Psalm 25:15

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Psalm 25:15

15 Mine eyes [`ayin] are ever [tamiyd] toward the LORD; [Yahovah] for he shall pluck [yatsa'] my feet [regel] out of the net. [resheth] KJV-Interlinear

15 My eyes are continually toward the Lord, For He will pluck my feet out of the net. NASB

All of us follow a pattern in our daily living habits.  This pattern is what we habitually think and do, day in and day out during our life.

As a child thinks about food when they are hungry, and toys and play when they are active.  Their focus is typically short term or whatever they are doing in the current moment.

An adult thinks about adult things.  Whether work or social, the adult typically thinks further out than the current moment.

But regardless of the time frame, what you do day after day, over and over, again and again, becomes your habitual pattern of life.

Most folks do not think about God on a regular basis.  Perhaps when they drive past a church, or are in some sort of bind in life, or on Sunday, or on holidays, they might have passing thoughts about God, but their spiritual thoughts are not habitually a part of their daily agenda.

And yet we all live in this devils world, which is a net or a trap that is intended to destroy us, whether we recognize that or not.

Those who have a focus on God, Christ, truth and so forth, are aware that God continually rescues us out of the ongoing traps that life lays before us.

Those who lack a focus or even an interest in God, are perpetually trapped, and they don't have a clue that they are trapped.  Until of course, it is too late, when the end of their life arrives.

Having ones eyes on the Lord refers to the continual and habitual pattern of ones life which is consistent and obligatory toward the expectations that God places on each one of us.  Namely to be in fellowship, to study daily, to pursue your spiritual life as required and expected.

This does not mean that you give up everything else in life.  We all have to have a job, a career, a means of making a living, and so forth.  We all have social lives of one sort or another.  We all have families or friends or neighbors, or acquaintances with which we interact on a daily basis or from time to time.

And most of the things that we have to do day in and day out, cannot be avoided.

But what we also need to not avoid, is our daily bible study. That is something that we need to schedule into our daily life at some time during the day or perhaps at the end of the day. Whatever your daily schedule is, there is always a place where you can make room for your daily bible study.

Likewise, your thoughts in your head are continually flowing or cycling through your head.  There is always room in your head, despite the many jokes that you can think of, for spiritual thoughts.

These thoughts can be your confessions, your memorizations of verses, your prayers, your wondering about life or God, or your future, or the last study you read, and such.  There are many things that you can think about.  And, when you place God in your thoughts then you begin to give your own life some purpose, you begin to ask questions, you begin to analyze things, you begin to figure things out, you begin to become objective and look at life from all angles, you begin to see life from Gods point of view, you begin to mature.

Galatians 3:25

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Galatians 3:25

25 But [de] after that faith [pistis] is come, [erchomai] we are [esmen] no longer [eti] [ouketi] under [hupo] a schoolmaster. [paidagogos] KJV-Interlinear

25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. NASB

When a child grows up under the charge of his guardian, then at some point he arrives at an age where he no longer needs the guardian and the function of the guardian ceases.

Under this symbolism, the Law was the guardian under which all believers were under the hold of its rigid requirements.

But when the child became of age, or in this example, when history revealed and Christ and the Cross event actually occurred, then the child through faith was no longer under the restraint of the Law.

The Law demonstrated what needed to be done, the perfect life, but of which no one could accomplish because it was impossible for man to live a perfect life forever.

Faith, on the other hand, is the freedom from that constraint, in that Christ lived the perfect life, and paid the price of freedom for us all.

The Law, was thus dismissed as no longer required or even necessary.

In ancient times, the father decided when the child was ready to leave the nest so to speak, and no longer needed his guardian.

In the spiritual realm, the Father, who is God, decided the timing of the first advent and the release of all believers from the constraints of the Law.  The law was thus dismissed and no longer necessary.

The Law of Moses was nothing more than serving as a guardian function for believers, constantly reminding of the perfections required and the impossibilities of doing them.  The Law was never a path to freedom.  It only pointed to the path to freedom, which path was and is faith.

Galatians 3:24

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Galatians 3:24

24 Wherefore [hoste] the law [nomos] was [ginomai] our [hemon] schoolmaster [paidagogos] to bring us unto [eis] Christ, [Christos] that [hina] we might be justified [dikaioo] by [ek] faith. [pistis] KJV-Interlinear

24 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, that we may be justified by faith. NASB

This verse is a bit confusing in that at first look it would imply that the law was the teacher, but such is not the case.

Schoolmaster or tutor, ‘paidagogos,’ is a sort of guardian but not a school instructor.

Back in Pauls day, wealthy folks, when they had children, would place the infant with a wet nurse who would take charge of the child until it was weaned.

Then the child would be passed along to yet another servant who was the nanny, who would look after the child until they were about five or six years of age and ready for schooling.

