grain is tossed up into the air and the chaff is separated from it by the wind, and blown away.  The grain is the good part and drops to the ground for collection and later use.

The chaff drifts away and is forever gone, lost, and ends up in the obscurity of the world.  It cannot be identified or distinguished from the dust or any other particle of the earth.

Thus chaff is identified with the empty, the light, the useless, the worthless, the vain or vanity of the world.

The chaff of humanity includes all unbelievers who have no spiritual life, as well as all believers who disregard their spiritual obligations.

To chase them, is a military term, wherein when the enemy is in full retreat then you continue the pursuit until they are all killed or captured or otherwise removed the picture of life. And this is what God does and will have completed when history comes to its conclusion.

Romans 3:9

Romans 3:9

9 What [tis] then [oun]? are we better [proechomai] than they? No [ou], in no wise [pantos]: for [gar] we have before proved [proaitiaomai] both [te] Jews [Ioudaios] and [kai] Gentiles [Hellen], that they are [einai] all [pas] under [hupo] sin [hamartia];   KJV-Interlinear

9 What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin,   ESV

And so Paul concludes that having demonstrated that neither Jew nor gentile have any advantage or disadvantage before God, because they are all sinners.

Being in the line of Abraham is no advantage when it comes to salvation or the spiritual life after salvation.

Being outside of the line of Abraham is no disadvantage when it comes to salvation, or the spiritual life.

God is consistent.  God does not change.  God does not play favorites.  God is not biased.

Anyone and everyone comes to God in the same exact way since the time of Adam, and that approach will not change.  Faith of course is the approach, never works, never some perceived advantage.

Likewise there are no disadvantages that would prevent one from approaching God.  Neither race or culture or geographical region or social status.  Nothing can prevent a person from finding God, so long as the person approaches in faith.  And faith is a mere thought process.  A process that is available to everyone.

And, if someone had some form of so called disadvantage, which prevented them from having thought processes of perception, such as in an infant or through some mental disorder, then they are automatically saved if they should die prior to achieving an age of thought ability or thought responsibility.

God is always fair.

Romans 3:8

Copyright Ó 2015 J. Neely
Romans 3:8

8 And [kai] not [me] rather, (as [kathos] we be slanderously reported [blasphemeo], and [kai] as [kathos] some [tis] affirm [phemi] that we [hemas] say [lego],) [hoti] Let us do [poieo] evil [kakos], that [hina] good [agathos] may come [erchomai]? whose [hos] damnation [krima] is [esti] just [endikos].   KJV-Interlinear

8 And why not do evil that good may come?—as some people slanderously charge us with saying. Their condemnation is just.   ESV

Those who cross the line into sin, justify their actions and beliefs, by claiming that God is glorified as a result of their acts, therefore making their acts of sin, as noble and right.

A cute play on words and reasoning, which existed in Pauls day, and was even turned into a prominent religion several centuries later when Islam came into existence, with its justification of sin as a noble task to the glory of their god, exclaiming god is great as they carried out their acts of violence and crime.

When you believe that a god grants you the right to do as you please, then all morals of society break down and jungle rules take over.  Chaos and tyranny then rule and destruction and atrocities eventually become the norm.  For those who are the victims, then suffering becomes horrendous.  For those who are the predators, then evil becomes the standard.

However, this is not the rule of God, nor the basis of His glory.

God is perfect and God is without taint.  All evil is condemned and never allowed in the spiritual plan of God.
Gods glory originates from His divine perfection.

Evil is a slander and a lie and a deceit.  It depends on all things false, in order to succeed.  And its success depends on the suffering of others.

But eventually all evil comes face to face with its accuser, which is truth, and evil is condemned and destroyed.

And, its condemnation is true and right and just.

Isaiah 26:5

Copyright Ó 2015 J. Neely
Isaiah 26:5

5 For he bringeth down [shachach] them that dwell [yashab] on high [marowm]; the lofty [sagab] city [qiryah], he layeth it low [shaphel]; he layeth it low [shaphel], even to the ground ['erets]; he bringeth [naga`] it even to the dust [`aphar].   KJV-Interlinear

5 For he has humbled the inhabitants of the height, the lofty city. He lays it low, lays it low to the ground, casts it to the dust.   ESV

The inhabitants of the city or lofty places, is synonymous for those people who are proud, arrogant, and therefore presume that they have no need for God.

For people who have no need for God, even people who pretend to worship God, in reality look to their own interests and conveniences.

They build their own cities, and look to the structure with pride and accomplishment.

They presume they have their own knowledge and therefore do not have a need for anything that comes from God.

What they say and think and feel are enough for them.  Their reason is enough for them.  Their invented philosophies are enough for them.

They consider only the physical universe and do not expect anything beyond that.

With no direct interaction with God, they see only what they want to see, and do not look further.

Even when Jesus was walking the face of this earth for three-and-a-half years, there was very little questioning about life or the world or anything that could have been asked.  Such a unique opportunity to learn great things, but was lost because people did not look beyond the here and now.

And when life is all said and done, those who have resisted learning Bible doctrine, will have nothing.

And less than nothing, their life’s worth will be down to the ground, lower than the dust, meaning zero worth.  And to live a life, a whole life and end up with nothing is in itself a huge waste of ones time.

Isaiah 26:4

Copyright Ó 2015 J. Neely
Isaiah 26:4

4 Trust [batach] ye in the LORD [Y@hovah] for ever [`ad]: for in the LORD [Yahh] JEHOVAH [Y@hovah] is everlasting [`owlam] strength [tsuwr]:   KJV-Interlinear

4 Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock.   ESV

Trust is complete and total confidence.  No circumstance, no situation, no instance of activity or event in this world can crush, distort, or change this type of confidence that you can have in Christ, if your faith is strong.

Faith is developed through spiritual growth.

Spiritual growth is developed through a daily study of Bible doctrine, and the application of that doctrine to ones daily life.

The Lord Jehovah, ‘Jah Jahovah,’ doubled, here emphasizes the power the strength of God.

This power and strength, is His active and ongoing power and strength which is never idle, but in continual motion and action.

Thus, our faith needs likewise be in the same continual motion and action, and never set aside especially in times of stress, burdens or pressure, especially when life seems hopeless.

For in God there is no such thing as hopelessness.  Likewise in our faith, there should be no such thing as hopelessness, only patience to see how life’s situations will work themselves out.

And of course this does not mean that we become passive and do nothing, but proactive and utilize the resources that God has given us.

Bible study and growth serves to open our eyes to the many resources that God has provided.
