Isaiah 10:7
7 Howbeit he meaneth [damah] not so, neither doth his heart [lebab] think [chashab] so; but it
is in his heart [lebab] to destroy [shamad] and cut off [karath]
nations [gowy] not a few. [ma`at] KJV-Interlinear
7 Yet it does
not so intend Nor does it plan so in its heart, But rather it is its purpose to
destroy, And to cut off many nations. NASB
Now, Assyria, or any evil
nation for that matter, does not think as God thinks. Gods purpose is to discipline and judge in
accordance with Gods perfect righteousness and justice, in truth.
Any given evil nation has
their own agenda, and that will be explained in these next several verses.
Meaneth not and neither
his heart, indicate the agenda of evil people.
They have their own plans of glory and power and fortune.
God intends to discipline
Samaria and then Judah. They belong to
Him and it is in His purpose to apply discipline as a matter of course. Other nations are not Gods chosen people and
as to those who do not align themselves with Gods truth, then they have elected
by default to live within the jungle environment of the world.
In the jungle, there is
no protection for anyone, even for the strong.
The strong eventually become the weak as they are replaced by other
strong elements in the world.
Assyria plans to conquer nations
for their own purpose and glory. And God
merely uses that intent from within His overall divine plan.
And in so doing it is not
Assyria who is defining its own destiny, but God in fact utilizing them at the
proper time and at the proper place, because that is how the divine plan was
assembled in eternity past. God controls
history.
Remember that God looked
down through the tunnel of time and saw an evil Samaria and an evil Judah. He also saw contemporary with them, an evil
Assyria as well as other empires to come.
He merely matched all of these ingredients up in history in order to
accomplish His plan.
God designed a time for
Adam and Eve. He defined a time for the Flood.
He saw mans failure and the need for a Messiah. He placed Jesus into history at the proper
time. He placed you into history at a
time that works best for you. Everything
and everyone, even the nature of the planet and storms and earthquakes and
such, all come together in one extremely detailed and coherent and
comprehensive divine plan.
We are the tool, And God
is the craftsman. The craftsman wields
the tool. The tool does not wield itself.
