Isaiah 21:8

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Isaiah 21:8ues

8 And he cried [qara'], A lion ['ariy]: My lord ['Adonay], I stand [`amad] continually [tamiyd] upon the watchtower [mitspeh] in the daytime [yowmam], and I am set [natsab] in my ward [mishmereth] whole nights [layil]:  KJV-Interlinear

8 Then the lookout called, "O Lord, I stand continually by day on the watchtower, And I am stationed every night at my guard post.  NASB

Lions are often painted or sculptured onto buildings as symbols of watchmen or lookouts.  They are fierce and foreboding, and even when seemingly asleep, their eyes miss nothing.  Isaiah is the fierce lion watchman.  Bible doctrine is the lion of fierceness and alertness and watching constantly and continually throughout history.

Doctrine is constant, unchanging, and reliable.  It keeps watch by day, and by night.

Bible doctrine keeps the watch in storms, in prosperity, in times of trouble, in times of affluence, in times of positive volition toward truth, and in times of apostasy.

And even when there is nothing to be seen on the horizon, and even when the days turn to months, turn to years, turn to centuries, turn to millennia, Bible doctrine is at its post watching, waiting.

For the prophecy is true and real.

And when all others fall away because so much time has passed and nothing is fulfilled, when all others have long forgotten what awaits them in the future, when all others have given up and turned to other more enticing philosophies, Bible doctrine remains faithful, obedient, and unwavering at its post.

Who else has such dedication?

Psalm 31:24

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Psalm 31:24

24 Be of good courage [chazaq], and he shall strengthen ['amats] your heart [lebab], all ye that hope [yachal] in the LORD [Yahovah].  KJV-Interlinear

24 Be strong, and let your heart take courage, All you who hope in the Lord.  NASB

In Jesus Christ is all hope, all trust, all confidence.  There is no other in whom humanity can place such expectations.

Courage, ‘chazaq,’ means strength, poise, confidence, stout, unmovable, holding fast.

Strengthen, ‘amats,’ means to fortify, confirm, mental courage, physical power, to establish, to increase.

Heart, ‘lebab,’ means interior, activity, understanding.

Hope, ‘yachal,’ means confidence, trust, patient, wait.

The heart is the circulation of doctrine within your soul, using doctrine, thinking doctrine, applying doctrine to your everyday life.  Of course you have to know doctrine before you can use it or have it active in your life.

The activity of bible doctrine in the soul, fortifies your soul and therefore your life, just as diet and exercise fortify your physical body.  It completes that which is incomplete, makes strong that which is weak, establishes that which is unsettled, brings order to that which is disorganized.

And therefore, a strengthened soul, generates confidence and trust and hope in Christ, who is the source of all that you are or can be.

As a mere human, you are incomplete.  God brought you into this world as a format, an incomplete and empty vessel, into which you must pour legitimate knowledge, understanding, experience and wisdom, from the perspective of yet a second birth, so that you can become complete and prepared for eternity.

Without Christ, there is nothing.

Without faith in Christ, you are nothing.

Without doctrine in your soul, there is no structure on which to place your life.

Without the use of doctrine in the soul, there is no completion of your life.

Without completion, there is no faith, which is power, which is confidence.

God, elevated the word above His very name, because it is the written word through which we have access and strength and completion and power and faith.

There is no other source by which these may be obtained.

Psalm 31:23

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Psalm 31:23

23 O love ['ahab] the LORD [Yahovah], all ye his saints [chaciyd]: for the LORD [Yahovah] preserveth [natsar] the faithful ['aman], and plentifully [yether] rewardeth [shalam] the proud [ga`avah] doer [`asah].  KJV-Interlinear

23 O love the Lord, all you His godly ones! The Lord preserves the faithful, And fully recompenses the proud doer.  NASB

This verse has two applications.  In both, the good aspect and the bad, the Lord deals with believers in abundance and never short changes anyone, when it comes to providing or applying them with that which they are due.

Gods expectations of each person are made very clear throughout the scriptures.  The mandates are clear, the examples are clear, the parables are clear.  There is no question left that anyone can look to, in order to get an even more clearer answer.

And yet the vast majority of believers do not comply with Gods mandates.  They remain in their world of pretense and self-defined spirituality.