Then the child would be placed under the care of yet another servant, often a slave, who was called the ‘paidagogos,’ or the guardian.

This guardian would look after the child and give them basic instruction, such as manners and hygiene.  The primary task of the guardian was to keep the child safe, to keep them from harm, to pull them out of harms way or to redirect their path if the child happened to go off in a wrong direction.  One of their duties was to take the child to and from school.

And in this capacity, the Law, was the ‘paidagogos,’ or guardian, which warned of failure, which taught basic moral law, which taught basic ritual principles, but primarily was to keep the child from temptation and acted in the capacity of a restraint.

The real instructor was doctrine, the written word, Christ.

Thus, the Law was the restrainer, not the justifier.  And the restrainer was there in order to contain and direct the focus of the individual toward the real subject, which was faith in the real savior, who is Christ.

Isaiah 13:4

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Isaiah 13:4ues

4 The noise [qowl] of a multitude [hamown] in the mountains, [har] like as [damuwth] of a great [rab] people; [`am] a tumultuous [sha'own] noise [qowl] of the kingdoms [mamlakah] of nations [gowy] gathered together: ['acaph] the LORD [Yahovah] of hosts [tsaba'] mustereth [paqad] the host [tsaba'] of the battle. [milchamah] KJV-Interlinear

4 A sound of tumult on the mountains, Like that of many people! A sound of the uproar of kingdoms, Of nations gathered together! The Lord of hosts is mustering the army for battle. NASB

Mustering, is the key word in this verse, ‘paqad,’ meaning to charge, to care for, to appoint, to commit, look, make, and here God is making all of the preparations, all of the arrangements, all of the particulars, all of the logistics, all of the plans that will lead these armies, hosts, to their last and final battle.

Noise, ‘qowl,’ is the unidentified collective sound that comes from far off, from a huge assembly of people and equipment, not particularly from the same group but from many large groups. The sounds echoing from far off, through the hills and mountains.

You cannot determine their source or their position or even their direction, but the noise is a loud clear cacophony of activity, and certain.

This noise is from the assembly and activity of many nations, assembling, gathering together for only one purpose, which is war.

The Lord mustering, means that Jesus Christ controls history.

It is by mans and Satan's design and intent to destroy creation, but it is Gods design to allow mans and Satan’s decisions to be made freely, but to control the outcome by allowing those decisions to come together at a time and place of Gods choosing, and for the benefit of good, not evil.

The mustering, the noise, all of the elements of the intentions of society, are certain.

Isaiah 13:3

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Isaiah 13:3ues

3 I have commanded [tsavah] my sanctified ones, [qadash] I have also called [qara'] my mighty ones [gibbowr] for mine anger, ['aph] even them that rejoice [`alliyz] in my highness. [ga`avah] KJV-Interlinear

3 I have commanded My consecrated ones, I have even called My mighty warriors, My proudly exulting ones, To execute My anger. NASB

Commanded, ‘tsavah,’ means to appoint, to make known, to direct, to constitute, to enjoin, to order.

Sanctified, ‘qadash,’ clean either by ceremony or morally, ones set apart, holy, prepared, proclaimed.

Called, ‘qara,’ means here to pronounce, to publish, to read, to state.

Mighty ones, ‘gibbowr,’ means warrior, champion, valiant, strong, everyone within a class or category.

Anger, ‘aph,’ refers to Gods policy of issuing justice or judgment as repercussions for an action. It is the presentation of facial expressions for determination and intent, flared nostrils, rapid breathing.

Rejoice, ‘alliyz,’ means over joyed, exultant, ecstatic.

Highness, ‘gaavah,’ means ornamental, excellency, majesty.

And so here in this chapter we have God calling for the destruction of an empire, Babylon, which does not yet exist, and His command is made known to all, and seen by all, so no one has any excuse for not knowing nor for being surprised when the destruction does occur.

Those who are sanctified or set apart, also referred to as the mighty ones, or those who are a part of a category of people of whom God would call mighty, strong, valiant, and is a reference to the spiritually mature believers that will survive the Tribulation, of whom will be rejoicing to the point of ecstatic pandemonium happiness which is beyond the normal happiness of people.

This is not a reference or the Medes or he Persians.  This is not a reference to anyone involved in the past historical downfall of Babylon, for none of these descriptions fit any of them.

This is a part of the lengthy prophecy which will cover these next eleven chapters, regarding the judgments that will come against the enemies of Judah, but not in Isaiah’s day, but which will occur in the final days of history.

Gods call and command, is the recognition of Gods control over history and over historical events, and over the final outcome of history.  And of those who have believed in Him and who have advanced to spiritual maturity, and of who understand and believe, and agree with Gods plan.

And, as a result of Gods plan, the enemies of truth will be defeated and the rejoicing like never before, will follow.
