Psalm 37:9

Copyright Ó 2015 J. Neely
Psalm 37:9

9 For evildoers [ra`a`] shall be cut off [karath]: but those that wait [qavah] upon the LORD [Y@hovah], they shall inherit [yarash] the earth ['erets].   KJV-Interlinear

9 For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.  ESV

Most people are passive, when it comes to their spiritual life.  They do not commit themselves to a daily study, and therefore never learn the truth of what is expected of them.  That means, they miss out on the many opportunities and blessings that are available to them.  They ignore Gods mandates, and/or they pretend that what God expects does not apply to them, and/or they presume, wrongly, that whatever it is that they do, is what God wants.

This is one form of being an evil doer, as it applies to Christians, that ignore their responsibilities and obligations of the Christian life.

As for non-christians, or unbelievers as they are often times called, then the path of disobedience, is more clear.  They have not believed in Christ and therefore are not Christian, and therefore do not have a relationship with God.

The Bible typically refers to them as enemies of God, aliens, foreigners, strangers, out-casts, heathen, and other similar terms.

All of these terms, refer to people who ignore Christ, and therefore ignore truth.  And when you ignore truth, then you operate on untruth, or the lies and distortions of the world.  And in that case, you can adopt anything you want to believe and make it into your truth.

That makes life convenient, but it is a convenience that is delusional and detached from reality.

And the unfortunate thing is, that you will never discover your error until you die and leave this world.  Then you discover that the realities of life go far beyond this physical world.

There is a God and a devil and a battle for supremacy over creation.  And to go through life pretending that you know of these things, but ignoring them as you focus on the immediate world around you, then presuming that everyone else is delusional about God and spiritual things, while you firmly believe that you are the wise one in a world where you define your own destiny, and that anything beyond this life is whatever you want to believe.

And so we have the mixture of beliefs in this world.  All of which will never be clear until the end of ones life.

Then the realities of life will hit home and the retributions that await true ignorance, will become a harsh reality.  One that will last forever.

So, we have evil doers, who are Christian, but dysfunctional.  And we have evil doers that are not Christian.

Those who refuse to believe in Christ will have the harsher reality as they will face the Lake of Fire, forever.

Whatever their beliefs in philosophy or other religions, or in the dignity of man, or in their right to take or do as they choose and so forth, will cease.  The reality of Gods justice will show itself and their culpability in evil, will be made clear, and they will lose horribly, forever.  Their time on this earth is short, and they will be given every chance to come around to truth, but there decisions will be their conviction, their successes if any, will be temporary at best.

As for Christians who talk a lot and do nothing, then their loss will be in the loss of reward.  Most people think of reward as monetary and nothing more, but look around.  In this world there are innumerable examples of rewards or blessings that people have.

Many are extremely talented. Many have great abilities.  Many have great intellectual, or artistic, or musical, or physical attributes.  The list of capabilities or abilities that people have, by whatever means, would probably be a mile long.

The Bible speaks of crowns and cities and production and so forth in parables, describing rewards and blessings, but those only describe huge categories of blessings.  And to receive any one blessing would be phenomenal because it will last for all of eternity.  To receive none, would be a huge loss, many times over.

To have infinity promised to you and then turn your back on it, is a fools decision and a major loss beyond calculation.

So, evil doers, lose, while those who comply with Gods plan and directives and process, win.

The unfortunate thing is, that too many will read that line and agree with it, and then continue doing nothing.  They see and hear, but never see and never hear.  They never follow through and commit themselves to a daily study, so they never learn.

They will just set themselves up for great disappointment and it will be their own fault.

Don’t be the fool.  Don’t be that person who will lose.

Dedicate yourself to a daily study through instruction, and be confident of success, as God defines it, not as you think it should be.

Romans 4:19

Copyright Ó 2015 J. Neely
Romans 4:19

19 And [kai] being not [me] weak [astheneo] in faith [pistis], he considered [katanoeo] not [ou] his own [heautou] body [soma] now [ede] dead [nekroo], when he was [huparcho] about [pou] an hundred years old [hekatontaetes], neither yet [kai] the deadness [nekrosis] of Sara's [Sarrha] womb [metra]:   KJV-Interlinear

19 He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb.  ESV

From the last verse, hope against hope, is now described.  Abraham had hope in the promise, but could see his own biological predicament.  He was old and incapable of having children.  Sarah was likewise beyond menopause and no longer fertile.

So, as far as the human viewpoint and facts of life go, they were not likely parental candidates, and never would be.

But God is not bound by human deficiencies or handicaps or human limitations.  God is capable of doing anything. After all He did design and invent the entire universe and all that is in it.

Just look at humanity.  We came from dust, and from that dust there are all types of examples of beauty and form and talents and such.  Can anyone else take a handful of dust and create a phenomenal singer or athlete or mental genius?

And yet God takes dust and forms people, and the means of promoting the race from generation to generation.