And so, God deals with everyone accordingly.

For those who advance properly in their spiritual lives, there is an abundance of reward and blessing, both now and in eternity.

For those who fall short of that which is expected of them, due to their indifference, do to their neglect, do to their stubborn refusal to comply with Gods mandates, there is likewise an abundance of punishment, or the abundance of the removal of blessings.

God does not give a little or take a little.  He either gives a lot, or takes a lot.

Plentifully, ‘yether,’ means an abundance, or that which is far beyond what is necessary, as in the case for positive rewards.

As for punishments, God likewise gives plentifully, and does not withhold punishment, or let up, when the punishment is due and proper.  In the case of reward lost, God does not and will not forgive and forget and give out blessings anyway.

So, if you think that your sincerity will get you by, or if you think that God will give you something anyway, once you get to heaven, then you are mistaken.

The only things certain that any believer will receive in heaven and eternity will be eternal life and a resurrection body.

As to rewards, then look to the many good things in this world as an example guide for similar rewards for eternity.  There are the obvious things like gold and jewels, but then there are the more subtle rewards like promotion, talent, abilities, insights, innovative abilities, privileges, and this infinite list continues.

So, missing out on eternal rewards means missing out on a huge array of blessings, even beyond ones imagination.  And that qualifies as abundant.

There is incentive for complying with Gods expectations, but you really have to want to know God, fully.  You really have to want to grow up in accordance with His expectations. You really have to want to complete yourself and fulfill your meaning and purpose correctly, not by some poorly defined pretense.

Lest, you fall short, and worse, do not discover your shortage until after death, when it is too late for you to change.

Romans 1:8

Copyright Ó 2014 J. Neely
Romans 1:8

8 First [proton] [men], I thank [eucharisteo] my [mou] God [theos] through [dia] Jesus [Iesous] Christ [Christos] for [huper] you [humon] all [pas], that [hoti] your [humon] faith [pistis] is spoken [kataggello] of throughout [en] the whole [holos] world [kosmos].  KJV-Interlinear

8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, because your faith is being proclaimed throughout the whole world.  NASB

Getting the gospel and doctrine to the entire world in our present day, is a phenomenal opportunity, and is accomplishable when a few make the leap and invest in that effort. And because of that commitment, huge numbers of people have the opportunity to come to Christ and to their own personal spiritual life.

In our current day, communication to nearly everyone in the entire world can be virtually instant.  Geographical boundaries and barriers, even language, are almost non-existent obstacles, due to smart phones, the internet, the abundance of translator devices, and the worldwide usage of English in one form or another.

Back in Pauls day, the method of communication was by means of verbal or travel, or letter.  Written communication was extremely limited.  But the Greek language was known and used by virtually everyone.

And so, even in that ancient time, and even without our technical resources, the gospel of Christ was spread throughout the known world.  The spread of the gospel and doctrine was not instant, and often times took weeks to get from one place to another, but spread it did.

The faith that Paul refers to, is of the fundamental concept and principles of Christianity.

The city of Rome was the center of evil and opposition toward Christinaity, and yet it was also a growing center of Christianity.

Today, our entire world is a vast center of evil and growing opposition toward Christianity.

Back then, the gospel was spread by word of mouth from port to port, from village to village, from city to city.

Today, the gospel is spread by word of mouth by means of the internet and other various instant technologies.

But by either high tech or low, we all have God the Father, through Christ, to thank, for any and all methods of communication.   With God, there is no such thing as an impossible barrier, no such thing as, ‘can’t be done.’  All things are possible because God does not depend on human resources, but by means of the very sovereign power that He alone possesses.

God does give us all the opportunity to participate, but that is a courtesy that inevitably demonstrates the genuineness, or lack of it, of ones commitment to the truth.

And even though not mentioned in this particular passage, there will be one more remarkable time of gospel spread, and that will be in the future during the Tribulation, when the entire world will be an unbelieving world, and yet the gospel will spread like wildfire, and even then in the face of far worse horrendous times than ever before.

So, if those people can spread the word, within the scope of their very limited environment, how much more so can we, in our high tech world?

Who will participate, and who will just have lip service?
