Psalm 22:7

7 All they that see [ra'ah] me laugh me to scorn: [la`ag] they shoot out [patuwr] the lip, [saphah] they shake [nuwa`] the head, [ro'sh] saying, KJV-Interlinear

7 All who see me sneer at me; They separate with the lip, they wag the head, saying, NASB

While Jesus was hanging on the cross, as well as when He was being tried in the several trials prior to the cross, the public and official attitude was one of mocking and ridicule.

A spiritually ignorant people, when coming together, become a mob.  A mob is held together by emotion and their target is the common victim they presume to be guilty until proven innocent.

However, a mob in never interested in truth or facts.  It is only interested in the punishment that helps them to vent their anger, whatever it is in life.

Individuals in life, when they lack spiritual resources within their soul, will drift into self-destruction.  They reject truth, they reject that which would help them, they will destroy anything and everything that could be of proper benefit to them.

Their life is one of misery and they will go out of their way to make sure that everyone else is miserable, even and especially when it results in their own destruction.  They simply reject that they will suffer as a result of their own actions.

Jesus is the quintessential example of this principle.

He is God, He is the savior, He is the sun total of everyone's future and life and destiny, and yet the response that He received was one of mocking, spitting, ridicule, derision.  He was hated when there was nothing about Him to hate.  And that is the way of spiritual ignorance.  Ignorance of truth means ignorance of function in life.