God creates out of nothing, human life and the intellect and mentality and emotional characteristics and more, that go along with it.

Look no farther than yourself.

You think, but the substance of your life cannot be seen or measured or even contained in anything apart from the soul in which God placed it.  He gave us a physical existence so that we could interact with the world around us, a brain that filters the capabilities of the soul, down through the physical body.

And all of this and far more, is beyond our understanding, even in our scientifically advanced era.

And so, Abraham had a promise, that he would have a son.  He looked at his own situation, and he looked at God, and he waited and waited knowing that when the time was right, God will make good on His promise.  And, he did this without any clue as to how it would all happen.

And so, we too will face difficulties and hardships and situations that will seem impossible, as far as we are concerned.

But Christ put us into this world, and Christ did not place us here arbitrarily.

We have to pursue our faith, through learning, and we have to face the impossible sooner or later, if we are ready, and then Gods promise to us or purpose for us, whatever that might be, will come together.

And there is nothing the world can do to prevent it.

God always does His part, we need only do our part.  And our part is to stick with a daily study and learn and continue doing that until we mature, and are then ready and usable by God, to do His purpose.

Our purpose or what we might think our purpose is, and our timetable, is of no consequence. God has a greater purpose.

Romans 4:18

Copyright Ó 2015 J. Neely
Romans 4:18

18 Who [hos] against [para] hope [elpis] believed [pisteuo] in [epi] hope [elpis], that [eis] he [autos] might become [ginomai] the father [pater] of many [polus] nations [ethnos], according [kata] to that which was spoken [ereo], So [houto] shall [esomai] thy [sou] seed [sperma] be [esomai].   KJV-Interlinear

18 In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, “So shall your offspring be.”   ESV

Faith has an object in which one can trust.  Faith is supported with knowledge and understanding and confidence.  Hope is in a future thing anticipated, an unknown.  Hope is always surrounded with uncertainty and anticipation.

Abraham had no children at the time of the promise.

Abraham looked to God who made the promise, knowing that God is outside of the bounds of hope and faith.  For, God does not need to hope, because God does not need to anticipate anything. God simply knows all that is and was and will be.  With God all things are certain.

And even though Abraham did not have any understanding as to the details of his biological inability to have children, especially when many others around him were having children right and left. He still looked to God and to Gods promise, that children would be there when the time was right, and according to Gods timetable.

But God has a plan, that through Abrahams life, the world and history would be taught the lesson of having one son, of the emotional difficulty of having to sacrifice that only son, that had been so long hoped for, and so deeply loved, in order to save the entire human race.

It took a long time to bring Jesus into the world, and it took a great deal of effort to let history bring Him to the Cross.  A series of events that man caused, and God coordinated.

And so too, Abraham would be the father of many nations through the biological activities that are common to man, but also, Abraham would become a father of many more, who would believe as he had believed, setting the pattern for generations to follow.

Isaiah 29:6

Copyright Ó 2015 J. Neely
Isaiah 29:6

6 Thou shalt be visited [paqad] of the LORD [Y@hovah] of hosts [tsaba'] with thunder [ra`am], and with earthquake [ra`ash], and great [gadowl] noise [qowl], with storm [cuwphah] and tempest [ca`ar], and the flame [lahab] of devouring ['akal] fire ['esh].   KJV-Interlinear

6 you will be visited by the LORD of hosts with thunder and with earthquake and great noise, with whirlwind and tempest, and the flame of a devouring fire.   ESV

If you examine history, there is no such incident having already occurred, such as has been described in this passage.  That therefore, assigns this series of events to the future.  The Sennacherib siege has been the more prominent siege in the history of Jerusalem, and even though in a single night, that army was decimated, it was not so destroyed as described in this verse.

So, when the end times arrive, and when Jerusalem is surrounded and being hammered until it seems like the very end is near and all hope is lost, two things are going to occur.

First, and not mentioned here but mentioned elsewhere, there is going to be a great repentance of attitude toward Jesus Christ.

That attitude change may occur during the siege or it may occur in the weeks and months prior, but it will occur.

And second, the enemies of God will be suddenly destroyed.

Not by mans might or ability or resources, but by the power of Gods will.  For God does not depend on the resources of man, but by every word of His own will.

And as mentioned in the prior verse, and with great suddenness, a storm of extreme and violent magnitude is going to sweep around the city of Jerusalem, and wipe out the army and armies that are surrounding the city.  Most storms affect an entire area or region and are certainly not selective as to geographical features that are within its range.

But, this storm and earthquake, and volcanic eruption and whatever else the Lord has in mind, is there for one purpose and one purpose only, which is to wipeout and neutralize and enemies of Jerusalem.

It is often said that the rain falls on the righteous as well as the unrighteous, which is a true statement. Rain and troubles as it were, fall on everyone.

But in this case, the storm will have but one target, the enemies of Jerusalem, and in that future day, I am sure that, that will be a sight to see.
