2 Peter 1:10

10 Wherefore [dio] the rather [mallon], brethren [adelphos], give diligence [spoudazo] to make [poieo] your [humon] calling [klesis] and [kai] election [ekloge] sure [bebaios]: for [gar] if ye do [poieo] these things [tauta], ye shall [pote] [ptaio] never [ou me] fall [pote] [ptaio]: KJV-Interlinear

10 Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; NASB

Therefore, means simply that if you recognize the significance of life, if you look beyond your pet beliefs and attitudes, if you come to realize that your life has more potential than just the things you do day after day, if you go beyond your wishes, hopes, dreams, hobbies, immediate desires, if you do all of this and finally figure out that your life will last for all of eternity, and that this is your one opportunity to get ready for the greater part of your life, then you need to get with the program of preparation, because you haven’t much time.

Joke about it, ridicule about it, settle back into your daily ‘waste your life’ habits, and one day you will be extremely sorry.

Give diligence, means make your own personal life and preparation, your single most important thing in your life.

Far too often folks will spend their time on frivolous things. We watch too much television. We spend too much time day dreaming and wishing. We focus on our career as though that is all that we have. We hustle around in life, or we procrastinate life away, or we just play games in life.

We make the near things (near sighted principle from yesterday) our priorities, and ignore the far sighted things (our spiritual life).

You, as a believer in Christ, were chosen by Him. His choice was through your belief in Him. That makes you special, in that God, chose you. And who or what are you? Nothing. Why would God choose someone who is nothing?

You can continue to fill up your days and months and years by doing the same nothing things that you do day after day. Things that gain you nothing.

Or, you can invest a little time in your daily routine, and build up your destiny, with Gods blessing. Why is that such a difficult task?

In doctrine you will never fail.

Outside of doctrine, failure for you will be certain.
