Psalm 38:4

4 For mine iniquities [`avon] are gone over [`abar] mine head [ro'sh]: as an heavy [kabed] burden [massa'] they are too heavy [kabad] for me.   KJV-Interlinear

4 For my iniquities have gone over my head; like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.  ESV

When Adam and Eve were in the garden, there was no sin. Without sin, there was no burden, no difficulty, no worry, no stress. In short, they did not have any concerns.

After sin however, problems began.

There are two words used in this verse for the word, heavy.

The first is, kabed, and the second is, kabad.  Both words are very similar in nature.

The first refers to the severity and difficulty in terms of being too numerous.

The second refers to the severity and burdensome in terms of magnitude, as in heavy or weighty.

This verse is designed to demonstrate that the existence of sin, is the chief cause of all of the world’s problems.

This verse is also designed to demonstrate that all of your problems in life, in one form or another, are related to sin.

And finally, the existence of sin, which leads to the existence of problems and difficulties, as a magnitude and weight which is far above your head, and far beyond your ability to deal with them.

Man will never be able to correct the problems of this world. There will always be problems. There will always be the poor. There will always be the handicapped. There always be factions and divisions between people. And because of sin, there will never ever be any human solution.

No matter what our sincerity, no matter what our intentions, no matter what government programs we try to put in place, there will never ever be a solution to any of the problems that people or government try to correct.

Therefore, there is only one obvious solution. And that solution comes from someplace beyond human ability. And of course that beyond, refers to God.

Jesus Christ is the only solution. And our access to that solution, is through Jesus Christ.

And we obtain a solution, first through faith in Christ, which is salvation.
And second, through spiritual growth by means of a daily study.
And third, through living in the fellowship sphere, which is the environment of the spiritual life.
And fourth, by growing up in our spiritual life and completing the essence within our self.
And fifth, by eventually obtaining a resurrection body, which by the way permanently separates us from sin.
And you could add one more step, which would be our entrance into the new universe, which puts this entire old universe and everything related to it, permanently behind.

Romans 6:9

9 We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.  ESV

This verse teaches us a lot of principles beyond the obvious. Once you have died to something, you are permanently separated from it. When you are raised back to life, having been separated from death, you cannot die again.

Jesus Christ is God. He holds the title Son of God. He went to the cross and died for the sins, in our behalf, of all of humanity.

There is only one sacrifice, which Christ performed on the cross. There will not be a second sacrifice, because there is no need for a second sacrifice.

Jesus Christ will not sacrifice Himself on planet earth, and then go to another galaxy and to another planet and sacrifice Himself for people there, and then go to another galaxy to another planet and sacrifice Himself for people there, and so on, and so on.

There is only one planet earth, and there is only one human race in the entire universe.

That does not mean that there could not have been plant life and such on other planets.  This is a very big universe, and we know that God created this universe to be habitable, and that Satan is the destroyer of life.  We have already studied that principle.  But there is only one human race, and we are it.  There is only one human sin, and there is only one sacrifice.

Once a person has believed in Christ, then we too have died to sin.

Since we have died to sin, we are no longer bound by the chains of sin.

Since we are identified with Christ in both death and resurrection, then in life there will never be any further death.

People cannot be reincarnated from one life to the next, to the next, because that would be repeating slavery to death, and then life again, and then death again, and so forth. This would be a complete contradiction of the principles of Christianity.

Christ went to the cross, one time. He completed the work of the cross, in its entirety. He did not miss anything, He did not leave anything out, He did not overlook anything with respect to His work on the cross.

There is only one salvation. There is only one act of faith. There is only one baptism.

Once a person has been saved, once they have been identified through baptism, then there is no further need for additional baptisms or salvations.

This is eternal security.

Once you have been saved by faith in Christ, you have identified yourself with His work, in its entirety.

Since Christ completed his work in its entirety, then your salvation by faith is completed in its entirety.

Once you have been saved, you cannot be unsaved.

Once you have died to sin, that death cannot be undone.

Once you have eternal life, it cannot be taken away from you.

Romans 6:8

God is logical and rational, and does things in accordance with a plan. He never does things frivolously or aimlessly.

Since eternity past, when God laid out the divine decrees, His entire divine plan was established, and has never changed.

The symbolism of our dying with Christ through the symbolism of the baptism, as well as the realism of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit when we were saved, continues on with the symbolism of the resurrection, just as Christ was resurrected.

As Jesus Christ performed a work, then He performed it completely and not haphazardly.

Therefore, since we are identified with Him in His work on the cross, then we are also identified with Him in His resurrection.

Salvation is not half a work, it is a whole work.  We are identified with Christ in all that He did, not just in a portion.

And in Christ, we are not only identified with Him in His death, burial, and resurrection, we will with a certainty, be completely and totally separated from sin and death, and we will enjoy a resurrection and eternal life.

Proverbs 1:9

9 for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck.  ESV

One of the greatest failures results because people do not have the drive or the desire to pursue and accurately learn the word of God. People treat the spiritual life with frivolous superficiality and great pretense.

Two of the greatest symbols or badges of wisdom and honor, are the wreath or crown that’s placed on your head, symbolizing promotion, rank and status.

And the chain or necklace of gold placed around your neck, symbolizing great wealth, prosperity, and blessing. Both of which come directly from God.

Bible doctrine is the foundation of all wisdom, and the fundamental text of all learning.

Obedience to its instruction, is the process by which we learn and grow.

To learn the principles of truth, and follow their application to ones daily life, which we studied in the previous verse, develops ones own virtue, and embellishes one’s own moral character.

The garland, symbolizes the wreath of wisdom placed as an ornament of grace on the head. It signifies an ornament that is twisted as a wreath is twisted and can be referred to as a crown of grace, producing grace, and resulting in peace.

The chains, refer to a collar or necklace of gold. The gold chain around the neck was seen as a mark of distinction and rank and power and wealth and authority.

And so Bible doctrine that is pursued, and learned, and inculcated into the soul of the individual, not only becomes incorporated into the very essence of the individual, but produces an intrinsic status and rank that only God can award.

And anyone who lacks the desire to pursue that recognition, insults God directly because they do not see it as worthy of their effort.

And that kind of attitude takes phenomenal arrogance, not to mention stupidity.
