Isaiah 6:13

Copyright Ó 2012 J. Neely
Isaiah 6:13

13 But yet in it shall be a tenth, [`asiyriy] and it shall return, [shuwb] and shall be eaten: [ba`ar] as a teil tree, ['elah] and as an oak, ['allown] whose substance [matstsebeth] is in them, when they cast [shalleketh] their leaves: so the holy [qodesh] seed [zera`] shall be the substance [matstsebeth] thereof. KJV-Interlinear

13 "Yet there will be a tenth portion in it, And it will again be subject to burning, Like a terebinth or an oak Whose stump remains when it is felled. The holy seed is its stump."  NASB

And so history is destined to repeat itself.  But for Israel, the nation, for Judah, the nation, for believers that span history, this pattern will always be there.

God chooses those who believe in Him, blesses them above all others who reject Him, and the enemies of God rise up against His people, try to destroy them, even to small numbers, and yet God raises up yet another generation or generations, and history repeats itself.

Adam was promised a savior who would be born of woman, making the savior, who is God, both God and man, together in the same person.

Abraham was promised a savior that would be one of his descendants.

Jacob was promised an eternal nation.  David was promised an eternal dynasty.

And the world has tried and tried again to destroy all of these promises, but each time that Gods people are destroyed, yet another generation rises up.  And so it will be, from the ruins of the Assyrian empire, to the Roman empire, to the final generation in the Tribulation.

Israel and Judah are both the genetic selections of God as well as the symbolic believers of faith selection of God.

And even when God is rejected by His own genetically selected people, Jewish people, He is faithful and maintains them as a race and will continue to maintain them as a race, when finally in the last generation, in the Tribulation, they as a race, will turn in huge numbers to Christ.

During that last terrible seven years, well over ninety percent of the population of Israel will be destroyed.  Even of the final ten percent, our current passage, the terrible destruction will continue as evil will attempt to eliminate the race entirely.

But at the Second Advent, when Christ finally returns to earth, the numbers of Jewish people, who by the way will be believers in Christ, will have diminished to an extremely low number, and yet those will survive to be rescued, and will enter into the Millennium to repopulate the world.

The trees mentioned are cut down with virtually no stump remaining, and yet a shoot, and little stem, that is virtually insignificant by comparison to the once whole tree, will survive to grow again and thrive into a new era.

A small shoot, is nothing when compared to the giant tree it comes from.  The surviving numbers of Israel, will be very small when compared to the total population that will not survive, but yet in the face of horrendous odds and destruction, God will preserve His people, while all others will die.

Pursuit of anything and everything in this world will come to a bitter end.  Pursuit of doctrine as God has intended, will come to a phenomenal destiny.

Psalm 18:45

Copyright Ó 2012 J. Neely
Psalm 18:45

45 The strangers [ben] [nekar] shall fade away, [nabel] and be afraid [charag] out of their close places. [micgereth] KJV-Interlinear

45 Foreigners fade away, And come trembling out of their fortresses. NASB

Just a quick note.  You really need to read the Revelation study, because there are many passages in the Old Testament and especially in our current study of Isaiah and the Psalms, that relate to the mental state of people who will live in that future time.

And even though many of these passages occur in similar format during Davids time and that of the prophets, we need to know that most of the Old Testament describes the realities that society will deteriorate to, in that last generation of history.

History gives us many examples of how people act and the many repercussions of their thoughts and actions, and yet nobody seems to learn from history, from their own life, or at least society in general does not learn.  That is why people have had to move from region to region, from continent to continent and so forth, in order to escape persecution and problems etc.

If life was simple and fair, then movements would not have had to occur, but the sin nature of humanity brings all sorts of baggage into the lives of everyone, and that baggage is filled with corruption and bias, and problems galore.

So, once you have read the Revelation study, then you will begin to understand not only that book, but the many passages that point toward that last generation, wherein most of the prophesies of the final days, will occur.

And here we have yet another passage describing the attitudes and reactions of people in the face of their judgment.

When David attacked an enemy, his reputation preceded him.  As he pursued them on the battlefield and as they ran from the battlefield, fear and terror overtook them because they knew their fate was going to be death.

And so, in the last days, when Gods judgments come upon the world, the nations will fade, as stated in this verse.

Fade, ‘nabel,’ here means to wilt, wither, fall away, as you would speak of a flower that withers and dies and is no more.  So too, the nations will disintegrate and wither one by one over the period of the Tribulation and they will fade and then end.

And during that process the people of the world will turn to their fortresses, as called ‘close places’ here, which are places or beliefs or things that people go to when they are running and trying to hide, or trying to find protection for themselves.

But no place, and nothing will be their safety.  They will have no safety, and thus fear and terror will overtake them.  And as you recall from Revelation people will call on anything and everything to fall on them to destroy them so that the torments that they are undergoing, will come to an end.

We already know that most normal people will turn to God for relief when life becomes too burdensome, but those folks will not turn to God, but will turn to death, in order to end the torment.

And we also know that death, for unbelievers, is not the end of their torment, but the beginning of an eternal set of torments that will only be far worse.

That last generation, will be anti-God to the maximum and they will be stubborn in their rejection of God, to the maximum.  And that is the biggest single reason that they will suffer so great a suffering.

In fact, everyone and anyone in life, brings their problems on themselves, because they are either indifferent, stubborn, or are outright resentful of God, Gods mandates, Gods imposed responsibilities and obligations, and they simply hate that being placed on their life.

And what they want is for the wrong things in life to be their truth, and the right things to be their lies.

Negative volition toward God and doctrine, brings the difficulties of life, into your life, and stubborn attitudes, bring only sorrow.  If you do not wake up to this, your life will be miserable, and only you are to blame.

Psalm 18:44

Copyright Ó 2012 J. Neely
Psalm 18:44

44 As soon as they hear [shema`] ['ozen] of me, they shall obey [shama`] me: the strangers [ben] [nekar] shall submit [kachash] themselves unto me. KJV-Interlinear

44 As soon as they hear, they obey me; Foreigners submit to me. NASB

Obey, ‘shama,’ refers to obedience, or to make the noise of obedience, to act out overtly as though one is obedient.

Submit, ‘kachash,’ means to feign, to fake, to lie, to act out in a hypocritical fashion, to make overt ovations, but in fact are really thinking the opposite.

And so the spiritually negative person, is aware of the reputation and power of God, and when they come face to face with His awesome power, they bow low with an overt expression, but are really thinking hate, disrespect, indifference in their hearts.

When David defeated enemy after enemy, still others came along with hypocritical attitudes and no respect for David as a king, as a national leader, as a military strategist.

And yet Davids reputation preceded him in the piles of corpses he left on the battlefield.

And so during the Tribulation, and when Christ returns at the Second Advent, He too will leave corpses stacked as high as the horses bridle on battlefields worldwide.

When that future period of history arrives, during that entire seven year period, not one single family will be untouched by the judgments and death that will inundate the planet.  And for the entire seven years, the storms, disasters, gang violence, organized atrocities and worse will escalate more and more, on an unprecedented scale.

And even then, in the face of the most horrendous terror and judgments ever in history, people will still mock God, people will still make false ovations, people will still pretend obedience, but will really hate and resent God with a passion.

And doesn’t that seem rather odd, when people are faced with God awesome power and have nothing of their own to counter it?

But then, people even today, make phony endorsements, pretend obedience, but really pursue things that are convenient and acceptable to them, rather than things that are consistent with Gods will.

What do you suppose they can expect when their individual judgment day arrives?
